Josh Freeman Not Practicing; Thumb Wrapped

With the Bucs four days from the season-opener and an injured Josh Freeman expecting to start despite a bum thumb on his throwing hand, Bucs fans can be expected to be a bit nervous.
But eyebrows were raised at One Buc Palace this afternoon when Freeman was spotted on the sidelines at practice with his thumb wrapped, so reports Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune via the TBO Bucs Twitter feed.
Josh Freeman is not practicing today. His thumb is wrapped up and he is watching QB drills.
Not good when one of the few winnable games on the Bucs’ schedule is the season opener against the bungling Browns.

Probably just more sore than he thought it would be. No sense if F’ing it up further if he’s not ready. A mobile JJ should be plenty good if High 5 isn’t ready vs the Browns.

Anwar is generating news again. They announced yesterday that his thumb was a “little sore” and that they were going to wrap it to play it safe.

Me too! Although I have to admit, JJ impressed me this preseason. He looked really poised and improved. But Freeman has the skills to achieve greatness! If he’s playing well, we can beat anyone. The more experience he gets, the sooner we become a serious contender

He’ll play this Sunday.
What worries me is he had almost no snaps in preseason, he’s not getting alot of practice this week, and his thumb will surely effect his accuracy. Maybe we’d be better off starting JJ and letting the Thumb heal another week.
JJ can win us games if Olsen calls the right game. If he tries to have JJ sit in the pocket and be Peyton Manning he will suck. If plays him like Vick and calls plays that use his skill set, I think we’d be fine. Just lean on the running game alot more and use rollouts, play action, and screens.
