SirVocea Dennis Makes Statement While Off The Field
September 23rd, 2024Bucs backup linebacker SirVocea Dennis didn’t quite make the statement yesterday that he did in Detroit last week when he turned into a one-man wrecking crew.
Dennis rotates with K.J. Britt at inside linebacker. Joe had suggested Dennis should be starting after the way he played in Detroit. And Dennis’ absence on the field during a key play yesterday may actually boost his future snap counts.
When Broncos running back Jaleel McLaughlin ran right and looked, for a moment, to be stopped by Anthony Nelson on 4th-and-goal in the first quarter, McLaughlin juked Nelson so badly he broke his ankles. With the opening, McLaughlin ran right to the sidelines. Britt looked like he had a play on him. Britt didn’t take the greatest angle but here is where Britt’s lack of burst caught up with him.
If Britt had been a step or two quicker, McLaughlin is knocked out of bounds or tackled and the Bucs take over on downs and avoid trailing 14-0.
Joe firmly believes if speedy Dennis was on the field, he would have leveled McLaughlin. That’s the difference in the NFL sometimes, a split second.
Joe is not ragging on Britt here. He’s tough. Joe loves his attitude and he is an emotional leader. In the NFL, however, speed kills. You can have the biggest heart but without the wheels, a dude is limited.

That play crushed me. We had Jaleel and then we didn’t. Game-changer too. I hadn’t noticed before re-watching the video now that Culp clapped afterwards. He must have saw the play differently at the end zone, or clapped out of frustration.

wow, just wow, Britt is slow
September 23rd, 2024 at 6:23 am
That play summed up the game. We were slower to the ball. Lacked fight. Lacked desire. Played like Denver was just going to roll over.
September 23rd, 2024 at 6:26 am
I agree, less Britt is a better case than less R. White.
That said, Nelson actually Jukes Britt by failing to keep the RB inside. All he had to do was keep running.
Watch it again, that was not a speed issue.
But yeah, Dennis has the ability to make up for his teammates mistakes. Which is a whole new category of goodness Dennis brings to the field.

I’m sorry I just never had much faith in Todd Bowles and his decision making. We have plenty of talent we just need a real head coach.
September 23rd, 2024 at 6:38 am
Pathetic effort. Pathetic performance. Fool me once shame on you. There won’t be a twice.

LMYYBUCS –
Agree with you. Coaching decisions are the biggest concern.
September 23rd, 2024 at 7:21 am
Nelson is in good position to use the sideline.
If he turns the play back inside support is waiting.
That play is on Nelson. He didn’t set the edge.
Having said that … I’d like to see more Dennis.

“That play summed up the game. We were slower to the ball. Lacked fight. Lacked desire. Played like Denver was just going to roll over.”
Spot on. Bowles needs to fix this now. Not like last season where this funk lingers over 6 weeks.
September 23rd, 2024 at 7:30 am
Maybe Joe, but I watched Dennis freeze on the goal line, and Bo Nix made a fool of him on his TD run. Bottom line, when you have two MLBs you have none. Britt obviously doesn’t have the talent. Might as well start Dennis, but I don’t think he’s the long term answer either.

LUVMYBUCS … ‘I’m sorry I just never had much faith in Todd Bowles and his decision making. We have plenty of talent we just need a real head coach.’
Bucs best talent was not on the field yesterday, and it hurt … big time. Vea & Kancey were desperately needed in the interior DLine, because our 2nd stringers can’t get pressure with even 1 v 1’s. And sure would like to have Winfield back because he’s very ‘opportunistic’. And oh ya, when your OLine gives up 12 sacks in 2 games, while it’s missing Luke Goedeke, MAYBE that missing piece makes a difference?
Do agree with you though that it was a poorly coached game, on BOTH sides of the ball. Normally we can count on the defense to excel (Game 2), or the offense to excel (Game 1). Yesterday they both crapped the bed.

Bowles Career record: 46 – 61
September 23rd, 2024 at 7:55 am
Davenport
Do Mayfield next. Oh wait, his record does not matter cause his Moxie actually won me over.
I love Baker now more than ever. Just wish he would learn to be consistent. But he has been in the league for a minute. He is who he is.
Dalton in Carolina is what Baker is here. Just a stop gap that can win games from time to time. We need Baker to step up. But thats really hard to do at size
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:06 am
Hopefully it will change later in the week, but right now I have no faith that they will beat the Eagles.
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:09 am
Stop being cute bring back shaq and d white!!!!
Shaq sets the edge yea yea sacks sacks I got it. But the containing and gap control matters. As for white speed kills blitzing and he would have stopped the run above bring them home!!!

Bucs fans keep moaning about the Head Coach.
My question to you all, how can you coach successfully in the NFL. When your best players are always standing next to you in street clothes? Jason Licht spent 2 1st round picks on 2 interior D- Linemen. And they both were in street clothes yesterday. They were replaced by USFAs, late round draft picks. This defense is built around the interior of the defense creating havoc, while creating space for the OLBs. And it don’t help that your best blitzing Safety is also in street clothes.
In order for this defense to be successful
The players has to be on the field

Both lines got whipped. No matter how much you change the rules of football, if you can’t pass rush and pass block you will lose more than you win.
I still think 7 or 8 wins is reasonable to expect. Sean Payton just exposed many weaknesses.
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:32 am
Payton took Bowles to the woodshed just like he always has….Coen wasn’t much better…overall it was a very poorly coached game . Yes, we were shorthanded but we were last week too. How can we blitz so many times but never get home? Someone needs to answer that question. We were not prepared to play this game and when that happens in the NFL you get your ass beat….
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:33 am
The offense is getting pushed arould like ragged dolls. The best receivers are not target. The offense scored 7 points yesterday off a turnover……this supposed to be a high powered offense. There’s only one starter out on offense
The problem Bucs fans has
They expect the defense to bail out the offense every game
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:37 am
Sean Payton didn’t nesseccary out coach Bowles, or his staff. As an experienced successful NFL head coach.
He simply took advantage of the Bucs injuries
He exploited the Bucs weakness
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:42 am
The Bucs can expect for teams to game plan their weakness
Which is their backup players, this is only common sense
You’re not going to be successful in the NFL with a boat load of injured starters, or starters less than 100%.
If someone thinks they can
Then they crazy
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:50 am
What are u talking about the best players where on the field Mike Evans Godwin ect ect and we only score 7 furthermore, a good team adjust Vita Vea isn’t the Bucs life line yes he is good player but a good coaching staff knows players are gonna go down and they should be ready. Did u all see all those missed tackle’s did you all see how poorly the o line protected? How long does it take for a coaching staff to realize White is not a starter running back how many years do we have to sit back and watch Dean get beat, o yes he makes a good play here and there but geez when he gets beat he gets beat big time. Sorry Mr. Bowles I have been ready for your exit for a while now. We have to much talent to be wasted on a coach that has been fired twice and has no clue what he is doing.
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:52 am
There was many plays Dennis was just dancing around with no urgency. Almost entire defense looked slow and hungover.
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:53 am
Ben Bredeson
Cody Mauch
Justin Skule
Cade Otton
CJ Brewer
Greg Gaines
William Gholston
KJ Britt
JTS
Christian Izien
In my opinions these are NFL backups
Graham Barton
Jalen McMillan
Tykee Smith
These are rookies
This is the reality of the Bucs starters
September 23rd, 2024 at 8:56 am
Soul crushing game. Just so many mistakes and bad play and self imposed losing.
That play was horrible. We had some other play where we had what would have had a turnover but we were offsides or something. The weird false start or whatever on Barton. The missed 4th downs and dropped passes. Giving up a 3rd and long conversion when we had the Broncos on their own like 5. The bad passes by Baker Mayfield for turnovers. The list goes on. Moment after moment we just kept not making a play when needed or giving one up when they needed it or doing something dumb as hell when it was a good time to ruin a drive or momentum.
Just a horrific self implosion.
We need to draft more DT’s.
Biggest disappointment was the offense for me.
September 23rd, 2024 at 9:00 am
What good is 2 Pro Bowl WRs when your QB been sacked 12 times in 2 games??
September 23rd, 2024 at 9:01 am
We need to draft more DT’s –
especially when you’re having to play Arsenio Hall on the DLine
September 23rd, 2024 at 9:02 am
Well that running back is great
Wait no he is not
September 23rd, 2024 at 9:14 am
After every preseason game we were all SCREAMING “Britt is too slow!”
Remember Neal? Bowles wouldn’t move on until the guy lost us 2-3 games.
September 23rd, 2024 at 9:52 am
Britt reminds me of MJ Stewart. Both understand the game pretty well. Yet are just too slow and get exposed.
September 23rd, 2024 at 10:00 am
I notice Britt is late on any play outside the tackles.
Bowles thinks Britt is leader of the defense, I guess because Britt yaps so much. White was a yapper, too.
Sirvocea can blitz and cover.
September 23rd, 2024 at 12:04 pm
Nelson was supposed to set the boundary, and force the runner back inside.
END OF STORY!
September 23rd, 2024 at 12:14 pm
Bowles stubbornness will be his undoing.
Everyone with eyeballs can see SVD is better than Britt. Except Bowles.
Everyone can see Bucky needs more touches, except Bowles (until yesterday)
Last year everyone could see YaYa needed to start over JTS, except Bowles.
Notice a pattern?
September 23rd, 2024 at 5:11 pm
Smirky and his staff coached his team up. Got his team prepared. TB, LC, and their staff didn’t do a very good job of getting the Bucs prepared. They are capable of that as the Detroit game showed. Yesterday the team wasn’t ready and the coaches made few effective adjustments during the game. It showed big time. They get another chance next Sunday against a pretty good team. Hopefully they do better.
September 23rd, 2024 at 6:20 pm
That play is on Nelson. He bites on the fake. Should have kept pressing outside leverage to force him back to the trailing teammates.
September 24th, 2024 at 3:55 pm
Nelson should have continued toward the sideline to force the RB back inside where he had help. Taking the juke effectively gave up the edge that Nelson had up to that point established well.
