Trey Palmer Offers A Delicious Morsel Into What Liam Coen Has Cooking
July 24th, 2024Any college football fans out there who are also Bucs fans reading this here site? If so, boy, does Trey Palmer have something for you today.
For those who do not know Palmer’s background, yes, he comes to the Bucs via Nebraska. Yes, he was (is?) a Cornhusker. But he didn’t always play football in the heart of the country. Palmer playd his first three years of college ball at LSU. His freshman year, Palmer was a return man and a backup receiver. This was 2019.
It also happened to be the same year LSU last won a national title. Joe Burrow was the Heisman Trophy winner while throwing to Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrace Marshall and, yeah, sometimes to Palmer.
It was an electric offense. Fun as hell to watch. And sickly explosive.
You can understand why Palmer didn’t catch a whole lot of passes that season. Can you say, “log jam?”
So Joe was chatting with Palmer after the Bucs’ first training camp practice today. Conversation was about Palmer’s good playoff game against the Eagles and how new Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen may use him and his crazy fast wheels.
Then Palmer dropped this on Joe when discussing Coen’s offense, with a beaming ear-to-ear smile. Joe noticed the smile and asked Palmer if Coen’s offense is fun for a receiver.
Palmer didn’t hold back.
“Yes sir, yes sir!” Palmer said. “[The offense] is familar to me. It’s like what I had in college. LSU.”
And yes, Bucs fans, Palmer meant the 2019 LSU offense.
This just makes Joe want to chug beers right now. Can this really be true? Could Coen’s offense be this diverse and fun?

Like Palmer a lot. He def. Brings skill n speed to the table

Palmer’s got the speed and he just needs to refine his craft. Better sync with Baker on routes, focus on the catch, and helping Bucky with some blocks.

Diverse and fun would be great. The last couple of years were anything but.

9 points against the worst team in the NFL can’t Abe happen again

TPalmer just need to learn how to hold on to the ball n not to fear contact. We haven’t had a player at wr who possess 4.3 forty or less speed, character, agility, is fearless regarding contact, has great hands, n a regular in the endzone since Joey Galloway. If Palmer wants to be the next Galloway type player, then he needs to maintain good character, improve his hands, embrace contact, catch the long passes, find the end zone. I remember last year during Palmer’s interviews he said he was taught in college, “see ball, catch ball”. I say Step it up TP!!

I am excited to see an aggressive offense which will help out the defense in a big way.

We are likely to see an uptick in turn over but that’s because the bucs gonna win the time of possession game a lot . Bucs are gonna shock the league this year . Bucs are top 3 team in NFC . I would not be surprised with 12-13 wins .

LFG!

As a massive Bucs and Husker fan, I can’t tell you how excited I will be to see Trey used the way he should be. As a Husker he broke all kinds of records and single-handedly beat Iowa, and Purdue. He is a beast and Bucs fans will be in for a real treat to truly see his speed used.

Our WR room looks loaded. With the revamped O-line, and added experience for Cody Mauch, I think we have a chance to be much improved, especially with White coming on big, and the addition of Bucky Irving. Can’t wait to see how it comes together. It looks like a tough schedule, though.

Logan Merrick – He would have had a nice year last year if Baker didn’t keep on missing him deep. Hopefully Baker is more consistent this year, if he is, the Palmer could put up some good numbers.

David why don’t you check where the Panther’s defense ranked you dullard

Delicious morsel?🙄

ME13
Godwin
Shepard
Palmer
McMillan
Jarrett ??
WRs look awesome.
New LG. New Center. Bulked up more seasoned RG & RT
Otton really came on strong
White & Bucky? We shall see
If they block better than last year, I don’t want to hear anymore about Baker taking a step back. I predict 4000+ again but 34 TDs

What a great tidbit to hear from Trey! Looking forward in seeing what Coen accomplishes. Sounds absolutely positive so far!

It’s funny but these days college offenses are often more innovative and diverse than pro offenses.
