Buccaneers Now Alone Atop NFC South

September 29th, 2024

Joe loved seeing the Falcons and Saints clash in a hot contest that left the Bucs free and clear atop the NFC South.

Atlanta kicked a last-second field goal today to win 26-24 at home. It was a back-and-forth game that saw the fierce division rivals beat the crap out of each other physically.

That puts each team at 2-2 and a full game behind the Bucs, which travel to Atlanta on Thursday night.

    Damn that feels good!

Let’s make sure things stay that way next week too.

Rest up boys, it’s a short week and the Falcons ain’t no joke.

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

HUGE game on a short week Thursday. With Voss hurt who is going to step up on pass defense?

  3. Paratrooper Buc Says:

Bucs that clipped the eagles wings today and tamed the lions need to show up Thursday. Get the win and clip the falcons wings.

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

Also playing in 110 degree weather today has got to impact recovery.

  5. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Poised to take possession of the NFCS with back to back division wins…
LFG Bucs no f ups this times, keep your focus and win

  6. NaplesBucsFan Says:

U a have to just rest this week…no need for outside time, if they do anything do it in the Glazer Shed AC

Just curious? Why was Vita on the field late in the fourth quarter of a game out of reach. With less than 5 I even saw them line Vita up on the right edge..he’s a scary edge rusher as well and ran over any blocker but really? A freaking short week before a CRITICAL Division game and the Bucs are still putting Vea’s knee out there when all players are exhausted and at even greater risk for injury?

I could ask the same thing of the Eagles. I’ve read how much Barkley has improved that team and I AGREE. However they’re also concerned in Philly how a seven year vet with some injuries in the past will last all season at his current pace. Why the Eagles ran him as late as they did also surprised me a bit.

  8. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Seemed like Coen finally figured something out this week with the play calling. Looks like we’re a quick throw team with big throw capability and a somewhat capable run game. Damn I hope we get Goedeke back on Thursday

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Don’t brag. Alone at the top for now Yes. But as we witnessed last week any and everything can happen. Great victory. Celebrate Tonight. Come Thurs we gotta be focused. Short turnaround and up to Atlanta on Thursday. Not an easy game. We gotta be ready and focused. GO BUCS!

  10. LakelandBuc Says:

    Bring them on
The harder they come, the harder they fall

    We ready,

    Dallas
    Kansas City
    Baltimore
    San Francisco
    New Orleans
    Atlanta

    Bring them on

  11. BucsBeast Says:

White needs to switch to WR or 3rd down back.
Dude can’t run the football. It’s a waste of a down when he runs.
I need to see more of Tucker.

  12. BucsBeast Says:

    @Naples
Coen gave up on what was working 1st 3 drives and tried to push the ball.
Those short passes and screens mixed in would’ve really ran the score up.

  13. BucsBeast Says:

We really need all the starters back for these up coming divisional games.
@Joe get us a status update on them.

The Falcons Saints game was excellent for the Bucs! Not just first place for a week.

What a gut wrenching physical game for the two rivals with Kamara snatching a win for the Saints

It looked as if Alvin Kamara given the Saints a victory when he powered in from a yard out for a 24-23 lead with a minute to play. But Kirk Cousins marched the Falcons into scoring position, thanks in part to a 30-yard pass interference penalty against Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo. The Saints have a LONG ride home.

  15. unbelievable Says:

@BucsBeast – White and Irving both had 49 yards on 10 carries today.

When the line does their job, they are both good running backs. Irving has a little more juice and power, White is more shifty in space.

Both have their purpose and both should be utilized every game for rushing and for catching passes IMO. No need to make either one of them 1 dimensional.

  16. unbelievable Says:

(And White actually had the longest run of the day today, not Bucky)

  17. All_da_way Says:

First place with key players still injured. Enjoy it while you can.

  18. MadMax Says:

How bout them dodo birds, lol..great job guys

  19. Winny Testaverde Says:

The Used Carr for MVP and K. Kubiak coordinator of the year/head coach candidate chatter can quiet down a bit now.

While Barkley ran wild to start the 2nd half…I had to wonder why he couldn’t have caught the “lay up” to take out the Falcons? It’s never easy in BucLand.

  20. Pryda30 Says:

There is no way in hell we are going to lose to Atlanta

  21. Creamsicle Says:

Bucs will have no problem beating both if they play like they did against the eagles, not to mention we should have more starters back before we see either. Derek Carr is the definition of “not elite” and it will show as the season goes on. Cousins couldn’t make it happen with the weapons he had at the Vikings and Sam darnold is proving that also. Matter of time before both of their downfalls.

  22. Saskbucs Says:

Where are Trask Fan and rich bucs fan hiding at now? 3-1 with another strong game from the guy who is too short to see over the OL.

  23. Simeon4HOF Says:

Glad the aints got brought back down to their reality

  24. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

St. Pete: Great comment about Vea, as well as others, being in there late on a game out of reach with a Thursday game coming up. That wasn’t smart with a feels like way over 100.
I hope the Bucs don’t get too full of themselves this week. I’m also hoping for Goedecke, Kancey and Winfield to return. Not too optimistic about Kancey as I tore my calf on July 7th, and it’s still f@cked up.

  25. orlbucfan Says:

Bucs owed their fans a win. The area just went through Helene. Detroit proved they can beat any team in the league. Thank you, Tampa Bay. Play your best, Thursday night!!

  26. StickinUp4Centers Says:

So after today’s other games, the Denver loss slightly less embarrassing and the Bucs win over Washington looks better each week

Wise words…except that resting never seems to help this team. But I see your point.

  28. Tom Slick Says:

Foot on the pedal offence and no prevent defense. Much better coaching today!

  29. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

    Opportunity.

I can’t think of a better word to describe this game coming up Thursday.

A national TV audience against a team that was everyone’s preseason darling.

    Getting people back from injury.

Putting an early stamp on the division lead.

This game, and the next week against NO might be the chance for people outside of FL to actually recognize the Bucs as a team worth respecting.
