Gronk Calls Super Bowl Matchup

October 21st, 2024

So Rob Gronkowski says he loves living in Tampa now that his playing career is finished.

Or is it finished?

Part of Gronk’s new life is a fast-food joint just south of The Licht House. And Gronk was promoting the drive-thru eatery today on WDAE radio.

In between talking about fresh tomatoes and local hurricane relief, Gronk noted his Super Bowl pick is the Bucs or Lions from the NFC to square off against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Joe thought this was noteworthy because Gronk is unlikely to blow a bunch of homer smoke since he still works as a studio analyst for FOX and breaks down games and picks for FanDuel TV.

Are the Bucs the NFC Super Bowl team? Joe can’t say they’re not. Tonight against the Ravens will tell a lot.

But who in the NFC is significantly better than Tampa Bay before tonight’s kickoff? All the NFC North teams are impressive on various levels, but Joe won’t call them better.

Hopefully, that doesn’t change shortly before midnight.

  1. Baker Bowl Says:

I’ve been saying it from the beginning of the season… The NFC is for the taking, Packers and Lions might put up a fight (I think the vikings are frauds), Niners will be a good game and we’ll see it in the regular season. Why not us?

  2. Cobraboy Says:

Yup, tonight will tell if this edition is the real deal, or another wannabe.

I pray for the former, but suspect the latter, especially if Vea is hobbled..

IMO, the Crows may be the best team in the NFL.

  3. Godlovesbucs Says:

Everyone in the NFC is beatable. We already beat the lions, commanders and eagles. Niners, cowboys, seahawks, vikings, falcons, packers have all looked beatable at times.

Overall, no reason to say it won’t be tampa.

  4. BucVoyager Says:

A win tonight and healthy bodies will tell folks to take us seriously.

  5. Bucs since 76 Says:

If the Bucs could get an outside linebacker before the trade deadline. I think they could be Super Bowl bound. Maxx Crosby might be too expensive but he would fit easily under the cap next year if the Raiders decide to trade him.

  6. Dave Pear Says:

If you buy into the philosophy that “defense wins championships,” there is no way the Bucs can compete for a SB title. So, offense must rule. Bucs can get there by having the most prolific offense in team history. It’s their only shot.

  7. Beeej Says:

Gronk jinxed us, now we’re gonna lose 37-9

  8. Dave Pear Says:

Wondering if Baker is working on Gronk to come out of retirement to suit up for the stretch run. What a coups that would be, even if he’s the 2nd TE. His blocking could only help and his locker room presence would be very helpful.

  9. heyjude Says:

Gronk is awesome! He has the eatery in St. Pete too. Healthy food.

Tonight will tell a lot. Hoping for the win!

  10. FrontFour Says:

@Buc since 76: Would you trade R. White?

  11. Dr. Bucenstein Says:

Our new 3 headed Backfield is something the NFL hasn’t seen since the Giants of 2007 or 2011. This could be the catapult.

  12. drdneast Says:

Everyone took the Commandrs win as a given but since they sit on top of the East now it doesn’t look like such an easy win.

  13. Lightningvinny Says:

Tonight’s game is a good measuring stick but next weeks game is far more important ,,, obviously try and win both but if you have to pick 1 of the 2 to win ,,, the Division /Conference game is more important ,,, rather be 5-3 , 5-1 in conference

  14. Usfbuc Says:

These next four games will tell us who the Bucs are. I think if we come away with two of four we are a solid playoff team if we win 3-4 out of the next four we are a potential SB team

  15. Esteban85 Says:

USF you took the words right out of my mouth. Oh yeah go Knights! U!C!F!

  16. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

I’d take 2 out of the next 4 for these Bucs. Its a very long season.

  17. IrishTony Says:

    Could see that

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Cobraboy … ‘Tonight will tell if this edition is the real deal, or another wannabe. I pray for the former, but suspect the latter, especially if Vea is hobbled’.

I also suspect the latter Cobra. Our offense has decent depth to weather a season that’ll surely see its share of injuries, but our defense doesn’t. Without Vea or LVD, we’ve got real problems (heck, even with Vea & LVD we seem to have problems). Our offense is improving (21.3 PPG in first 3 games, then 38.0 PPG in last 3 games), but our defense is regressing (20.7 PPG in first 3 games , then 26.3 PPG in last 3 games).

Somehow we’ve gotta become more consistent, on both sides of the ball. Good news is that our youngsters have gotten a lot of playing time already this season, and that should bode well for us in the remaining 11 games AND playoffs.

  19. IrishTony Says:

Btw the Falcons suck. How we lost that game astounds me.

  20. IrishTony Says:

Defense Rules forever the pessimist. I know I know you’ll say you’re a realist. You sound like me on this site during the horrid Winston years.

  21. orlbucfan Says:

DR, Bucs are not at Stupid Bowl level yet. Yeah, I hate the SB and miss the old NFL Championship games. Those were real deals. They (if you recall) were played in the crib of the team who had the best record between the two Conferences. The Stupid Bowls are just some more nonsense for rich whatevers. Whoopie. That’s what was so grateful about the Bucs second SB win. It was played at RJS! Who’d thunk it? I have a strong feeling Bucs will win tonight. It will be the Offense who does it!

  22. orlbucfan Says:

    *great not grateful. Typo time.💩

  23. David Says:

I said division winner, 10-11 wins. How far they go depends on the O-Line gelling and getting better thru the season
    AND
the D-line’s ability to get consistent pressure. So far that has been inconsistent. YAYA?!!?? LFG!

  24. HC Grover Says:

    Good ole Gronk

  25. Usfbuc Says:

@Esteban85 Tough season for both our schools this year but I wish we were in the Big 12 with UCF

  26. TBSwarm Says:

@usBuc I miss the war on I-4 and the Thanksgiving game

  27. Bucs since 76 Says:

I read on a Washington site they’re interested in trading for Maxx Crosby but it may cost two number ones. I don’t think the Bucs would pay that. As far as trading Reggie White he has little trade value and after only keeping 3 running backs we need him as a third down back.

  28. BUC4L Says:

Well they are who we thought they were! Now they pushed Evan’s injury and he’s probably done for the season. Sucks! When this game really didn’t matter.
