Bucs Practice Under The Lights Tonight (And Under A Roof)
July 30th, 2024Ah, a welcome night practice for the Bucs this evening. Unfortunately, it’s not at the stadium like the team used to do back in the day.
So the Bucs will set up shop in the Glazer Shed. Under the lights. Indoors. Air conditioning. The timing of the practice is no accident, Todd Bowles explained.
Yesterday was the first day in pads and it was hot out there, brothers and sisters. So Bowles expects the team to be spent and he wants them to sleep in a little and practice in the air conditioning tonight.
“For us, the first day in pads, you know it’s going to be hot and they’re going to be a little drained,” Bowles said. “You want [them] to stay off their feet a little bit more and give them a little extra rest.
“You still come out and have a productive practice. The fact that it’s indoors and they’ve got a little more time to rest, it helps out a little bit with the body.”
Joe wouldn’t be shocked if Bucs stud Lavonte David has a vet day (night?) and doesn’t practice. Back in 2019, when Bucco Bruce Arians took over, he gave David days off when the Bucs practiced in the Glazer Shed. Arians said the turf bothered David’s knees. This was five years ago.
David is now 34. Knees don’t get better with age.
Bowles didn’t rule out a scrimmage between offense and defense tonight, which means live tackling. He said it depends how practice goes. If the team isn’t practicing sharply or seems drained, they may not scrimmage.

BEST BOWLES COACHING ATTRITUBE
Schiano and Lovie had the philosophy tough practices bread tough teams. Seemed like Evans always started the season with a hammy.
Bowles is health conscious. Last year he changed the practice format to 3 on and 1 off because most injuries occurred on day 4. That is amazing attention to detail. Last year the Bucs started the season nearly 100% healthy and didn’t have injuries for most of the season.
If the best ability is availability, a coach should do what’s necessary keep them healthy.

Sly teams that hit run the ball better. Just saying.

Smart move by Bowles!
Joe, I saw a bunch of guys catching punts last week:
Palmer
R-White
J-Mac
Bucky
Latreal Jones
Tanner Knue
J-White even got a couple tries!
Joe, any narrowing of the field yet?

I think it’s probably the most important thing is get your best players and overall team to start the season healthy.

Can you imagine if any of these modern players had to do 3-a-days where they weren’t wearing ridiculous stupid looking nerf helmets, and had to work out in a trailer … and even worse, coaches and other players would use mean words when talking to them – even yell at them and call them names questioning, instead of affirming, their sexuality? I think these modern cupcakes would last about 45 minutes before quitting.

Coach Bowles is showing us what a good coach he really is. Scrimmages tonight sound great. But if not, that is okay too. We all have noticed how many players have really concentrated on their health and bodies now. It all has to do with the coach, trainers, and others that are working out with them. Like many others have said on different posts, Coach Bowles has never lost the locker room. The players respect him and want to work harder. Go Bucs!

You know what they should do, is after practice, every player gets awarded an actual Lombardi trophy because they all gave it their best effort, and that’s what is really important.

Munch got wood while typing that.

Have to disagree with you about Lavonte and knees get weaker with age. LVD had best season since 2016 last year at 33 y/o is outstanding. This guy is a freak of nature and most underrated, should be HOF. Amazing person and player. My favorite Buc all-time🏴☠️
