Wounded Eagles; Wounded Bucs Include Chris Godwin

September 25th, 2024

Out.

Eagles receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith — ever heard of them? — were not at the Eagles’ indoor practice today.

Brown has a bad hamstring and has missed the last two games. Smith suffered a very scary concussion Sunday in New Orleans. Those guys combined for more than 2,500 yards of receiving last season.

Stud Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson (concussion) also did not practice today, and neither did starting big-money left tackle Jordan Mailata (undisclosed injury).

So it’s not just Tampa Bay with injuries to multiple star players.

Man, if those Eagles don’t play Sunday in Tampa, it should be a beautiful thing for the Bucs.

As Joe wrote earlier, Calijah Kancey (calf) was a no-go at practice today. Vita Vea (knee) was very limited, as was Luke Goedeke (concussion). Antoine Winfield (ankle) has no official green light after his Week 1 injury.

Mike Evans (knee) and Chris Godwin (neck) were both limited.

Add left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee) to the limited list, along with defensive linemen William Gholston (knee) and Logan Hall (foot), plus center Graham Barton (ankle) and running back Bucky Irving (hamstring).

Backup tight end Ko Kieft (ankle) backup wide receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle) also did not practice.

The backup WRs will get their opportunities against the Bucs. They’re probably home licking their chops now. If the Bucs front 7 don’t get a pass rush against Hurts, he’s going to destroy them with arm and legs. I can’t wait to see what the Bucs offense do against Philly defense.

It will be more entertaining with TB calling the game

  2. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

If both of the Eagles starting WRs are out – we have a real shot at winning this – if their QB and RB and entire OL take a day off.

Come on Bucs – fight like you did against the Lions!! LFG!

  3. Lakeland Says:

The Eagles offense is 2nd in Total Yards
    3rd in Rushing Yards
    5th in Passing Yards

The Bucs offense gotta help the defense
With time of possession and points

  4. A Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs have 11 starters limited or DNP. Including the top 4 DT’s. 3 starting olineman and the two top WR’s and the only RB that can actually run. Rough.

  5. heyjude Says:

Wow, a lot of injuries on the Eagles.

Worried that Evans, Godwin, Bucky, Graham, Wirfs, Gholston, and Hall are limited. No wonder practice was gentle this week. Needed to be.

  6. SlyPirate Says:

    ZERO CHANCE OFFENSE …
When you get exposed in the NFL, every team exploits your weakness. You either change or lose. Coen’s offense is a mess. He couldn’t figure out how to adjust from Detroit’s rush to Denver’s rush. Coen is looking like to be a one-trick pony.

    COMPLIMENTARY FOOTBALL? …
Bowles isn’t helping out much. The DL is too injured to keep the Bucs in the game. The Bucs will start Britt. The OLB won’t get pressure. Look for Philly to have a record day running the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Philly exceed 200 yards rushing.

    IT GETS WORSE …
Baker has eaten way too many sacks. He’s already been sacked more times than TB12 used to get sacked in a season. Philly’s DL is better than Denver’s DL. Maybe better than Detroit, too. If Baker eats another 4-7 sacks, he’ll get injured. Season over.

  7. AJ Turn up Says:

If Coaching comes prepared it’s no reason the Bucs should lose.
Bowles: play more man press if Brown and Smith are out there’s no need to cushion coverage against back up receivers. Load the box and stop Barkley not only in the run but for short dink and dunk passes. Qb spy is imperative since Jalen will be without his star receivers he’ll be looking to run more.
Coen: GET MIKE INVOLVED in all phases from short, intermediate, and deep passes. Bootleg rollouts where Baker thrives on making passes on the run and don’t make him so stationary, get more crossing routes with Godwin and Palmer. Use Irving more than White. Problem solved. Go Bucs

  8. heyjude Says:

SlyPirate – Hoping to see better days of Coen. I was surprised Baker didn’t get hurt this past Sunday. He kept getting up and fighting. Hopefully this Sunday he is sack free. Cannot have him injured. The Eagles have quite a few injuries too. That may help us out.

  9. Lakeland Says:

If they don’t contain Saquon Barkley, he may gain 200 rushing yards alone!

  10. Hodad Says:

Kam Johmson injured, how? I didn’t even see him play Sunday, or the 2 weeks before. He missed most of camp, injured. A wasted roster spot for another small school walk on. Bunch of China dolls on this team. They get injured doing next to nothing.

  11. Kenton Smith Says:

If the Eagles don’t have either OT – that’ll be a bigger loss for them than their WRs being out – I think we win.

  12. Dave Pear Says:

We couldn’t beat the Broncos with the worst AB in the NFL and a bartender who somehow looked like Paul Gruber against our very well coached defense.

Right now and until the offense can start humming again (meaning Goedeke or T least a less incompetent replacement than Corpseboy), Todd would have trouble beating Rice.

  13. Dave Pear Says:

    *QB

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Of course Kancy is a no go. Wonder if Kancy will end up on injured reserve? Probably going to be a total waste of a draft pick.

  15. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

Bucs are a MASH unit right now.

    The blessings of camp cupcake.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

Bucs would lose even if at full strength. This team has the talent but not the heart. I won’t even think about us being division winners until we can at least score on the first drive of a game.

  17. First Name Greatest Says:

Any Eagle WR will torch this soft zone coverage, especially with no pass rush.

  18. Creamsicle Says:

When the coaching staff opens their eyes and realizes that players like Cody Mauch, KJ Britt, Logan Hall and even Tyron-Shoyinka have no business on a starting lineup things will not change. I’ve watched these players week in and week out get completely embarrassed by opposing players. Do these guys actually watch tape? Why is it our best players get hurt? Probably because they’re playing to pick of the slack of these other players who have no business being on the field.

  19. Creamsicle Says:

I get it, Good teams lose too. But that wasent just a loss. They came on our home field and absolutely bullied us on both sides of the ball. Idc how good Surtain is or bad our o line was. When you have possibly one of the best WRs of all time on your team and he’s 3rd in the league on separation there’s no excuse for only 3 targets.

  20. BucsBeast Says:

Weird how all these professional athletes who werw basically forced to take a certain “medicine” all getting injured lately.

  21. Simeon4HOF Says:

Thats a lotta nicks. Hopefully our $80 milly Game changin Safety or Calfman are back for a huge game in ATL, NO at latest I guess

  22. Lakeland Says:

I was reading yesterday that the Bucs placed their Long Snapper on IR. I think he pulled his hammy. Injuries everywhere for the Bucs.

  23. Pewter Power Says:

You don’t need star receivers to pick a part a Todd Bowles zone with zero pass rush.

  24. Jmarkbuc Says:

3 games in.. The whole league is like a M.A.S.H. Unit.
    🤔

  25. Crickett Baker Says:

I counted 16 players on the injury report. I counted 2x. No one said “rest”. I don’t think I have ever seen an injury report with so many wounded.

  26. Bucschamp Says:

Some of these are just smokescreen some are real. But I think theres something wrong with Wirfs. He fell down and was slowly crawling after baker was sacked early in the 4th vs broncos. Hopefully that knee is not a big deal

  27. Bucs4Ever Says:

The lack of hitting in preseason and practice shows.

I’d like to see a chart over time and injuries.

    There is possibly a correlation.

  28. billyboy187 Says:

We just gotta win the NFC SOUTH BOYS THATS IT YAH YOU heard me billyboy is here with his knowledge and i tell yah these backups gonna get a real test and well it ant looking to good for these backups but hey we bring in starters for the games that matter we got a shot.. but this is billyboy advice we gotta know them birds and who dat kitty kats outta the park!

  29. ChiBuc Says:

    @Creamsicle, 💯…on both posts!

  30. Dave Pear Says:

How can Baker have any confidence at all when his HC, OC and GM have all ignored the ultimate turnstile at RT since Glass Eating Donkey went down? This is certifiably insane. The defense is decimated. Fact.

Fix the issue at RT, even if it means sacrificing an eligible for half the plays or more.

    Do something. Different.

This alone is a sign that Bowels has no business being a Head Coach. He complains after the fact but takes no action in advance of a game to correct the previous atrocities.

    Jason — it’s time.

  31. Badbucs Says:

The entire chat room gets it. A few bad players stubbornly kept on the field ruining any chance for success. Coaches incapable of adjusting to the obvious shortcomings. The multitude of injuries partially attributed to the wussified preseason along with some bad luck has just overwhelmed their limited capabilities. We have an opportunity to take advantage of a depleted Eagles team. Is Bowles up to the task? Or will he just reach into his giant bag of excuses as usual?

  32. Booger Says:

I can’t understand all of these injuries all across the league this season, through JUST THREE GAMES… Given all the hoops they’ve jumped through with literally, everything being geared towards “player safety,” etc. It makes no sense. One thing, they’ve GOT TO get rid of all of these ‘synthetic turf’ fields across the league. I don’t care if it’s ‘indoors’ or WHAT… Do Something. Different. IMMEDIATELY. Figure it OUT. Fix-It NOW, because this has gotten ridiculous.

  33. adam from ny Says:

will devin white be playing…we shall see

  34. adam from ny Says:

if he gets no run vs his old team, he’s a bottom of the roster guy at this point…

he should be itching to get in there and turn up on the bucs…and his coaches know that…

if he rides the pine (plastic bench) the entire time then he’s already flopped out in philly

  35. Nope Says:

    Bo Nix!! 🤣🤣🤣

  36. BucU Says:

“”As Joe wrote earlier, Calijah Kancey (calf) was a no-go at practice today.””

What a joke this guy is. He’s a straight up BUM.

  37. Jason Says:

This is what happens when you have a soft training camp. Don’t play in the preseason and aren’t in game shape when the season starts. Stop babying these players before the season. Look where trying to prevent injuries in training camp got us.

  38. Architek Says:

Somehow they will find a way to out coach Bowles and beat Bucs.

  39. Buc2Blame Says:

We still get blown out cause Tampa doesn’t just lose this team gets humiliated when we lose our games

  40. Badbucs Says:

I hope they put White in there. I’m sure we can get him to chase his tail. Only problem is we have no one capable of blocking him in the middle. Philly might be smart enough to blitz up the middle every play. Even that moron can do that. Mauch and Brederson can take his ticket each time he goes through the turnstile.

  41. BucU Says:

“”How can Baker have any confidence at all when his HC, OC and GM have all ignored the ultimate turnstile at RT since Glass Eating Donkey went down? This is certifiably insane. The defense is decimated. Fact.””

Mauch is about as bad as Skule. He get’s beat quickly and constantly.
