Todd Bowles Owns Jalen Hurts

September 26th, 2024

If you believe in coaching and performance trends like Sean Payton teams owning Todd Bowles’ defenses, then you’ll love this one (graphic below).

It’s from ESPN TV and it outlines how Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts struggles mightily when he faces a Todd Bowles defense.

The Bucs (2-1) host the Eagles (2-1) on Sunday at The Licht House in a game that’s absolutely September critical for both teams.

As Joe noted, the Eagles likely will be missing stud receivers A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith and Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson.

Hurts’ interception numbers against the Bucs intrigue Joe. Hurts didn’t throw many picks in his first two seasons but chucked 15 last year and now has 4 in 3 games this season.

Perhaps he doesn’t do well recognizing all the blitzes and disguises Bowles throws at quarterbacks. Of course, that doesn’t always matter much when there’s no pass rush, as the Bucs displayed Sunday against the Broncos.

Joe’s not thinking Hurts will magically master the Bucs defense this Sunday without his top targets. But if running back Saquon Barkley runs wild, then he might not have to.

    Bucs Lose
Bucs can’t stop the run without a DL and Bowles keeps playing Britt. Barkley and Hurts. That’s a bad combo for the Bucs.

Coen can’t adjust to the pass rush. Baker has PTSD at this point. Here come the happy feet. He’ll throw more INTs.

  2. Booger Says:

Don’t you dare do it, AGAIN LoL.

  3. heyjude Says:

Oh no. Not going there 😂. However, Jalen hasn’t been up and down. You never know. Yes, more worried about Barkley.

  4. First Name Greatest Says:

If you watched Weeks 2 and 3 closely you can easily see this team has been outcoached badly the last 2 weeks.

Unless this defense lucks into a turnover they have a hard time stopping teams.

    The offense can’t run, still

  5. Larrd Says:

With all the Philly backups playing Bowles might tell the defense to back off so he can get some tape on the Philly backups and what they do best, for next time.

    3D chess!

  6. Woodenman Says:

WTF are you talking bout last greatest they beat a lions team giving up 1 td with 3 front line starters being out and last week we had 4 starters out I say look at the other side ball .

  7. David Says:

NOTHING will matter if the Bucs do not win the trenches!

    O LINE
    D LINE
    Protect the QB
    Get after the QB

It is where every game in the history of the NFL has been won

  8. Hodad Says:

Todd did not own Hurts during the regular season. As I remember we were whipped that Monday night. This is the rubber match from last year. We’ll soon see who owns who.

  9. Dave Pear Says:

Todd doesn’t own any quarterback. Score 30+. Otherwise, 2-7.

  10. Pewter Power Says:

Bucs can’t even with an all out blitz. With zero pass rush, no Vea to stop the run and no Winfield lol Trask could quarterback a blowout for the eagles against us. Bucs will be well rested after this beat down

  11. FortMyersDave Says:

Still, as Hodad just mentioned the one win Hurts got over Bowels was that 25-11 boat racing the Bucs got in week 3 of last year, Hurts had 2 picks but Swift gashed the Bucs for about 140 yards on the ground……. Hopefully Hurts is 1-4 to Bowles after Sunday. Prayers to all in the Big Bend area, this storm looks nasty, already some flooding in Lee and Charlotte County and the wind has not come ashore yet…..

  12. BuxfaninTX Says:

    Vita Vea owned Jason Kelce..

  13. PewterStiffArm Says:

Be careful what you say, be careful. I thought we should have owned the Bronco’s last week. Philly, is much better than Denver.

  14. Idroolpewter&red Says:

I think the Bucs will have a much better game this week than last week. That being said, I think we need Vea and Goedeke playing to beat the Eagles.

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

What’s going to be worse than our loss to the Eagles is if the Broncos go back to their pre Buc ways not being able to score or win a game.

I’ll be very (pleasantly) surprised if they beat the Eagles on Sunday
