Pat Kirwan Picks Bucs Over Falcons

September 3rd, 2024

Count the voice of SiriusXM NFL Radio among the painfully slow-growing ranks of national media types picking the Bucs to win the NFC South for the fourth straight season.

Joe is referring to Todd Bowles’ friend Pat Kirwan, the former Bucs scout, Jets linebackers coach and Jets personnel chief.

And no, Kirwan isn’t picking the Bucs because of a relationship with Bowles. He been tight with Falcons head coach Raheem Morris (and probably still is). Raheem went to Hofstra University where Kirwan coached.

Kirwan doesn’t see the Bucs taking a step backward and even thinks the Falcons are a sure Wild Card team behind Tampa Bay. He cited Baker Mayfield finding stablity and a great fit, in addition to being a quality quarterback that will “be effective” in Tampa for a second consecutive season.

Of course, Kirwan noted his strong faith in Bowles.

Joe already picked the Bucs to repeat as division champs on The Ira Kaufman Podcast.

And man, what an accomplishment it would be.

This is no time for a history lesson, but Joe did the research last season. The list of teams that won a Super Bowl and followed it up with four consecutive division titles is extremely short.

Appreciate this team, Bucs fans! At least until it it deserves your daggers.

There’s another reason analysts are picking the Falcons over the Bucs… eventually they will get it right. Hopefully not this year though.

I think Baker hasnt hit his ceiling yet. The stability part is crucial. Lets bake this season

I respect Kirwan more than anyone else in the business. His show with Jim Miller is excellent (except for when the doofuses call in which is too frequent).

    LFG

    We got this!
    LFG!!!

Many hopes that most sports media will be shown for the charlatans that they are. CBS has a moron picking the Saints to be basement dwellers this year. He might be right but he essentially threw the Bucs and Panthers in with the Saints. I don’t even know how you get there. What a buffoon.
Kirwan is legit and has my respect.
Here’s to Baker forcing the media to reassess how they were so wrong about him as a QB. Dude is still in his twenties. Hopefully last year was year one for remaking himself.
Run Mickey run. Only a few days longer to wait….

Sports reporters can say any nonsense. Why not? There’s no accountability.
    At. All.
    Heres an Idea.

Post a list of all the reporters dissing the Bucs.
List their name, prediction, a THEIR EMAIL/FACEBOOK/ etc. addresses

Then, at the end of the season. Repost it.
Meybe even post one or two of their comments.

I’d LOVE to discuss some of these simpletons predictions at seasons end.
Ask them what were they thinking?

Only then will these idiots stop brown nosing the big city teams- and do actual reporting.
If I had a few hundred people, telling me I was a dumba** all Summer- I’d spent a little time on my predictions!

Come on, Joe! Let’s call these guys out for their disrespect! lol
Never happen- but that would work

To be completely honest, it’s all guess work at this point anyway.

The talking heads are making predictions that are not grounded in fact…yet. That’s what they are paid to do.

We don’t know for sure either…but our predictions are based hopes, prayers and dreams.

And yes…a little more than that.

    Regardless, Go Bucs!

    It’s not just sports reporters.

To your point Joe , It is because JL has the right people managing the salary cap and developeing and recruiting quality players and then keeping them.

The next step is trading a player when you have the depth before they become a free agent …. I think we have 1 or 2 canidates for that…

    Enough with Atlanta.

    WE PLAY WASHINGTON …
65 sacks last year. Worst in the league.
1 new OL. 1 running QB. 1 new HC.

Dan Quinn has 50% win-loss record against Tampa as a HC and DC.
Our defense should feast in this game.

  14. JimBobBuc Says:

Kirwan does his research and has good takes.

Why the pic of Mauch, Joe? Mauch has a lot of stepping up to do this year after a tough rookie year.

  15. garro Says:

Kirwan is one of the very few left who does his homework and does not just spew a bunch of click bait BS.

Add to that the fact that he is rarely wrong. He and Jim Miller are throwbacks to when people in the business had some integrity.

    Go Bucs
