Stunningly Good Bucs Stat Given Recent Play

September 29th, 2024

Spectacular pass defense.

We all know what kind of defense Bucs coach Todd Bowles wants.

Bowles firmly believes if you stop the run, everything else will take care of itself. Well, the run defense isn’t getting the job done this season.

The Bucs rank seventh-worst in the NFL allowing 4.9 yards a carry. Overall the Bucs are No. 24 (ninth-worst) in total rushing yards, having coughed up 413.

So much for stopping the run.

But as far as pass defense, the Bucs are best in one very important category, despite having no pass rush. The Bucs have yet to give up a touchdown through the air.

And after three weeks, the Bucs have stonewalled opposing quarterbacks from nailing the Bucs with a touchdown pass. In fact, the Bucs are the only NFL team that has not allowed a TD pass.

Again, when you factor in the Bucs can’t breathe on a quarterback, not allowing a touchdown through the air is amazing for a guy committed to stopping the run.

After playing Goff that really is a nice stat. If it comes this week with a WR core that has a total of 6 catches for 36 yards, it will be bad.

  2. Dave Pear Says:

Allowing 26 points to the worst QB in the NFL is nothing to celebrate. That’s an atrocity.

  3. Permanently Moderated Says:

Stats are pretty, but the only thing that matters are wins.

  4. Hodad Says:

But we’ve allowed 3 rushing TDs by rookie QBs.

    TON of field goals

  6. Badbucs Says:

2 rookie running qbs and Detroit where the the RBs score the TDs. Quite an accomplishment. I don’t think this is the tome for patting ourselves on the back for the irrelevant.

    Go Bucs!!!

    Seek and ye shall find!

    Especially after three games.

  9. Oak Says:

Why put the ball in the air when it’s so easy to score rushing touchdowns? You got to be good at both to win championships.
