Gameday Tampa Bay
September 12th, 2010Week 1
Browns at Bucs
Kickoff: 1 p.m.
TV: Blacked out locally. Those outside the Tampa and Orlando TV markets with NFL Sunday Ticket can view the game on DirecTV Channel 704.
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (in Tampa WFUS-FM, 103.5 and WDAE-AM, 620); Sirius Channel 158.
Weather: Fans going to the game should prepare to be roasted. Per AccuWeather.com, kickoff will be under sunny skies and 94 degrees which will remain steady through most of the game but should cool off in the fourth quarter to 91. There will be limited if any breeze.
Odds: Per Bodog.com, Bucs -3.
Outlook: Hard to predict this game because both teams have major question marks if not holes in their respective roster. But now is time for the hype to end. Will Mike Williams be as impressive as he was in preseason? Will Earnest Graham snap out of a funk that dates back to when Chucky was coach? Will Cadillac Williams have a second successive healthy season? Will Josh Freeman be regular season-ready despite having just eight pass attempts in preseason? Can rookie defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Brian Price play like veterans? Can Kellen Winslow stay healthy despite a problematic knee? Those questions may be answered today.
The Bucs defense will have to play well. It’s not like the Browns are the Saints. A win can go a long way into seeing that the Bucs have a decent season.
Fun facts: Jake Delhomme is 9-2 in his career as a starter against the Buccaneers. … Browns WR-KR Joshua Cribbs recorded 2,510 combined yards last season, the fifth-most all-time.

Darn those Cleveland cheerleaders sure are dogs!
September 12th, 2010 at 10:46 am
That one on the right, what the hell is that, is it even a dog?
September 12th, 2010 at 10:52 am
That’s what happens when those NFL cheerleaders get old and have a bad plastic surgery job done…then they call 10866-LAW-FRAN.

Hey Bucs fans – anyone out there have any Bucs on their Fantasy Football Rosters?
In my 6 leagues I only managed to get Williams once, Caddy twice and Huggins once.
Anyone else?
PS – Caddy’s starting as is Williams, I’m a glutton for punishment

HEY, JOE

September 12th, 2010 at 11:41 am

@MVP
They are going to Selmans with NFL ticket, buddy, they’ll see the game there.
Fun facts: Jake is no longer on the same team as when he beat the Bucs before. His streak ends today.

@Mr. Lucky
I have the Bucs defense starting today, and I have Stroughter starting.
I forgot my draft on the day it happened and so ended up with some rough picks (like Sidney Rice…grrrr).
My QBs are:
Matt Shraub & Matt Cassel
Bucs are my defense today, because my other defense is the Saints and I knew that would be a low scoring game against the Vikes. Glad I made that call at least, lol.
I haven’t played fantasy in years, so I’m not expecting much.
My starters today are:
Matt Shraub (QB)
Greg Jennings (WR)
Mike Wallace (WR)
Sammie Stroughter (WR)
Ryan Grant (RB)
DeAngelo Williams (RB)
Todd Heap (TE)
Nate Keading (K)
Tampa Bay (Def)
Like I said…rough picks in a couple areas and there was no one on waivers.

Inactives this week are:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB Rudy Carpenter (emergency)
RB LeGarrette Blount
RB Kregg Lumpkin
C Ted Larsen
DE Michael Bennett
* WR Maurice Stovall
WR Preston Parker
DE Erik Lorig
Cleveland Browns
QB Colt McCoy (emergency)
WR Carlton Mitchell
DB Nick Sorensen
LB D’Qwell Jackson
OL Stevel Vallos
OL Shawn Lauvao
TE Alex Smith
LB David Bowens
* On Stovall, is he injured at all? That’s a surprising inactive otherwise…wondering if this means he’ll be cut this week for Talib to come back…

What I don’t get is how people are willing to drive find a restaurant or a sports bar to go watch their favorite NFL team play, but they don’t realize that going to the game is just as cheap as eating out!! Going to Chili’s is currently more expensive then going to a Bucs game.
35 Dollars for a game?? That’s reasonable.
September 12th, 2010 at 12:21 pm
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gameday is here!
September 12th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
Patrick – You can go to Chili’s with someone, eat, drink, watch the game on TV in the air conditioning for less than going to RayJay?
I DON’T THINK SO….
tickets in the heat = $35×2 = $70
Parking for Chili’s = 0, Parking for the Glazers = $20
Beer at Chili’s = $3 (maybe) beer at RayJay = $8
Burger at chili’s = $6 (maybe) burger at RayJay = $10
Fries at Chili’s = 0 (comes with burger) at RayJay = $5
So at Chili’s it costs $20 for two people
At RayJay it costs $136 for two people
Sorry but the Greedy NFL owners charge WAY too much for an NFL game. Tickets to the Tuskers are only $10. Tickets to the Storm are only $15 and both of those venues have food at 1/2 the cost of RayJay.
It’s called supply and demand. I demand the Glazers do a Wal-Mart and have a price rollback….
September 12th, 2010 at 12:33 pm
If I had the money for a luxury box (which is what I actually would need given my condition) than I would be there every game.
Mr Lucky got it right on the expenses. It’s like going to universal 8 times per year…too pricey.
September 12th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
@Mr. Lucky
I got Caddy starting in two of my leagues, and Mike Williams sitting the bench till he proves he’s a game breaker. Couldn’t get Winslow in any of my leagues, but I got Freeman in my keeper league
September 12th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
@Michigan – I hope Williams lights it up today. On my one team I actually put in Huggins! I forgot that Winslow is on one of my teams as well. I’ve actually got Freeman on the bench in one league – picked him up for the minimum of $1
September 12th, 2010 at 12:50 pm
$35 a ticket? Only if you got them in season ticket packages. $40 other wise so you need to add $10.
Of course you might be able to do a bit better with scalpers on the ticket prices so it might be a wash.
And factor in the cost of SPF 50 that these $40 seats are suntan specials, top of the stadium, east side, where the sun always shines.
September 12th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
I cant be the only one that is confused with bennet being inactive right?

DON’T BE DUMB! — Joe
September 12th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Don’t worry if your not watching the game. I am and I am appauled at how horrendous our team is looking. I have been an avid supporter of a “better bucs” team this year. But Its ridiculous how this team decides to revert to this type of play now lol. I was encouraged by the preseason first team play
September 12th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
This looks like a worse team already. What’s up Free?? Wake up dag it!!
September 12th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
Every third down attempt Is short!!! Freeman are u that bad??? Have u been saving ur worst for now that you can even grasp the concept of trying to get the first down??
