Jon Gruden: “I’m Still Preparing To Come Back And Coach”
September 10th, 2024It’s nearing the three-year anniversary of Jon Gruden getting ripped out of the Buccaneers’ Ring of Honor because, as the Bucs wrote in a statement “… his actions go against our core values as an organization.”
Yes, Antonio Brown was on the Bucs’ roster at the time.
It’s a sore subject for many fans who don’t believe old, inappropriate Gruden emails rise to the level of Team Glazer trying to erase proud franchise history.
Ironically, last Joe checked, there’s still a statue of Gruden in the lobby of Buccaneers headquarters, alongside statues of other key figures on the 2002 Super Bowl team. Buccaneers corporate partners are invited to that building to come and be exposed to the team’s “core values.” Loads of Bucs employees also walk right past it enroute to their desks, as well.
Anyway, Gruden has moved on and, at 61 years old, he’s eager to get back in the game. He made that clear on SiriusXM NFL Radio last week.
“You know, I visited several training camps. I’m still preparing to come back and coach, I just gotta find somebody that believes in me,” Gruden said.
In the meantime, Gruden Loves Football is Chucky’s new YouTube channel, where he’s been found gushing over Bucs rookie center Graham Barton.

Are we going to have any statues or anything to commemorate our latest Superbowl winning team?
September 10th, 2024 at 10:26 am
I can’t see Cleveland having any moral issues against him…
September 10th, 2024 at 10:28 am
Doubtful he could get a HC job but if he can get an offensive coordinator job and and then turn around a struggling team’s offense he could move up to HC for an average team. A career .500 coach with a Super Bowl. He should never be given any drafting authority as after McKay left the Bucs really struggled developing talent in house.

He got a MASSIVE PAYDAY coming from the NFL… I hope he gets a chance to coach again and has grown as a person
September 10th, 2024 at 10:51 am
Anybody knows why Ian Beckles podcast is missing this week?
September 10th, 2024 at 11:01 am
Sucks he was outed. That was total BS and he is certainly a victim of a very ugly campaign by a bunch of sleazy suits. However, Gruden said what he said and that revealed an ugly side of him that incontrovertibly exists. He should own it. That would go a long way in him being able to move forward professionally and in the court of public opinion.

Cybetsecurity_Intern,
Are you stupid or something???
(Forest Gump movie reference)
I watched In the Trenches last night

I often disagree with the Joes, but I can get behind this Gruden PR campaign 100%. He was screwed. “He who is without sin, throw the first stone”.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:11 am
Andy Reid should make him assistant hc or something. That organization seems to take the media heat pretty well.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:25 am
Nah… he made his bed by sending the emails… he was outed… he can’t be trusted by the players who he would have to coach.
It makes sense why he is unofficially banned.
A good percentage of the players would not be able to look past his comments.
Gruden actually has the audacity to publicly state he should come back and coach…
Throw him in the pile with Pete Rose, Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:26 am
Regardless of the emails, this guy has a reputation for lacking humility, even to the people cutting the checks. He has himself to blame. I’m sure him STILL having such sour grapes over his firing from the Bucs, before and after the ROH stuff, isn’t lost on other NFL owners.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:26 am
Maybe the Kitties will believe in Gruden. It sure does not look like RahRah Canales is the answer…
September 10th, 2024 at 11:29 am
I’m with you. He was 23-31 during his second time in Oakland. He used to be that young coach that NFL teams covet these days. Now he’d be a retread of someone signed him. I think his time as an NFL coach is over, but if he gets another opportunity he’s going to have to rebuild his brand again. I love his YouTube channel. I think he should be doing this for a while.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:36 am
Don’t put Pete Rose in that pile. He actually deserves to be in the Hall.

It’s a sore subject for many fans who don’t believe old, inappropriate Gruden emails rise to the level of Team Glazer trying to erase proud franchise history. ( well said )
September 10th, 2024 at 11:40 am
Maybe he can coach a flag football team around.
September 10th, 2024 at 11:41 am
Egoman is ancient history. He’s been here so we don’t need a rehash. He’s also $$set.$$ If he’s too stupid to erase incriminating emails on his OFFICE computer, later as in never. He made his idiotic bed. Dumbo. We are doing just fine, Chucky. Better make sure your seawall is set on your GOM crib.
September 10th, 2024 at 12:01 pm
Jon Gruden should have never been booted out of the ring of honor with the Bucs. Total bs on the Glazers for that one for sure.
September 10th, 2024 at 12:07 pm
@Eric thats not what your mom said last night, i guess thats when you were watching it
September 10th, 2024 at 12:25 pm
I don’t remember the emails specifically. I don’t remember any players complaining about Gruden or his perspective before or after the emails, either. I would be curious to see what Brooks or Sapp or Ronde think about it all.
September 10th, 2024 at 12:47 pm
Get him to be OC in Gainesville.
September 10th, 2024 at 12:50 pm
Cleveland may as well move on him now. He’s an Ohio native and the Browns are a mess.
September 10th, 2024 at 12:59 pm
When any of “us” JBF posters get “Our Own” NFL Franchise, and Set up Honors in the Stadium. You too would be able to remove anyone from that position of Honor you bestowed upon them. Especially if that person has spoken unflattering words against you, in private that get back to you… I can tell by the other words said by folks on JBF posts that if it were one of us that unflattering words about you got back to you, you would what??? Turn your other cheek, or want an eye for and eye??? Yeah… which is it?
Good Luck Jon on your new venture, Thank You for our first Super Bowl victory.
GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!

Gruden did nothing wrong
September 10th, 2024 at 1:22 pm
Cleveland is the place for Gruden to land. They have an equal level of desperation. Browns fans are as hungry for credibility as Chucky is for one last go around at HC.
September 10th, 2024 at 1:31 pm
I’m not so sure he should coach again, just based on his career record and trajectory. But taking his name off the ring of honor was disgusting.
September 10th, 2024 at 2:06 pm
I’m not a big fan of Gruden’s but I am a real big fan of personal privacy. Gruden’s was destroyed and violated when the very personal emails to that God awful Redskin GM were exposed. Everyone, white, black brown, and yellow says things in private they would never say in public. Gruden’s personal privacy was violated by the NFL and I hope they end up paying through the nose for it.
September 10th, 2024 at 2:23 pm
Jon Gruden is a native-born son who will always be a hero in my book. People talk sh*t about other people. SFW. Gruden’s name belongs in the ring of honor.
Todd Bowles strongly believes (along with most people) that Washington Redskins name should never have been changed. Should that keep him out of the Ring of Honor should he lead the Bucs to win a couple SuperBowls as a head coach?
We are human beings crude and imperfect by nature. Hopefully, striving to be better men/women each day as we grow older in this world. This is a gladiator sport payed by strong and fast brutes for the entertainment of fans who cheer for victories. It is not a pious achievement badge handed out by The Boy Scouts. Oh, wait, are we allowed to mention Boy Scouts anymore? Sigh.
September 10th, 2024 at 2:48 pm
I completely agree. Everyone has said something off color at least once in their life. Even people who self-censor themselves have probably said one thing at one time that a group would take great offense at. Imagine if someone caught it on camera the one time you weren’t at your very best.
September 10th, 2024 at 2:50 pm
Interesting…I’m not sure why my post from earlier and a few other comments were deleted. I’m talking about the ones specific to his coaching record.
September 10th, 2024 at 3:07 pm
Nice post, Tampa2.
I did think his statue was torn down, Joe, but I haven’t been there like you have. Are you sure?
I do like the PR JBF has given Gruden, too.
September 10th, 2024 at 4:13 pm
Lol
Dude, you’re ban from the NFL
September 10th, 2024 at 4:15 pm
It’s nearing the three-year anniversary of Jon Gruden getting ripped out of the Buccaneers’ Ring of Honor because, as the Bucs wrote in a statement “… his actions go against our core values as an organization.”
———-
Telling locker room jokes in private goes again the ‘core values’ of the team? Huh? I’m not in the least a Gruden fan, he only won with Dungy’s team and destroyed what should have been a dynstanty to sign stupid players like Charlie Garner and Tim Brown while letting Warren Sapp and John Lynch go. But, with that said, the railroading of Gruden is complete BS.
September 10th, 2024 at 6:46 pm
Yawn, he’s a 500 coach with an outdated playbook, when was the last time he had a good team. Yes, that would be 2002. In his last stop he was 22-31. Facts. The dude has been a loser coach since the Super Bowl. Hopefully he replaces Allen in New Orleans so the Aint’s will continue to get worse. The Gruden slurping from this website is just plain stupid.

Waterboy Says:
How many chances does a coach with a .500 winning record typically get?
Well Baker got stuck with starting his career with the second worst coach as measured by winning % (minimum50 games) Hue Jackson at .205%. If you remove the games Baker played for him (wins and losses) and Jackson is the worst HC in history. NOTE: stats per Pro Football Reference.
So if you want to keep Chucky out of the league, his record as a HC wouldn’t be reason #1. Lots of other reasons, but very average HCs get a second, third, fourth, fifth chance all the time.
September 11th, 2024 at 12:33 am
I like Gruden as a personality, but not as a coach. I think the game moved past him long long back. He was always a guy that would rather work with a over the hill veteran group of players that can understand and play within his system than change his system to take advantage of athletes in their prime or raw youngsters who need to be eased in.
September 11th, 2024 at 7:45 am
It’s shocking to me that a historic winner that brought absolute glory to a dismal “Suckaneers” franchise would scrubbed from the Buccaneer Ring of Honor simply because of a late night private email between old friends.
All he privately said was that some dude had “Michelin lips” and that one of the Buc’s owners might be a little light in the loafers. Not that there is anything wrong with that. What happened to gay pride?
Meanwhile that historic quitter kiffin (9-3) is enshrined. Remember how the quitter left us high & dry during a Super Bowl to go on to historic successes at Tennessee & USC. I wonder what honors those schools bestowed upon the quitter.
Sounds like Doug Williams is pushing to honor the racist Gruden in to the Black College Football Hall of Fame for decades of undying support. A little ironic, don’t you think?
