Dire Prediction On Brink Of Collaspe

October 11th, 2024

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

If the Bucs can win one more game before the bye, this sorry prediction will likely go up in smoke.

Seth Walder of BSPN, a man who never met a number he didn’t like, had no use for folks trying to tell him the Bucs had good football players. His always trusted-over-evidence spreadsheets told him a different tale.

How sorry did Walder find the Bucs? Channeling his inner-Conor Orr, Walder claimed the Bucs would win no more than six games this season.

The Bucs are 3-2.

Still, Walder is not throwing in the towel yet. His confidence was buoyed the Bucs wouldn’t win any more than six games by the way the Bucs threw away common sense and choked away a win at Atlanta last week.

Why there’s still a chance: This could probably be thrown out, but stranger things have happened. I’m bearish on this prediction after the Buccaneers started the season 3-2, which really could have been 4-1 if not for blowing a win last Thursday to the Falcons. They have looked decent on both sides of the ball; FPI has them at 15th overall. Tampa Bay has a tough stretch coming up at the Saints, vs. the Ravens, vs. the Falcons, at the Chiefs and vs. the 49ers.

“This Joe” was able to see a path to 10 wins for the Bucs but that calculation factored in two wins over Atlanta. That was thrown out the window last week.

To get to 10 wins, Joe thought the Bucs would have to steal a win from somewhere. That steal came in Week 2 at Detroit. So the Bucs stole one and gave one away last week.

Can the Bucs find a way to steal another against the Crows or Chiefs this month?

We can beat SF….not so sure about Ravens or Chiefs

  2. Danfan Says:

Prior to the season starting I thought the 49ers and Chiefs games were certain losses, but the way they’ve played this year, we’re a decent chance to beat them. Ravens not so much though, their defence is too good for us to win in a shootout, and their run game too potent for us to contain.

  3. A Bucs Fan Says:

    Bucs win the next 4

  4. dbbuc711 Says:

After the last game it’s very hard for me to believe we will beat N.O. really hope so but not much confidence.

  5. Mr. Editor Says:

Let’s not forget to keep track of Adam Rank’s predictions. We’re keeping receipts!

  6. Ha-Ha-Ha Says:

Should be 5 and oh Headed to a chance at 6 and oh.
I figured a chance at Detroit since the Bucs start 2-0,
    before returning to form.
The Eagles were a question in search of an answer.
I overlooked the Payton curse counted Denver a win.
Atlanta could have been 4-0 or 0-4 going into
    Thursday night.
This week should be a gimme.
Just like Denver. I have no confidence that the team
    well be ready to play.

  7. Davenport Says:

    Bowles In Tampa
    ’22: 8-9
    ’23: 9-8
’24: pick one of the above

    What a waste of talent

  8. Colonel Angus Says:

5-5 at the bye. 5-2 over the last 7 gets us to 10 wins with some momentum heading into playoffs. Have to win 2 of these next 5, preferably vs Saints and Falcons. I don’t expect to beat Ravens or Chiefs, but 49ers are beatable. Lots of football left.

  9. Nick2 Says:

I’m counting on us to upset the 49ers which will bode well for the playoffs!! Baker will do what Tom could not!!

  10. Bobby M. Says:

Basically we’re on target for another 9-8 season. If that’s the case, Bowles will be fired, the OC will be promoted. He’s had plenty of time, plenty of talent, solid QBs……he’s just not a great HC.

  11. Pewter Power Says:

To win the division the Bucs need at least 10 wins and I don’t think Todd Bowles gets it. This is the season he loses his job and we finally get a real head coach. Mediocre football is getting old, it’s too easy to find a competent defensive coordinator

  12. Pewter Power Says:

Pass rush or not you can’t give up that many yards. Rush yards per game is now ranked better than our pass defense which is 28th. We’re 18th in sacks so that’s good enough not to give away that many yards

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs can beat Frisco and the saints. But we gotta actually do it. I actually think we match up well against the Chiefs also. Now them Ravens is another story…

  14. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    15-2

  15. BillyBucco Says:

SF looked unbeatable last night to me.
You think Geno looked bad against that pressure wait till you see Baker.
The Chiefs have the best defense in the League.
I actually think Baltimore is easier because Lamar can have bad play evidenced by his lack of playoff success when facing better teams.
I think the Bucs CAN beat anyone and when Winfield comes back you will see why.

  16. go dawgs Says:

no is in the bag… book it! go bucs

  17. infomeplease Says:

There’s no more roam for turning wins into losses. It’s up to the coaches and players to always play to win, not to play to not lose

  18. unbelievable Says:

The loss against ATL will probably end up costing us our playoff spot.

  19. Defense Rules Says:

The key to a 10-win season IMO is for us to go 4-2 in the NFC South (going 6-5 in the other 11 games is doable with our schedule). Right now we’re 0-1 in the NFC South, but with 5 division games in front of us, we need to go 4-1 or better. Every game is just as important as every other game.

  20. Tiff, Okla,Bake, Bucs 4 life Says:

Im beluevi g we win vs. Ravens,chiefs,49ers and all rest of our conference games at the very keast….problem solved¡!!!!!¡!!!¡!! Go Baker, Go Bucs!!!! Go Joe lol

  21. GoneGator Says:

If we play complementary football we can beat anybody on any given Sunday .

  22. LakelandSteve Says:

Ravens can run the ball and have two very good tight ends. We can’t cover the middle of the field. Actually I think our best shots of winning are against the Saints and Chiefs. I know the Chiefs have Kelse but they are getting due for a big loss. So why not the Bucs. I don’t think we can beat the niners unless we get some turnovers.

  23. J Says:

If we lose to ATL again that might cost a playoff spot, but we’re not there yet, Unbelievable.

  24. Saskbucs Says:

All the teams are beatable. Who shows up and which coaches have the better plan. I would agree that the Ravens pose the biggest problem for us. We match up well vs the Chiefs now. Rice and Hollywood in there maybe not so much.

Bucs want this one. We are winning by 2 scores Sunday. Saints are old and slow and injured. They have a better offensive scheme and I don’t want to overlook Rattler but high pressure game and the OL is banged up. Kamara is in for a KC repeat, not going far on Vea, Kancey and David.

Commanders are talk of the NFC, let’s hope Baltimore smokes them Sunday and comes down to Tampa a lil arrogant and unprepared.

  25. GoneGator Says:

If we make the necessary adjustments on defense we can beat anybody in the league BUT that’s a big IF

  26. BucU Says:

Since when does Todd Bowles make adjustments?

  27. Hodad Says:

Before the season I was drinking the koolaide thinking we could win 11 games. Now I’m thinking 8, or 9. If that’s the case .500 Bowles will be gone. Unfortunatlly for Todd, Licht, and the Glazers think this team should be contending for a title. Less then 10 wins, and missing the playoffs will get Bowles fired. He only has 2 years left on his deal, and I don’t see the Glazers rushing to extend him.

  28. Big Red Says:

I think Bowles gets far too much heat. Tbf, 8-9 with Brady at the helm was atrocious. A lot of that falls on Brady and Ghislaine drama. That wretched man eater humbled our boy Tom that last year. One of the D-Linemen probably found Tommy crying in the locker room and I was game over from there. There’s a lot of blame to go around. You really can’t be mad at the head coach for players dropping passes, missing throws, missing blocks, or missing tackles.

  29. BallHawk75 Says:

7-10. Bowels is a loser. Perhaps that’s enough to send him packing.

Take him out of the NFC South and his record plummets.

    21-21

Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth???

  30. Daniel Z Says:

When the schedule came out, I figured a 3-3 record over this tough stretch would put the Bucs in a good enough position by the end of the season. They threw away one of the more winnable of those six games, which means they’ll need to take care of the two divisional games and beat one of SF, KC, and Baltimore. Doable, but not if they don’t play four full quarters on both sides of the ball and special teams.

  31. BAKERSBucs see re Says:

why the doom against the Ravens they got beat by the beagles & packers I think we r better than both of them it ain’t over til fat lady screams.lets get the juice flowing this team is capable of beating the best of them

  32. BAKERSBucs see re Says:

A 500 win lose is better than many head coaches in the NFL do u understand what’s coming out my mouth? Moron
