Chris Godwin’s Contract March Starts With A Bang

September 8th, 2024

Eight times Bucs stud receiver Chris Godwin was targeted today against Washington and he caught them all.

The TV cameras caught all kinds of smiles from the second-leading receiver in Bucs history. Godwin finished with 83 yards and a touchdown. His longest play was 24 yards and he was money on third down.

As Joe wrote all summer, Godwin came into training camp looking electric. He was moving faster than in past years and looking so sharp. That’s a reflection of Godwin’s consistent work ethic, but Godwin also is in a contract year and he wants a massive one.

Joe can’t blame the guy and Joe believes he’ll be paid by Tampa Bay if the team is good this season and Godwin produces.

That aside, Bucs fans got a great taste today of what this team can look like with two stud receivers in their primes and a confident and talented quarterback. Heck, the Bucs have won 7 of 9 games dating back to last season.

He played extremely well today, even blocking the edge for our RBs (including screens) good job – keep it up godwin, you’ll get paid!

Consummate Pro. Our top four are as good as any in the league. They need to be because our defense is now crippled by injuries.

Great to see Godwin have an awesome game.
    Definitely looks explosive again!!

What nobody is talking about is Jalen McMillan.
Baker missed him TWICE in the first quarter and one was a walkin TD.

After that he ran a superb corner/post route and got facemasked & DPI of 30 yards.

Then he again runs amazing route and is wide-a$$ open for his TD.

    This kid looks GRRRRREAT!!!

How are defenses going to cover these guys when Bucs go to 3-wide package??

Total stud. Dynamic duo with Big Mike.

We need to move Kameron Johnson ahead of Trey Palmer. TPalmer continues to make bonehead penalties. He contributed to a lost last year while blocking then pulling on the defender’s jersey after we made a nice gain. Why can’t we get it right on pr. Palmer does not like pr. He’s another Jayden Darden. His first intent is to run outta bounds. Palmer has no heart. Did Vita Vea get injured. I saw him steamroll a lineman into Daniels. We need to start Bucky at rb, he hits the hole. RWhite hesitates too much. Also, we had too many missed tackles today. Braswell’s gotta wrap up. We can’t play that way against the lions next week.

They were Brady targets. Now Bakefields Targets.

Moving Chris back to slot was the right move, as expected. Great start of the season for him and everyone!

@Bucsfan1988 – I think one of those was on Jalen, ball hit his hands and he didn’t catch it. Would have been a walk in TD… or maybe that was in addition to the 2 throws that Baker missed? I was at the bar and a bit distracted.

  13. Conner50 Says:

Tampa better pay this man after the season is up, gotta have that Evans an Godwin dou
