Lavonte David Is No. 99 On Top-100 Players List; Baker Mayfield Gets A Top-20 Player Vote

In what feels like an effort to restore/revive faith in the annual NFL Network Top-100 Players series that kicked off today, the league released a couple of actual ballots to show fans how players voted for the honors.
And yes, it’s a players-only vote. Joe saw the two 2024 ballots on X (see below).
What intrigued Joe was Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield receiving top-20 votes on one of the two shared ballots. Players only vote for their 20 personal best players in the league.
Perhaps it was Tyreek Hill’s ballot?
For those wondering, players ranked Nos. 81 through 100 were revealed today and Lavonte David was bestowed the No. 99 overall slot while Tristan Wirfs checked in at No. 85.
For the 2021 survey, David ranked No. 43. At the close of this year’s video segment, a mic’d up Derek Carr told David following a game last season, “HOF, man, you’re the best.”
Wirfs’ current ranking is very impressive considering he was in his first season at left tackle. Wirfs checked in at No. 98 a year ago, but he was coming off a 2022 season in which he missed four games.

Baker at anywhere from 50-70 is about right for last year, next year he will be top 20 though, mark my words.

“ Lavonte Davis Is No. 99” was the title of this article meant to be ironic for David’s lack of respect. Or just a complete lack of respect on Joes part?

Mayfield’s top 20 vote was from the Viking DB he trucked in that first game last year.
