NFL.com: No Playoffs For You, Bucs!

August 30th, 2024

Motivation.

This is getting as predictable as the Four-Letter leading off a highlights package with Yankees-Red Sox.

Joe would really like to know where all of these Kirk Cousins cheerleaders have been the past three or four years. All Joe ever saw from these self-inflated NFL sophists who work in #NFLMedia and traffic on social media was claims that Cousins was a borderline joke, a guy who could never win a prime time game, forget a playoff game.

Counds goes to Atlanta with decent talent on offense (Bijon Robinson is likely their best player) and all of a sudden the same people who used to take constant shots at Cousins and float weirdo memes about him now act like he’s the next Tom Brady — coming to the NFC South to save those redneck Confederates and lead them to the Super Bowl.

Joe has never seen a quarterback have such a career image transformation virtually overnight, despite suffering a major leg injury to end his 2023 season. And the last thing a 36-year-old quarterback, who will play home games on turf, needs is to lose his legs.

So yeah, Joe is out here throwing rocks at the Cousins Bandwagon.

Joe got on this rant again reading NFL.com’s piece showing a majority of NFL experts working there have the Dixie Chicks winning the NFC South.

The Bucs? Well, they got some support. Second place, but not enough for a wild card berth

Baker Mayfield has twice as many playoff wins as Cousins and beat Cousins on the road in his first Bucs start last year, said he’s motivated by disrespect. Joe hopes someone prints out and frames this here post from Joe and hangs it in his locker.

  1. Dave Pear Says:

Bucs head coach. Everyone knows who he is and how he manages a game and schemes a defense.

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

Enough with the crystal ball nonsense. Who cares what is predicted by whoever. Bucs should be a very competitive and good football team but you don’t know until the games are played. So much crying on cornflakes about what other people think. It has become a weird Joe complex that I simply fail to understand.
Bucs should be really good this season. Stop crying.

  3. Dirk Disco Says:

I think the NFL talking heads are picking the Atlanta Falcons based off of the Bucs brutal schedule. Not because Cousins is going to pull a Tom Brady. Atlanta is probably the 2nd best team in the division.

Bucs are a better team this year than last year so how much better is the question.

  4. SB Says:

Awesome!! This is one of the yrs that I can actually laugh at the lazy predictions by the ‘experts’.
I have a weird feeling we are better than last yr.

  5. MadMax Says:

Word salad by this nonsense…just like scamala!

  6. Escobar Says:

Idk Drake London will be a threat for sure

  7. heyjude Says:

Great post, Joe! Fully agree. They act like Kirk is the 2nd coming of Brady. He isn’t. They should really be asking why the Falcons had a 2nd thought and drafted Penix. I wonder if there is an over/under of when Penix may start this season. But just like one of your other posts, the media will never say they were wrong.

  8. Permanently Moderated Says:

The best way to stop the nonsense is for the Bucs to run roughshod over the NFC South. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t.

  9. Jp1979 Says:

Everyone is acting like Kirk the jerk was on a crappy team and had no weapons…. He couldn’t win his division when he had the best wr and a top run game. I can’t wait to watch the bucs curb stomp the Dixie chicks.

  10. Bucsfan Says:

Go Bucs and Max it will be Madam President very soon…………

  11. Farmer Says:

They were wrong last year about us being at the bottom of the NFC South and they’ll be wrong this year too. What a surprise!

  12. Beeej Says:

They gotta play Philly, KC and Dallas, their schedule isn’t totally cupcakes

  13. JD Still Says:

One more week and all the predictions , guessing , and prognostications will be long forgotten and the only thing that will matter is performance when the rubber meets the road.

  14. RustyRhinos Says:

Wow MadMax, Have you not heard the “word salad out of the ExPrez Daily for years now? Now imagine if it was your vote, that the EXPrez and his cronies tried to “steal” like in GA, AZ, MI, and WI. It was MINE that was attempted to be stolen or is “Fraudulent Alternative Electorial College Voters and their Votes” just too much wordsalad to understand?

MadMax, I Have been a fan of your posts here on JBF for a few years of good and great seasons and many unfortunate bad seasons, and still will be MadMax.

I would have thought of you as a factual belief person. But I guess you are okay with putting others into a yoke with your above “scam” display. What happens when it becomes one of your own in that yoke or your own neck?

    VOTE!!!! I did and do.

    {Kicking my soapbox down the road}

    Keep On Keeping On!!!

Keep telling our QB with a chip on his shoulder as big as the Tampa Stadium. Give him just a little bit more “motivation” to show you what he is made of. He will. I am ready for the Thursday night’s 2nd game against the ATL, in ATL. Sitting upper deck behind the goalposts row 9. Show Me Baker!!!

Atlanta has a good team, better than us? You will have to show me! To quote “The Man” “No matter where you go or who ya know or what you see, there is only one Champion! And to be that Man you have to Beat that Man” So for three seasons Running The Buccaneers are and have been and forever will be three-time consecutive NFC SOUTH CHAMPIONS!!!! Looking to make it four-time CHAMPIONS!

    GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!

  15. Permanently Moderated Says:

I’m old enough to remember when this site was about Bucs football. Oh, wait.

  16. Joe Says:

I’m old enough to remember when this site was about Bucs football.

Analysts predicting the Bucs not to make the playoffs is not about the Bucs? Odd.

  17. garro Says:

Roger’s boys have kicked it into over drive Joe. Sad really….Although it makes me appreciate the Joes even more.

    Go Bucs!

  18. Joe Says:

Although it makes me appreciate the Joes even more.

    Thank you!

  19. stpetebucfan Says:

    Dave Pear

I always read your posts and normally respect them greatly. Hyperbole and lack of attribution though are not your friends.

    “Everyone knows who he is”

That is simply untrue. There are plenty in the league who respect Bowles and SOME fans even admire him. You are free to disagree with them. We are free to respect your OPINION or that of say a professional like Bruce Arians.

“I think fantastic, the way he weathered through the storms this year and kept that team together,” Arians said of the job Bowles has done.

IMHO the verdict is still out on Bowles. He was handed a sh!t sandwich!
He inherited a team strapped by the SB win salary cap, the stars were gone…the biggest of them Brady toyed with the Bucs his final year exploring other NFL options (hindsight is 20/20 but the Bucs should have let him walk).
His maritial problems affected the Bucs season as well.

There was the rancor about Leftwich who Bowles had to keep for that first year.

Bowles FINALLY has the weapons and his staff in place. Before we pronounce him as sucko perhaps we should let it play out.

  20. adam from ny Says:

somehow they’ve gotta go 5-5 in the first 10…

then heat up to win 5 of the last 7…

ultimately going 10-7 for the divisional win

  21. MadMax Says:

    Lol, all good.

  22. Dave Pear Says:

Many combine Todd and Baker into the basket of “Loser.” Hence the disrespect post Brady.

I’m cheering for both – but that’s the explanation for why so few believe in the Bucs.

Bring on the Commanglers. Score an opening drive TD. Force them to punt on their opening drive. Win.

    LFG

  23. Fan of the South Says:

You can argue the ‘Who Wins the NFC South’ all you want but if the Bucs miss the Playoffs it will be because of other teams and not the Falcons.
Sure the Bucs might win a game or two against them but it is the other teams running for the top 7 that will determine the Bucs fate.

Seahawks, Rams, 49er’s and somewhat the Cardinals because they are all on the schedule.

Eagles and Cowboys but don’t overlook week 1 as that could make a difference should Bucs drop that one.

Lions, Packers, and Bears although Bucs only play one from the North all teams in that Division are have at least an equal shot at a Wild Card.

  24. Adam's Angry Says:

I saw some comments about the Bucs strength of schedule. I saw a Facebook post the other day that said the Bucs have the 5th easiest schedule in the league this year.

    1) Cousins is washed coming off Achillies surgery. And let’s be honest: Raheem is the head coach over there and Madden AI has better instincts… enough said.

    2) Dave Canales is HC in Carolina with a bad team and an unproved QB.

    3) The Saints are still the Saints. But their roster is a wreck.

The Bucs will go 5-1 in the South and win it AGAIN (they’ll split with the Saints).

  25. Saskbucs Says:

I have such high hopes for the season, and once again want to preface what I am about to say with, the players love Bowles and show up for him… but I always worry about what Dave Pear lead off with, his game management and soft scheme at poor times could ruin us.

  26. orlbucfan Says:

Well, will someone kindly do a bit of research and tell this Bucs fan of 45 years: WHEN did the team actually have a cupcake schedule??? I’ve had to read that crap practically every year before the season starts. Yeah, I know, it’s clickbait. The Bucs have a good team and organization-finally. So does Atlanta. The other two division teams? We’ll see.

  27. Herbiebuc Says:

I’m confused by the Kirk cousin narrative he played with Justin Jefferson he also played with Davin cook what makes the Atlanta falcons any different? They are a far worse team than the Vikings ! We thinking too much about Atl and not enough about the saints that’s who the division will run through

  28. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

We’ll buy em a drink at the end of the season. Till then it’s strictly business. And by the way tell them all to take a long walk on a short pier. Thanks..

  29. Fred McNeil Says:

The league simply doesn’t pay much attention to the BUCS. Hopefully that changes this year. After the bye it’s almost all clear sailing except for the Cowboys. Replace Jerry’s little blue pills with Red Hots and see what happens. I gotta goooooee, Cowboys!!!!!!
