Bucs On NFL Sunday Ticket Minus Tampa, Orlando
September 10th, 2010Joe has received a mountain of e-mails from confused readers over the availability of the Bucs this Sunday on the glorious NFL Sunday Ticket, the greatest invention man has concocted since the bottle opener.
Simply put, if you have the NFL Sunday Ticket and you live outside the Tampa and Orlando TV markets, you will be able to watch the Bucs game against the Browns Sunday. In fact, it will be the only way you will be able to watch the Bucs game, short of going to the game or waiting until midnight to watch the tape-delayed video stream on NFL.com.
This past week, Joe’s good friends at WTSP-TV Channel 10 have featured the The Blackout Tour. For one Ch. 10 feature, award-winning reporter and Badger state native Preston Rudie contacted the programming department at CBS headquarters in New York, the network which will broadcast the game, and confirmed the only way to view the game in the state of Florida (outside the Tampa/Orlando TV markets) will be via NFL Sunday Ticket as all local CBS affiliates in Florida will be broadcasting the Miami-Buffalo game.
Just to reinforce Rudie’s information, Joe reached out to Greg Aiello, the NFL’s senior vice president of public relations, via Twitter. Aiello confirmed Rudie’s information, that the Bucs game will be available on NFL Sunday Ticket outside the Tampa/Orlando TV markets.
@JoeBucsFan Quick question Greg: Blackouts on NFL Sunday Ticket (GREAT service!) only applies to TV market of home team, correct?
@gregaiello That is correct.
So there you have it. Both the NFL and CBS programming have confirmed that the Bucs game will be available in the state of Florida, only to NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers, only outside of the Tampa/Orlando TV markets.
You know, like (ahem) Lee Roy Selmon’s in Fort Myers.
(Tip ‘o the hat to Preston Rudie and Greg Aiello.)

NFL Sunday Ticket has a free preview this Sunday 8/12 by the way.
September 10th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
9/12 that is.
September 10th, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Yup yup it’s only a 75 mile blackout radius. Thanks God for NFL Sunday ticket, the Internet, and restaurants that play NFL ST games haha
September 10th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
If you live within the blackout radius, you can watch the game live at the

Well last time I read about the affected Market, The excerpt defining the market was ‘parts of Orlando’…. and frankly that is meaningless.
What parts of Orlando? There are other parts of the Orlando Area much like the Tampa Bay Area… so where does tge radius end in “Parts of Orlando”… where is the cutoff? Daytona Beach? How about Cocoa Beach? Titusville? Seminole County? Apopka? Lake Mary?
How far on I-4 does one have to drive to get far enough out?
What literally defines this for the NFL Network?
September 10th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
I live in gainesville so please tell me i’m outside of the orlando market.
September 10th, 2010 at 2:49 pm
Just buy a damn ticket. You people are thinking about ways to watch the game without going to the game a lot harder than Gilligan was trying to get off the Island.

Hunter/ZeroExpectations:
Joe has to confess he knows nothing about the Orlando TV market coverage map. Joe believes Gainesville falls under that umbrella but cannot confirm.
Best way to find out is to see what CBS affiliate you have on your dish/cable provider. If that CBS affiliate is Tampa or Orlando, don’t get too excited about watching the game.
September 10th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
Update the orlando and tampa affiliates end in Ocala FL. If you live in gainesville or north of ocala Direct Tv will be airing the bucs game.
September 10th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
Hunter, what about Eastward?
How far on I-4 does one need to drive? All the way to Daytona? Deltona? Lake Mary?
Cocoa Beach? Titusville?
How far East does it stretch?

You can put your zip code in at the following website and it will tell you if the game is blacked out for you. Good luck and Go Bucs!

omg ppl just go online to watch the game…
September 10th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
Reasons not to watch game on line: small screen, crappy picture, fuzzy sound, that’s what happened to me when I watched some games on line.
September 10th, 2010 at 5:09 pm
what about games on the web? anyone know how that works?
September 10th, 2010 at 5:20 pm
Direct TV is awesome! 🙂
September 10th, 2010 at 5:39 pm
I just put a Bradenton Zipcode in the direct tv thingy Stogie8 posted and it says its not blacked out.

@RastaMon
Right on brother!!! I live a bit out of range, but still wont get to see them play either, (yeah I could get sunday ticket) but with $ being what it is what can you do? AZ is in the blackout zone as far as I see it as well.
Maybe not the 10/31 game but I will be at that game!!!!!! Yeah I feel bad to a point about the blackouts but…. @ over 2000 miles away it looks trivial. I am going to support my team taking a 3 hr r/t ride to watch them play this season!
I CAN”T WAIT!!!! GO BUCS!!!! Hit Cleveland in the mouth and let them know that your not afraid to bring IT every DOWN!!
September 10th, 2010 at 6:19 pm
Anywhere south of cedar key, gainesville, and st. augustine the game will be blacked out. I

Although I ve lived outside of my home state for 3 years now, this is the first time I ve seen Tampa/Orlando grouped into the same TV market. Did something change?
September 10th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
Right On RustyRhino!
I’ll be at the game cheering for you & BamBam and all the other BucFans on Location!!
Go Bucs!!! Stomp the Browns!!!
September 10th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Pruritis:
No. Bucs get to choose a secondary TV market to blackout per TV contracts. Bucs chose Orlando.
September 10th, 2010 at 9:49 pm
Guy at work told me he bought tickets… I laughed and told him he should have showed up at the game and get them for pennies in the dollar.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:06 am
I’ll be home watching the game on the Sunday Ticket package. Wish I could be there, but it’ll be a while before I can make it out again. Every week I’ll be sportin’ a Bucs jersey and watching in high def. Let the games begin!!! Go Bucs!!!

Why is it that the Bucs don’t do a fire sale on Wednesdays from noon to midnight – show up at the stadium, cash only, $25 / ticket, no seat choice – you just get what’s next? Would make cash on concessions, parking, merchandise….have a happy, active fan base & allow all of the sports pubs in the Tampa Bay area make some cash that day showing the game…..? Would be a great economy & team morale booster…
