“Alarming” Disrespect

July 22nd, 2024

So this was fun. A noted analyst railed on national radio about how the Bucs are being improperly disrespected by the media … but he still picked the Falcons to win the division.

To make matters even worse, this same guy suggested the Falcons could take the NFC South with only nine victories.

Joe’s referring to Tampa native (Alonso High) and former eight-year NFL defensive end Leger Douzable, who played for Todd Bowles with the Jets. He’s a growing voice on CBS Sports and SiriusXM NFL Radio. So given his ties. Joe pays a little extra attention when Douzable talks Bucs.

“If you’re this Buccaneers team, you probably feel so disrespected that everybody’s just giving the division to the Falcons,” Douzable said on the great Channel 88 on Sirius last week.

“To me that makes it even kind of more alarming that nobody’s actually giving them a chance to win this division — because nobody gave them a chance last year. Me included, I’ll stand up and put my hand up. I gave the Bucs no chance last year to win the division and Baker Mayfield proved that he can be a franchise quarterback.”

All that negativity is fueling a raging fire at One Buc Palace, says Douzable. “I know Todd Bowles, like they’re feeding off that [disrespect],” he said.

Still, Douzable can’t get off the Falcons and Kirk Cousins. Joe, like Jay Gruden, can describe the Falcons in one word: overrated.

    Let them be…

    His name is “Douzable”?

IDK why but all I can see is Doozy (big) + Douch + Able. It’s like saying someone can be a really big douch.

“That writer really comes up with Douzable articles. Like the one he said the Atlanta Falcons beating the 3xNFCS Champs is a foregone conclusion. Totally Douzable”

LVD is apparently #99 on the top 100, so clearly these people’s opinions don’t mean much

We were 9-8, 1-1 in the playoffs, you get what you earn and Tampa has never been a media darling so why does that change now? Finish up camp, do work in the preseason, come out the gate punching our opponents in the mouth and the respect will follow.

I get it, really I do. Bucs fans see/know it too. The Bucs are not a sexy team. They dont have a roster that makes them legit Superbowl contenders (but they are division campion contenders) . They are underdogs with above average talent overall but only a few all worldly players.

The media understands that Baker is not a top 8 guy and probably wont ever be. If any of the top 8 qbs were on this team the Bucs would be a superbowl contender and this would not be a question in the minds of most across the NFL

The Falcons landed one of those (kind of I guess. Kirk Cousins. LOL)

Baker needs to stay healthy which was hard last year behind the Three Matadors, but if he does, 4500+ yards passing and 30 TDs is not at all unrealistic given Todd’s directive to his OC. And if he does get injured, look for Wolford to step up and prove that he gives the Bucs a better chance to win than a one armed, one legged Baker – unlike last year’s backup.

If opponents don’t respect the Bucs, the Bucs will catch them napping. By the time the Bucs get to 10 wins, the talking heads will have to put down their crack pipes. I’m not concerned about predictions by DoozBag or any other ‘pundit’. Bucs will settle it all on the field with another NFC South title and playoff berth.

Douzable and High. There’s a couple of names you won’t see on a highlight reel, or on a HOF ballot. Does anyone remember their career at all? One big play? Or where they went to College? I’m clueless as are they, only they’re also useless.

The offseason needs to end. These puff pieces are nauseating.

Yeah I thought Joe was actually being sarcastic with the name, Douchable? It fits. I think the Bucs are building a tough tenatious young team and Baker is the right QB for that. I would love to see the DB’s, defensive backs, not the other DB’s, blow up some receivers over the middle old school style. Take the flags but serve notice. That is the punch in the mouth you want to serve…..cold.
