Injury News Concerning

September 4th, 2024

Injury report.

So the very first injury report of the season came out this afternoon and Joe’s pulse rate spiked while seeing this name.

Bucs kicker Chase McLaughlin, who actually missed two kicks in preseason, did not practice today because he is sick and has an abdomen injury.

That’s a bad injury for a kicker to have an abdominal injury. It limits them on their follow-through and possibly more.

If the Bucs want to be a running team, that invariably means more drives will stall. And that raises the importance of a field goal kicker.

This is something Joe will monitor closely.

Is he sick and has an abdomen injury, or does he have a stomach flu?

  2. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    @Pink, good question!

  3. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Sounds like the flu. Just got over it myself. I’m sure he’ll be doctored up and ready to roll.

  4. SteelStudBuc Says:

Hurt his tummy puking from a hangover

  5. heyjude Says:

Oh no! Abdominal injury sounds serious.

  6. Fernando Says:

Nothing here drama cause we have nothing to write about

  7. PowerOfPewter Says:

Is that kicker who was in camp still available? He seemed pretty good, and if there’s any question about McLaughlin’s availability it might make sense to IR him for 4 weeks, which preserves the roster spot.

  8. Rod Munch Says:

Kickers are like running backs, a dime a dozen.

If he can’t go, they’ll just sign someone who should come in and be OK – so long as they get someone who has done it before. No reason to get some rookie with a huge leg when it’s for a week or two, just get some veteran who has been here before, which I’m sure Licht will do if needed.

  9. Cobraboy Says:

The ‘Skins have some real front office drama. James O’Keefe just dropped a video of their Social Media Veep trashing players, Goodell, and the team.

  10. TampabayDJ Says:

Loos like our Bucs need to throw the ball to Evans and Godwin 35 times and score 35 points. Then we won’t have to worry about a field goal

  11. A Bucs Fan Says:

Or the Bucs could just sit their kicker and go for all 4th downs on the commanders side of the field and 2 point conversions. That would be fun.

  12. Crickett Baker Says:

I can’t believe you all seem to think it is OK to lose a good kicker! I can tell who hasn’t been a fan for a long time.

  13. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

That is pretty serious. The other thing is he just did what Dean did last year, sign a new contract. Yeah there are kickers that score more points than some guys that catch 13 touchdowns in a season so, that’s really not a laughing matter. How many times did that one Patriots kicker win a Superbowl AV.was the name. Chase has been good for us. Every player that suits up is key every week funny people. Let’s Go Bucs!!!!

  14. Dave Pear Says:

Is Succup working? At least he can make the shorties.

  15. Chris l Says:

Running doesn’t mean drives stalll. Not running effectively causes third and long which stalls drives. Ravens run a lot along with 49ers but their drives stall eh

  16. Joe Says:

Is he sick and has an abdomen injury, or does he have a stomach flu?

Here are the exact words and tense the Bucs used for McLaughlin on the injury report.

    “Abdomen/illness.”

Feel free to decipher that however you wish. Joe took that as he has an abdomen injury and he’s sick.

  17. jbceedeez@gmail.com Says:

Todd Bowles had a press conference today!!! No mention of any
sort of this, also Baker Mayfield spoke today!!! I emphasized today!!
because of drama like this…chill guys!

  18. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

    He’ll be fine.

  19. garro Says:

I only watched him kick against Miami and although he made the kick …he looked…awkward on it.

Finding out he is on the injury report reminded me of it. Just makes me wonder.

    Go Bucs!

I think it just means he had Taco Bell last night, which leads to illness in the abdomen.

Baker Boi – the Bucs have traditionally had good kickers, it’s only in recent years that hasn’t been the case. So save me the lesson in Bucs history.

Also, I was saying for a week or two it’s not big deal if you need to go to a backup kicker. Just don’t ask some guy off the street to go kick a 57-yard game winner in a thunderstorm.

  22. Esteban85 Says:

Being a running team means more drives will stall? How’s that?
I bet I know which Joe wrote this one.

  23. Bucs since 76 Says:

If looks like Chase can’t go the Bucs will pick up a kicker and put him on the practice squad so he can be added on game day. I they don’t pick up a kicker then they feel his good to go.

  24. Mr. Editor Says:

Another “mysterious” injury with the Bucs. We’ll never get a straight answer out of the front office regarding injured players. Is it gamesmanship, ignorance, or that they just don’t care to report accurately?

  25. Permanently Moderated Says:

If running backs are a dime a dozen, Munch, then why have the Bucs had such a hard time finding a decent one?

  26. BucU Says:

The ‘Skins have some real front office drama. James O’Keefe just dropped a video of their Social Media Veep trashing players, Goodell, and the team.

It’s a very disruptive situation up there in DC right now. Excellent timing!

  27. JD Still Says:

Last year our offense averaged scoring just one point more than our defense allowed and when you think of all the 50 plus yard field goals Chase had to make , yes, it’s kind of a big deal if he can’t go.

  28. orlbucfan Says:

Let Chase get well. It’s Camarda I hope is back to regular season form, He wasn’t kicking his usual monsters in preseason. I hate the new kickoff format! Where do the owners dredge this dreck from? Their butts?
