Good Bucs Vibes On ESPN Australia

September 12th, 2024

Joe not a big fan of BSPN, but the network better known as ESPN might have something special going on at its Australia outfit.

Apparently, ESPN2 in Australia (at 3 a.m. Monday local time in Sydney and Melbourne) will broadcast Sunday’s Bucs-Lions game in Detroit.  It’s not a nationally televised contest in the United States.

That put former Jets and Dolphins front office guru Mike Tannenbaum on the Aussie ESPN airwaves to advise the locals and kangaroos that he picks the Bucs to beat the Lions.

“I actually like Tampa Bay going in with a massive chip on their shoulder and winning this week in Detroit,” Tannenbaum said.

Man, Joe loves the optimism. And Joe probably would be right there with Tannenbaum if the Bucs didn’t have a load of injuries on defense that includes Calijah Kancey, Logan Hall and Antoine Winfield, Jr., plus reserve cornerbacks and possibly starting corner Zyon McCollum (concussion).

Holding the Lions under 30 points at home is a challenge. The busted the 30 mark in 6 home games last year.

Does Joe think the Bucs can put 30 on Detroit? Yes. But it’ll be a lot harder to do if the run-heavy Lions control time of possession. The Bucs had a 7-plus minute advantage in that department Sunday against Washington.

Well, Britt is better against the run, so there’s that

We’ll have to be absolutely turnover-free and probably win a one-score game to have a chance. I’d feel differently if we had all our guys, but my guess is it’s going to be frustrating watching Goff covert a boatload of 3rd downs and the Lions win by two scores.

Unrelated to this article Joe but thought I would throw out Gerald McCoy was on a podcast with DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy and they talked about the infamous eat a W by Jameis and some other notes that day.

You may have already seen it, but thought I would share!

Detroit is dealing with some injuries as well. Marcus Davenport, Penei Sewell, Kerby Joseph and Ifeatu Melifonwu all DNP, and Jameson Williams was LP.

Goedeke is my biggest worry. Luckily that’s not mayfields blindside so he will have checkdowns if the pressure is too hot. But still, this Lions offense is almost guaranteed to score 30, so we need to be very efficient on offense if we want to have a shot at winning

  6. Cleanhouse Says:

All of the good vibes and international hype will settle right down if we get crushed in Detroit. Considering how injury depleted we are, it could go either way.

We definitely need to put up points.

I would be hopeful if we weren’t so banged up.

I’ve listened to Bucs games where between 1/3 to 1/2 the starters were on IR. They weren’t the excellent across-the-board outfit like they are now. They won in Cardiac Bucs style. They weren’t favored either. So, the Lions are banged up a little, too. Didn’t the Rams play them minus Aaron Daniel or whatever that monster defender’s name is? We have something they don’t have, and that’s no respect nationwide. What’s the line now, Lions by 10? It’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure. Go Bucs!!

Too many negatives give them good vibes before they head to Detroit

  16. Pewter Power Says:

I’m rooting for the upset but If we can’t run the ball WHITE how can we win? In all reality we don’t really know enough about our offensive Coordinator yet to say he’ll go out and put up big numbers against Detroit and Bowles well he hasn’t shown he can beat Goff yet. We have the players our coaches are the ones with the most to prove
