Jon Gruden: “I’m Catchin’ The Falcon Fever”

Great education and fun. No nonsense but entertaining.
After a 5 1/2 minute breakdown of this coming Sunday’s Falcons-Steelers game, Jon Gruden (the first Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach ), explained that he, too, has a front row seat on the giant Falcons bandwagon.
Joe’s heart sank a notch.
Gruden is a huge Kirk Cousins fan (his brother coached him), and he thinks Atlanta could be in the NFC title game.
“I’m catchin’ the Falcon fever, baby. And I’m an ex-Buccaneer, I hate the Falcons my whole life,” Gruden said. “But all of a sudden, you know how things happen in life? Weird things happen. I’m becoming a Falcon fan, man, just don’t tell anybody.”
At least Gruden has a lot of questions about the Falcons’ defense, including whether newcomer stud pass rusher Matt Judon is in shape, can improve in this defense and and whether his injury issues are lingering. Joe will add that Grady Jarrett is coming off ACL (knee) surgery, and Gruden wonders whether he and Judon can realize their potential.
So did Gruden talk 2024 Bucs? Not yet, but the channel is very new.

Is there a vaccine for that yet?
I don’t care whether or not he gets reinstated into the Ring of Honor. If owned the team I may have tossed him out as well had he talked trash about me as he did about the Glazer’s.
I do hope Gruden wins any lawsuits against the NFL which screwed him badly. And I hope he can get back into coaching if he wants that.

Removing Chucky from the ring of honor was just petty and a bad look for the owners…. What he did off the field can never erase his success on the field….
The league did not take away the SB trophy from the Bucs nor did they blot out their SB season!
Second chances or come backs are honorable..

Bucsfansince1996, Gruden lost his case against the NFL. Nevada Supreme Court ruled he has to go through arbitration with the NFL.
The problem is that NFL arbitration is run by Roger Goodell. So there is no way Gruden could win a private arbitration. This amounts to unfair and unequal bargaining power. Nevada Supreme Court made a bad decision.

What a surprise! Chucky starts a new channel and immediately jumps aboard the dirty bird train. What does a new channel lack and need ? The answer is views or clicks or whatever. It’s the old “two birds one stone” theory. He pokes a stick into the Glazer’s eyes, creates the controversy that prompts views, and succumbs to the big media politically correct view.
The Glazer’s had every right to eject him and I support their decision.
Todd Bowles may not have a SB win as head coach (yet) but he does have something Chucky never had or will have and that is class, dignity and character.
Those who seek revenge must dig two graves.

@Buc4evr, thank you, I hadn’t seen that news I’m sorry to hear that about the lawsuit. That arrangement certainly didn’t give him a chance to obtain real justice.

I think everyone that reads this site would absolutely stand for the right to defend the honor of themselves and their family. When Chucky’s emails became public the Glazer family defended their family honor, period. Chucky’s vindictive and crass nature was the root cause of his troubles. He soiled his own bed and seeks blame elsewhere.

Damn, the Falcons will make another talking head look like a fool. Did this team improve with cousins? Maybe. Receiving corps are as average a team as could be, not mention no where near the talent he ever had in Minnesota. The tight end reminds me of Chuckwagon or what ever his name was that was supposedly a “ specimen.” The rest of the team is getting older and they brought in older players on defense. Let’s be real, Simmons would have been gone a long time ago if he had anything left in the tank. So unless they can run for 300 yards a game, same old Falcons. 7-10 with that light arse schedule they have.

Gruden got a raw deal from the Bucs and the NFL. I’m still sore about it. The Glazers should have embraced Gruden. They are wrong for having his name taken down from our Ring Of Honor. I hope one day it is reversed. Gruden does not really like the Falcons. But he too is still a little vengeful about what happened to him. I always loved the guys motivation for Football.

The Glazer’s DID embrace Chucky. They gave up 2 1st round and 2 2nd round picks and $8mil. When team performance fell off they fired the head coach. It happens frequently in the NFL. Chucky may run the fired football coaches assn. but how many of the other fired head coaches belong and pay dues ? Did Belechick jump at a chance to join ? Should Belechick publically express resentment ? Should Belechick start bad mouthing Kraft behind the scenes ? Should all of Belechick’s success have guaranteed him a permanent position ?

One of the members of my fantasy league had Gruden do a season preview of our league. I don’t know how much he paid, but it was so funny. Haven’t seen his youtube show yet, but I’m looking forward to. Wish Gru the best, but I can see why they took him out of the ROH.

I’m not a Gruden fan in general, but his new YouTube channel is really really good, very entertaining. People should check it out, in particular when he shows you around his fired coaches office. Amazing all the stuff he has laying around, including a room dedicated to the Bucs, all his old game scripts, etc.

It’ll never happen while The Glazers own the Bucs. But Jon Gruden cannot be erased from Bucs history ever. He helped guide the to 2003 SB man!! He coached the team for 7 seasons. His dad was a Bucs assistant coach under John Mckay. Being put in Ring of Honor should be about accomplishments has a coach, player, contributor. Not because ownership likes you as a person. Jon Gruden made the Glazers alot of money in the 2000s. And they fired him. He held grudges about that for years. Let it all Go. Anyway, I have a better chance of winning the powerball than Jon Gruden’s name being approved by the Glazers to be put back on stadium.

Let’s not forget that when Chucky arrived he was welcomed by a defense loaded with hall of famers and Monte Kiffin remained on staff.
Let’s not forget that the SB win was over Chucky’s previous team with which he was intimately familiar. Bill Callahan was Chucky’s OC and failed to make significant changes when he became head coach. In my view and that of many others the Super Bowl win was handed to Chucky.
The final nail for Chucky was the 4 consecutive December losses.

It’s a new channel. Gruden already owns Bucs fans. He wants to attract fans beyond just Raiders and Bucs, so of course he’s going to say he has falcon fever. Also, Cousins attended his QB camp, so there’s a loyalty factor.
His show was insightful though. It’s hard to get enough “inside the mind” perspective from champion coaches and QBs.

I wish Joe would stop writing articles about the stupid A– Falcons… I hate anything Falcons related. Division games are all ways tough no matter if one team has not won a single game when the teams meet. If kirt cousins is so great then why is he on his 3rd team in the NFL. Wait isn’t that the same thing people said about Baker Mayfield. Why yes it is. Probably won’t happen but I hope the Falcons LOOSE ever damn game. I hate the stupid A– Falcons.
