Look For Huggins On The Bench
September 16th, 2010For the second season in a row, it seems Kareem Huggins has an injury that will hold him back from a breakthrough opportunity, assuming the Bucs were actually going to hand him the ball in the first place.
Last year, Huggins injured his knee as he was ascending up the depth chart during preseason games.
This afternoon, the official Buccaneers Twitter feed says Huggins’ tweaked groin is not getting better.
Coach says K.Huggins had a bit of a setback with his injured groin Weds. & if he can’t play either K.Lumpkin or C.Blount would get a shot.
That’s a shame for Huggins. Yesterday, Raheem Morris admitted that he and his staff were probably too apprehensive in getting Huggins carries against Cleveland. And Morris vowed to be more trusting at Carolina.
Joe suspects rookie running back LeGarrette Blount gets the call to replace Huggins.
It’s too bad Dante Wesley now plays for the Lions. He’s the Panther who dropped a major cheap shot on Clifton Smith last year and left him out cold on the Bucs’ home turf. Joe would have enjoyed wondering whether Blount might throw a haymaker at Wesley on Sunday.

Is “setback” the new term for disguising injuries that just “appear”?

Bring on Blount! I am “FIRED UP” about this kid!

Well that sucks for Huggy Bear, but at least we’ll get to see what Blount can do.

I am sure Pumpkin will get some playing time, not Blount. Olson somehow knows what we want and tries his best to do the opposite.

C.Blount is a beast.
They need to be running this guy on 3 and 1. I don’t care how many people he has punched in his life. RUN THIS GUY ON SHORT YARDAGE PLAYS.

McBuc, me too, I watched Blount run all over the Pac 10. Plus, he can cold cock Steve Smith from Carolina if he starts trash talking. We are gonna need to be physical to beat Carolina. It is always a street fight up there. Why not put our new enforcer in the game ?

Blount! I just can’t get excited about Lumpkin. I want to see him get a few touches on running downs. He’s pretty physical, so hopefully he can learn to play passing downs later on for us too.

I hope it’s LeGarrette Blount. I’ve heard much about him and have never seen him actually play.
If he’s as good as people say, poor Huggins might end up waiting a while for another chance.
