Offense Has 2021 Feel

Remember a few years ago when the Bucs rolled up points with ease most of the time and hung 30.1 points per game, second best in the NFL?
Those Bucs with Tom Brady rung up 30 or more points in 10 games. Yeah, they had a few clunkers offensively, but they scored a bunch. Leonard Fournette ran strong and caught 69 balls. Ronald Jones was a solid complementary back. Bucs fans remember the receiving talent.
Now? These 2024 Bucs have clocked 30 or more points in four of six games, including 51 on the slimy Saints on the road today.
This Bucs running game is better than it was in 2021, and the passing game is evolving quickly under new Bucs playcaller Liam Coen. Baker Mayfield is on pace for 42 touchdowns this season; Tom Brady threw 43 that season, which led the NFL.
Fun is back in the Tampa Bay offense. It’s not always pretty or well coached, but the talent and the juice is there. It should improve.
If the Bucs can keep scoring 30 per game with relative ease, they’ll be a very tough out in the postseason.

Coen is an improvement over Canales. O line is better. Baker is more comfortable. Running game is improved. Offense knows they have to help Defense compared to last year when it was other way around.

The defense is reminiscent of 2017. The offense has to score 40+ or lose thanks to Todd’s genius no pressure no coverage pass defense. Letting Rattler and Bo Nix have their way is inexcusable.

You’re gonna needs Evans healthy if they’re gonna keep putting up those numbers. Besides Godwin the receivers weren’t having the best day.
And what just happened to Hutch in Detroit should be a reminder on taking your best players on the field when you’re blowing someone else out.

@ Dave Pear… I wouldn’t say Rattler had his way with our defense. It appear worse than it was because the Saints got that momentum and had a good quarter that was marred by Tampa beating themselves by putting themselves in terrible situations. Rattler benefitted from good field position in that quarter.

Dave Pear is right. Defensive meltdowns in consecutive weeks. Luckily, Buck and Tucked showed up.

Definitely nice to have a potent offense for a change. Last couple years, we were begging for turnovers just to stay. in games cause couldnt trust the offense to not waste a down and go 3 and out 7 of 10 drives.
How about 3 opening drive TDs this year as well! Didn’t work out great after that for awhile but the guys realized quickly 17-0 didnt mean a damn thing. Should be another lesson learned.
Way too undisciplined today as well. Sterling Shepard! What did he have 4 penalties in the first half?! Can’t be doing that.

@Pelsbuc61…5 sacks, 2 ints, 3 forced fumbles, one of which was returned for 6 pts. ZERO points allowed in the second half. But the defense melted down…smh.
Were we watching the same game? The Def wasn’t lights out, but once again, contextually we’ll ignore how bad our offense was in 2Q with penalties, turnovers and putting the def in shitty field position, but yeah, blame the def. Man as fans, some of you guys suck.

240 yards passing, barely 50% completion rate, 2 INTs to 1 TD. If that is a qb having their way with our defense I hope it happens more often

Haters posting above. Did we forget the saints didn’t score outside the 2nd quarter? One being a special teams TD and two bad turnovers on offense with a short field? This game was absolutely dominated by the Bucs minus some bad penalties and a couple turnovers. We gave the falcons a win last week, we should be sitting at the top of the NFC South. Wake up fans.This is a very good football team. We are just scared to say it considering the number of bad years in the last couple decades.

Yeah they had a hot quarter, that was it. Aided by some terrible Bucs play and some truly heinous BS officiating. Shepherd did nothing wrong on 2 of those penalties, they were absolute garbage.

Agree, we should be 5-1.
This is a 5-1 caliber team at this point, warts and all. Defense still can’t be trusted though. Lamar and co ain’t no 5th round rookie backup QB. D Henry still has some juice.

Defensive meltdowns in consecutive weeks?!?!! The aints were shut out in the second half! We had picks, forced fumbles, sacks, and again we shut them out in the second half. I understand last week was ugly but let’s not conflate a huge win with a huge loss. Cmon bucs fans, you’re better than that.

To comment on the actual article I will say hell yes, this team does have a higher caliber feel than we have in the past few years. The last year with Brady was tough losing our top notch center and I think that got into old man Brady’s head. Last year was a rebuild or reload year with Licht at the helm. Great drafting by our front office and probably the best free agent pickup since Brady with Baker Mayfield and we are continuing our streak of success this season. This team has a definite championship caliber feel to it. Resilience and grit with great leadership in our veteran studs. The question is what caliber of champion can we become.
