Historic Offensive Explosion

October 13th, 2024

“I still have you beat, Baker!”

What a bipolar game the Bucs played today.

So because the Bucs’ play wasn’t remotely flawless, it’s hard to believe they scored 51 points. And it is even harder to believe that was the second-best offensive output by the Bucs in a single game.

The 51 points scored is only the second time the Bucs put up a 50-burger on a team — or as Barry Switzer used to order his Sooners to do before a game, “Let’s go hang half-a-hundred on ’em today!”

The record is 55 points, per a release issued this afternoon by the Bucs’ media relations team. That came in 2019 when America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, got into a shootout with Jared Goff of the Rams at the historic Los Angeles Coliseum. The Bucs won 55-40. Joe was there to witness it.

That’s also the same game Goff piled up 517 yards passing on then-Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. At times today, it seemed rookie slimy Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler was going to match Goff’s yardage, but the Bucs locked down Rattler and shut out the Saints in the second half.

The Bucs racking up 51 points was only the second time the slimy Saints have allowed 50 points. The only other time the Saints allowed 50 was to Peyton Manning and the Colts in a 55-21 win.

Both games took place in Lincoln’s Tomb, the Saints’ home field.

The 594 net yards the Bucs racked up today is a franchise record.

    Now I get your picture!😃😃😃😝😝😝

  4. Simeon4HOF Says:

Sounded like Winston took over for Bake in Qtr 2 lol

  5. WillieG Says:

I think there will be 2 new coaches in the NFC this year. A defensive minded coach gives up 51 points? And the more I see of Coen’s offense, the more I realize Canales sucked and was over his head as an OC. He’s definitely over his head as a head coach. They may be the 2nd and 3rd coaches fired.

  6. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Panthers are the Browns of our division. Did us a favor hiring Canales. Bowles needs to light a fire under his defense and craft a defensive game plan with Jackson and Henry coming to town.

  7. Irishmist Says:

Joe, how about a piece on Godwin taking revenge on the team that took out his knee on a cheap shot?

  8. Tye Says:

    JW was Tampa’s Tampon….
Always associated with a bloody mess and was trash when he was through…

i’ve had trouble wrapping my head around this game to describe it…

but i finally came up with something…

it was kind of like a college football game…the craziness, the scoring…the giant running holes…something about the game speaks to me, saying it was kind of like a college football game…

just a little something to think about…

otherwise still such an odd and crazy game…but a great one !

  11. Zoocomics Says:

If the red rocket is QBing the Panthers when we face them, I wouldn’t sleep on them. We manage to make bad teams look good. ATL vs CAR Game stayed close for 3 Qts. Our Bucs team is bipolar to say the least, we don’t who’s going to show up from week to week.

  12. Buc4evr Says:

The most horrible game and best game. Strange but true.

  13. MadMax Says:

Baker baked…. So did our D, slow in certain situations though….. look, we got lucky, reel it in guys…. No no no, we’re nothing

  14. Buc-an-ear Says:

The Browns suck so bad the fans are asking them to bench D. Watson and put Jameis in. 🤣. Good luck with that.

  15. Rusty Says:

Sean just needed a chance. White can be delegated to RB3, White just doesn’t have the vision.

  16. MadMax Says:

    ^^^^^ yup

  17. Tbbucs3 Says:

Time for America’s QB to start for the Browns!

  18. MadMax Says:

He’s your checkdown, which is awesome, always need those great hands

  19. Rover Says:

No better team to get our rocks off on than the Saints. Love to see it! Go Bucs!

  20. infomeplease Says:

I see progress. The Bucs came out for another fast start! Then when things started going south fast, during the 2nd qt., the Bucs regrouped! To many times, in similar circumstances, recently we have seen them implode! Today’s halftime adjustments shut down the Saints! 😎

  21. Dave Pear Says:

The throttling of Rattler begs the question – why not play Cousinss that way? Or Nix?

Because Todd knows best. He’s the mastermind, do the unexpected and confuse your own defense. It’s genius.

  22. Dreambig Says:

Two things were proved today. The Buccaneers are better when Dean is not playing. They also need to stop forcing White into a starting running back role. Clearly Bucky and Tucker are quite a bit better.

  23. Tony Says:

This team has to be bipolar. One week they’ll show up then another week they do what they did against Denver then they have that game against Atlanta last week & now they do this against NO. Especially when they give up the 27 in one quarter. They don’t need White. They can just use Bucky & Tucker & put that DJ Williams with them, too!

  24. An Erection For Sacks Says:

Every time I see that guy’s picture, I am so glad that he’s gone.

  25. HC Grover Says:

    Coen saves Bowles again.

  26. BradyGronk Fan Says:

What’s happening to my boy Evans? 51 points yet no TD and only 30 something yards. He’s falling further behind the 1,000 yard pace. I saw the replay of the endzone misconnection and the interception. It looked like bad under throw on Baker both times.

  27. unbelievable Says:

It was a bad throw from Baker in the end zone, but Evans is clearly injuries right now. He could barely run routes by the 2nd half. And was coming out a lot.

I’d rather him get healthy now and be around for the December / January push. I do hope he gets his 1k yards too of course.

  28. Woodenman Says:

He was playing hurt you idiot the little he did play did you not watch the game? You Gronk

  29. KeyserSoze407 Says:

Sean Tucker and Bucky need to be clear cut #1 on the depth chart starting together or 1 & 2. White needs to be a backup not even a situational back. Unless you want our situations to be worse. lol and nobody gives Americas QB any credit. He threw for 5000 yards only in company with the handful of other greatest quarterbacks to play. I hope he gets to start for the browns and has his own Baker comeback story. Just because he’s frankly more fun to watch than a lot of other quarterbacks and I like watching football. Sometimes I wish Baker could throw 30 yard passes like they were 5 yard dump offs so Mike would have 200 yards a game. Baker is my favorite quarterback now though. Love his story. Love his fight. Hate that he had 3 interceptions. Still ended up with like a 109 quarterback rating overall on the season which is crazy. But yeah White could be a good back up. Tucker and Bucky. Tuckers averaging like 9+ yards per carry. I hope they’re learning from their mistakes like they said keeping their foot on the gas and getting the ball to the playmakers and not the ones that average 3 yards a carry.
