Cuts Reveal First Draft Bust Of New Regime
September 4th, 2010Offensive tackle Xavier Fulton, the Bucs’ fifth round pick in 2009, who looked bad last preseason and was sidelined last year because of injury, is no longer a Buccaneer.
He was rather invisible this summer and is now the first stain on Mark Dominik’s apparently strong draft record. Sort of a step toward evening the stains on the general manager’s free agent ledger.
Joe wishes Fulton well.

5rd picks are not that good and that’s why they are still on the board that late in the draft. They’re projects and if they turn out to be good that’s great but most of them don’t make it in the NFL. To call Fulton a bust is just not fair.
D@mn you GOAT, I hope they kept you around only to trade you and get something for your sorry @ss.

My friends and I jokingly call Mark Dominick “St Mark”
St Mark we have a lot of respect for because he is a real man, and can admit when he is wrong. He signed both Clayton and Ward to big salaries, and cut them. He admitted his mistakes. Ok, so Fulton did not work out either, so bye bye. St Mark is doing a great job, in case no one noticed. he is rebuilding our team, and doing a wonderful job. He is allowed a few mistakes, and when he admits them, all the better. You go St Mark!

are we seriously considering 5th round picks busts now? give me a break for crying out loud.

if a certain Tightends knee does not hold up, how bad does this draft start to look.

As Bucs fans we know a thing or two about bad drafts. Long way to go, but so far, not too bad.

Of course you say “not too bad.” you have the rest of that draft penciled in as Probowlers already. But so far, all we really have is a Quarterback that almost has a 2 Interception to 1 touch down average, Can’t read defense. 2nd pick traded for a 1 dimensional Tightend with a cronic bad knee. 3rd pick A Defensive Tackle for a defense we scraped half way through the year. then select 2 replacement D-Tackles the following year.
Sure Jim Buc, as in your world, the Bucs are great. Enjoy the 4 win season.

Yes, agreed, gotbbucs.
Releasing a 5th round pick a year after the draft does not mean he is a bust, nor does it reflect negatively on the GM.
Just means he didn’t work out, or was part of the numbers game.
This is scratching for a story…

LOL. The Buc realist with “the Haters Refrain”: “They have not done anything yet.: DUH. Of coures not dolt, they are just getting started. too funny.
Interesting that you try to critiize me for seeing them all “as Pro Bowlers already,” yet you do the same thing in reverse, calling them all BUSTS. LMAO, are you even smart enough to realize that? Critcizing me while doing exactly what you are being critical of? Ridiculous.
I don’t think any of them are “Probowlers already,” but thanks for letting us known that you think they are all BUSTS. So funny.

Hardly a “bust”.
The draft is a crap shoot even in the early rounds. Heck the Broncos traded a number one for a seventh rounder today.
Every GM will have some misses, whether Bruce Allen or Mark Dominik, in both the draft and FA’s.

Well said, Eric.

Joe here,
Eric and company, you’re playing semantics here. The guy was a fifth-rounder who did nothing. That’s a bust. And that’s OK. They all don’t make it. Maybe one shouldn’t consider a sixth or seventh-rounder a bust since their odds are so long. …But a mid fifth-round pick they don’t deem worthy of the practice squad is a bust.

Joe, I think Eric was speaking in general terms, not just Fulton

hey guys, just wanted to come in and make something out of nothing
signed: failure (i.e. joe)

Joe here,
Pat, welcome. …You really should have a better attitude, though.

You down talk Winslow? Please. Winslow was the only pass catcher over 500 yards last year, and he was less than 200 away from 1,000 yards. He might have knee issues in the off season, but he shows up during hte regular season.
On Freeman, clearly youhave not been paying attention. In the two games he played, he read the defenses perfectly…against starters. It’s not locked in stone yet, but the book is not closed on Freeman at all…it’s barely begun.
Roy Miller is a beast.
Biggers is coming along very well.
And obviously Stroughter is working out extremely well.
So your words are obviously meant to encite strong reactions…unfortunately for you they just advertise your ignorance.

LOL, like that’s really Pat! 🙂

Well with all these stupendous picks, beating the brownies ought to be a piece of cake?
September 5th, 2010 at 4:21 pm
So we have 1 more Week and we can begin to replace all the fiction with facts.
Will Freeman Start? Probably not.
Will K2 be ready? Probably not, but will play anyway.
Will the Oline learn to run block? Probably not.
Will Raheem blow his challenges? Good Chance.
Will Rachel Watson call Joe and ask him out? Not a Chance in Hell.
Questions, questions, time for answers. They should come quick. It will either be real good or real ugly, real fast. Maybe they should pull a Belichick and put Exlax in Cleveland’s water coolers. They could also fill the stands with…. Blow-up Fans! Sellout! Packed House!
