Five Safeties, Seven Receivers Make The Cut
September 4th, 2010Welcome to your 2010 Buccaneers.
The Bucs have made their final cuts, and here’s who got the ax, per TBO.com.
* CB Brandon Anderson
* S Vince Anderson
* RB Carlos Brown
* WR Michael Clayton
* C Jonathan Compas (waived/injured)
* G Marc Dile
* T Xavier Fulton
* DE George Johnson
* TE Jeron Mastrud
* LB Rico McCoy
* DT Dre Moore
* DT Carlton Powell
* TE Ryan Purvis
* C Donovan Raiola
* CB Derrick Roberson
* LB Lee Robinson
* DE James Ruffin
* QB Jevan Snead
* FB Rendrick Taylor
* CB Trae Williams
Joe’s really excited for Micheal Spurlock, who really earned his spot, although there might not be much work for him.
Joe is stunned the Bucs are going to carry seven wide receivers, including rookies Arrelious Benn, Mike Williams and Preston Parker, plus Reggie Brown, Maurice Stovall and Sammie Stroughter.
Goodness, there’s only one football!
Corey Lynch also was rewarded, and the Bucs are hanging on to five safeties, including Sabby Piscitelli, Tanard Jackson, Cody Grimm and Sean Jones.

I guess we are going to be seeing more 5 receiver sets and nickel base defense this year.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:39 pm
Reggie Brown and Sabby are trade bait right now IMO.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:44 pm
I don’t think we are done with additions and subtractions. The waiver wire has some nice potential pieces and adding some superior talent to what is currently on the roster is what I see coming. We still need help on the offensive line, backs and defensive ends. if there is someone out there that is better than what we currently have, those changes will be made. And as we stand at #3 in line, we have a very good chance of making some more upgrades. This current roster is far from being etched in stone.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
I agree with Spirit 76, don’t forget we have to make one more cut week 2. When we get back Talib.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Im surprised that Ryan Sims made the cut. Im pretty sure he did absolutly nothing last year along with. Sabby and Clayton, And Derrik Ward. I guess you only have to produce on offence???

What a sad list of nobodys… its no wonder Sabby made it… this team is worthless.
I guess Madden 2011 is right, the Bucs roster is in a sad state.

Further proof that you live in the land of make believe.

Only issue is that we’re going to be a little thin on the OL.
Let’s hope we don’t have any injuries…
September 4th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
Upon hearing of this roster, the rest of the NFC South has forfeited the Division Title.
No need to even try and compete with these Hall of Famers with Rah at the helm.
September 4th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
Javier n Wimauma
do you and ERIC
have a clue what rebuilding is? Seriously, you come on here and bitch and whine like a little girl about the personal and how things have been done for 2 years now…
GET OVER IT, we all know what this is … rebuilding through the draft because the Glazers are broke.
Seriosuly… GET THE F*** OVER IT and embrace the youth movement and enjoy watching them grow and mature..
Or leave

Rock on!!!
September 5th, 2010 at 12:07 am
@Javier n Wimauma I destroy anyone I play in madden and I’m always the bucs, lets rock…
…can’t believe Sabby made the cut, hopefully he’ll be a special teams stud and Grimm and Lynch’s awesome play will keep him off the field.

The only surprises I see on the cut list are:
DT Dre Moore (I thought he was in much better shape than in the past, and so another year might have helped him a lot; although we are stacked at DT)
C Jonathan Compas ( I guess this might have been the last year of his contract, but this move leaves us with no backup at center…and that killed us last year)
So, our current team is:
C – Faine, Jeff
CB – Barber, Ronde
Biggers, E.J.
Lewis, Myron
Mack, Elbert
DE – Crowder, Tim
Lorig, Erik
White, Stylez G.
DE/DT – Moore, Kyle
DL – Bennett, Michael
DT – McCoy, Gerald
Miller, Roy
Price, Brian
Sims, Ryan
FB – Pressley, Chris
OG – Joseph, Davin
Vincent, Keydrick
Zuttah, Jeremy
K – Barth, Connor
LB – Black, Quincy
Hayes, Geno
Hayward, Adam
Koutouvides, Niko
Ruud, Barrett
Watson, Dekoda
LS – Economos, Andrew
P – Bowden, Brent
QB – Carpenter, Rudy (3)
Freeman, Josh (1)
Johnson, Josh (2)
RB – Graham, Earnest (2)
Huggins, Kareem (3)
Smith, Clifton (4;KR)
Williams, Carnell (1)
S – Grimm, Cody
Jackson, Tanard (1)
Jones, Sean (1)
Lynch, Corey
Piscitelli, Sabby
OT – Hardman, Derek
Lee, James
Penn, Donald (1)
Trueblood, Jeremy (1)
TE – Gilmore, John (3)
Stevens, Jerramy (2)
Winslow, Kellen (1)
WR – Benn, Arrelious
Brown, Reggie
Parker, Preston
Spurlock, Micheal
Stovall, Maurice (2)
Stroughter, Sammie (3)
Williams, Mike (1)
ON I.R.
LB – Alston, Jon
T – Dotson, Demar
DE – Gilbeaux, Brandon
SUSPENDED Game 1
CB – Talib, Aqib
Interesting that Pressley has become the Starting Fullback. I was hoping he would make the team, but I didn’t expect him to overtake Graham at the position. It will be nice to see Graham at RB again.
My biggest concern right now is Center. Faine already got injured last year, and we saw how badly it affected the team. We need to get a decent guy in here for a one year deal then draft one next year.
I guess Zuttah is our new backup center, unless our long snapper can fill in in a pinch.
May favorite two guys to make the grade…Michael Spurlock and Cory Lynch.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:57 am
As to Javier and Eric and their criticisms…
…as I look down the team roster, I find it difficult to name a position where we are not pretty good with the starters…maybe really good in all of them but Safety (Sean Jones; He’s passable but not great).
As a matter of fact…when I look at the above list…I feel confident this team could exceed expections THIS year, depending on how long it takes our DL to gel.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But I guess they had to have at least a little vet exp with the DT unit. Still, I was never high on Dre Moore, but considering he came into the league severely overweight and how trim he’s looking now compared to then, it at least shows he’s become a hard worker. More time would have been well spent.
Is he still elegible for Practice Squad?
September 5th, 2010 at 7:30 am
As I look down the roster I see two new starters on offense, Vincent and Williams. And on defense McCoy and Jones.
This is the best the manchild can do?
September 5th, 2010 at 7:57 am
Eric…your last post was foolish. You had two days of a good attitude, and now you are back to bashing just to bash. Keep it up and you may end up on the Radio and Javier list.
September 5th, 2010 at 8:26 am
Going into their first and second years Warren Sapp, John Lynch, Derrick Brooks and most all Pro Bowlers were pretty much no-bodies. So this team may yet be okay. Will there be any Pro Bowlers in this bunch? Who knows. But I like what I see. If hating on them makes you feel superior, enjoy your sad little outlook. Just glad I don’t have to be you.
September 5th, 2010 at 8:50 am
Eric is just someone who can’t help but be a sarcastic pessimist. It just takes getting used to. Javier and radio are just mindless haters, that I will never get used to.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:14 am
It’s likely that some of these guys just like to stir up the real Buc fans, taking some sick humor in it. So be it. Flies are an annoyance as well, but most people just brush them away and go on enjoying the picnic.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:21 am
Am I wrong as to the new starters?
I got it from the bucs own depth chart.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Oops, sorry Eric, I misread your post. I thought you were saying they were the only true starters. I see what you meant. Sorry about that.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:33 am
Sabby = trade bait
September 5th, 2010 at 12:58 pm
Why would any trade for sabby if he sucks as bad as all of you claim ??
September 5th, 2010 at 1:26 pm
Eric, I would figure Kyle Moore is a new starter as well. And, you could say Roy Miller is a new starter this year. He definitely wasn’t the “main” starter at DT last year, although he finished the year starting more games. Also, it’s undetermined who will open at the Z WR spot, but if Stroughter is on the field, he also was not a starter last year, although he had a lot of playing time. Regardless, we aren’t opening the season with an injured AB and Clayton at WR, so to open the season, we have 2 new starters there over last years opener.
If you’re comparing starters opening this season to starters ending last season, I’m not upset with 2, as they won 2 of 3 to finish the season, and played pretty tough down the stretch. So, I guess I still don’t see your point.
September 5th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
I guess I am wondering if you (Eric) think that Talib and Barber are bad CBs? Hayes, Ruud and Black bad LBs? They’re all starting again, and I think they’ll do pretty well. They’ve given no indication of being worse than last year. What about Tanard Jackson? Should he have been replaced as a starter by Grimm or Lynch? Maybe Freeman shouldn’t be our franchise starting QB? Put JJ or Carpenter in? How about the O-line… one was replaced… Are Penn, Faine, Joseph not good starters? Maybe K2 should ride the pine while Stevens plays?
I admit we didn’t upgrade at RB or DE, but I don’t think we got worse either. We did upgrade at WR (you may say AB is better, but he was injured from preseason on, so I’d say Williams is better than an injured AB for sure). We did upgrade at DT (there’s no way you’re saying that GMC/Price/Miller isn’t better than Hovan/Sims/Miller). So, how many more of the starters did you think they could replace in one offseason? They’ve added depth with young guys like Watson, Benn, Grimm.
Yes, they need to address RB, DE, and O-line still, but they can’t get everything in one offseason. Especially one where most UFA’s are still RFA’s.
September 5th, 2010 at 4:10 pm
I don’t think the Bucs are done yet. I’d look for a couple 2 or 3 players to come in off the wire, so cuts should go deeper.
Uh Sabby, Bubbye.

Report: Bucs claim Patriots C Ted Larsen off waivers
The Bucs began raiding NFL teams for talent by claiming center Ted Larsen off waivers from the New England Patriots, according to ESPNBoston.com.
The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Larsen was a sixth-round pick by the Patriots from North Carolina State. The Patriots had hoped to sneak him through waivers and re-sign him to their practice squad.
There’s #1. Bubbye Sims…

BigMacAttack:
Bucs also picked up a scrub running back Joe believes. At least he remembers reading that on Twitter.
September 6th, 2010 at 7:31 am
@BigMacAttack
Cool, at least the threat I felt at Center wasn’t ignored by the coaching staff. I mentioned above that Center was now a weakness in depth; not that I think the coaches would ever read anything I posted, but it’s good to know they see the same things I saw and are making an effort to correct the problem.
@Eric
I have to point out that the objective is not to add new starters each year, it’s to develop good enough players so that there is not a need to add new starters each year. So in that respect, things are proceeding fine.
