NFL Folks Not On Rachaad White Bandwagon

We have entered the thick of List Season.
“List Season” is what Joe calls the post-Fourth of July desert of NFL information. And to keep the NFL content beast rolling, folks come up with lists of all sorts to drag fans past the finish line that is the opening of training camps.
Veterans report for Bucs training camp two weeks from today. We’re almost there, folks.
In the meantime, BSPN launched its annual series of Top-10 players at each position. Per Jeremy Fowler, the four-letter had “nearly 80” NFL suits, scouts and coaches select their top-10 players at each position.
Joe was not surprised that Bucs running back Rachaad White was not listed. What is Joe supposed to say about the No. 1 back on the league’s worst rushing attack for two straight years?
However, Joe is a huge fan of White the receiving back. He’s one of the best in the league catching the ball out of the backfield. And that’s no joke.
So Joe thought surely, because of this, someone in the NFL would think White deserved one vote on this list. As dangerous as White is as a receiving back, wouldn’t that make him about as valuable or maybe better than (insert your choice) as a No. 10 back in the league?
Apparently not.
Fowler listed the names of every running back that got at least one vote from nearly 80 ballots. White’s name is not found anywhere. Of the nearly 800 votes for top-10 running backs, not one was cast for White.
Yes, “this Joe” was surprised by this. Not that White isn’t revered as a runner. That didn’t surprise Joe at all. But in a passing league, a guy who is elite catching the ball out of the backfield didn’t get one single vote.

I know, I know…….he doesn’t run so good but he’s a great receiving back…..but let’s see what happens with a stronger interior Oline and a different scheme and Bucky crawling up his a$$.

No one likes our RB, QB, or our OL.
They probably have little faith in our water boys and our cheerleaders have stupid uniforms.

I guarantee Barton will change this offense.
He is literally a general.
He will thrive at Center.
The battle for LG will be interesting.

I like it…. if these guys have any pride at all they will come into the season ready to kick butt. This team is good enough, no excuses (except if key players take on season ending injuries)

White will have 1500+ total yards by season’s end….. again….
Bucky will add another 600-700 total yards….
Bucs will average 4.0 or better yards per run.

Brett Kollman seems to believe it was the IOL that doomed Rachaad as a runner last season. He claimed the LG and Center play was atrocious.

Had Canales showed the slightest amount of creativity and called a B Gap, Draw, End Route, RPO (instead of the most predictable A Gap run) on just a handful of first downs, White would be in the conversation of most versatile offensive threat in the league. His stats would be on par with Caff. He likely would have gone to the Pro Bowl. When you have a garbage OC you get garbage results.
White is primed to have a great year.

Providing the best competition possible in camp and preseason is always a recipe for improvement in a particular position group , and with that being said, Bucs need way more quality competition at RB. Signing Ronald Jones to a league minimum prove it deal would be a huge step in increasing the competition level at RB.

Hainsey Will be an excellent backup at a couple of positions. Why on Earth would he be cut? Now, he may not be resigned next year…. But I think it’s a guarantee he’s on the roster this year.

He literally is probably the worst at the Line of scrimmage runner I’ve ever seen in a Bucs uniform. He’s a good bass catcher he’s decent in the open field, but within a yard or two with the line of scrimmage, he is beyond awful.

Steven007: The Bucs talk all the time about how they love “versatile” O-Linemen. I’m not saying Hainsey will or won’t make the Bucs roster, but it’ll probably come down to Hainsey being able to also play serviceably at Guard, or if a guy like Elijah Klein shows that he can also play Center. We’ll see how those battles shake out in the coming months.

Hainsey is a valuable cheap back up. He’ll be great on the sideline with Barton, need his vet leadership from the bench. Next year, doubt if he gets resigned. Barton is just what our Oline needed. He’ll get the run game going.

Maybe that will become a new drafted position Joe.
RB receiver . In the meantime all the teams are looking for real running backs first and catching makes them that much better. First they have to friggin run the ball .

Why are some of you talking about the run game like its a 1-man operation? As if the 5-6 men who line up in front of the QB aren’t a major factor in the success/failure of the run game?
Yes Rachaad, run the ball even if that NT or ILB is plugging the gap your OLmen are supposed to opening up on a given play call it’s easy being an NFL RB anybody could run behind the Bucs’ 2023 OL….lol

Irwin will be the Bucs leading rusher this season while White will be used more creatively to get him the ball in space. The biggest issue with White as a runner is he doesn’t have first step quickness to squeeze through holes and has that hesitation move that he can’t accelerate fast enough to burst through the front seven.
He has great hands and runs great routes. When he can catch it with a little space, that hesitation move works in a one-on-one situation and he gets those YAC’s. He is a weapon in passing game, especially in the red zone but Irwin clearly has more skills as a traditional running back and will provide the Bucs with an upgrade running behind blockers.

Maybe Hainsey comes in as a sixth OL, at the TE position. I wonder if he can catch? For special packages obviously. Redzone.
Yes I know tackles are normally used there but Hainsey is quicker than he is strong. He sucks at interior blocking but we’ve seen him pancake dudes in the open field.
In any event, no way he gets cut. Not a chance.

By and large, coaches should know by now, before training camp begins, whom is penciled in as first team in each position. Nothing written in stone but competition is for the second stringers. I think the closer the team resembles this lost at the start of the season, the better the coaching staff you have.

When every Post by the Big Cheese on the most Pro Bucs website calls him a Receiver what are others to think? No wonder he was looked over.
Then again when a player has the 3rd most carries for the 14th most yards and is close to the bottom of the Yards per Carry leader board @ 3.6 it does not help his case as one of the best Running Backs.
3rd in All Purpose or Yards from Scrimmage is impressive in itself.

White was pretty good last year as a receiver.
But the dude whiffed against Detroit in the playoffs on two pro pass protects.
Just total whiffs.
Funny he had one of his better running games but gave up the big negative plays as well

BTW, Jerry Eckwood was worse at the line of scrimmage than White. If valuing those two Bucs, I would value White over Eckwood.
Just thought it was funny that a guy like Eckwood was claiming how bad White was in a Buc’s uniform. Ever see Eckwood trying to score. Ouch,
I love a passing game, but Eckwood was part of that 1979 last game of the season. Bucs rushed the ball 62 times in that game and threw 15 passes.
Won the game 3-0 to make their first playoffs ever.

With the new OC and O-Line I see White getting to 4 YPC, which is what is needed. I also think Bucky gets 10 touches a game. At least I hope they mix them in together.

The only players the media likes on the Bucs is Wirfs and Winfield, arguably the best at there position, even Evans is underrated by the media.

Agreed ^^, in fact many of our players have been underrated by the sports media especially Mike Evans. Evans the guy that has made QBs look really good since A&M. Brady, Mayfield, and others will tell everyone how good Evans is too. Shouldn’t have to tell them, sports analysts should see it since the 2014 draft.
Evans has no drama. He is a good guy off and on the field. Last season he had 13 TDs. He is at the top half of the list for wide receivers with TDs. I think Lamb got 14 making him 1st and Mike 2nd from the top. But yet crickets from sports analysts.

This “vote” should just reaffirm what we already know about all of BSPNs “Voters” Joe! What a bunch of Bozos! This list I am sure fell in line with the Pro Bowl/Mr popularity list from last year. Maybe 5 of these “voters” bothered to give any actual thought/research to this.
