Adam Rank Believes Bucs Implode In 2024

July 1st, 2024

Ugly prediction.

If this happens, will we be on Coach Watch in January?

If this happens, will Joe be writing countless stories about Quinn Ewers and Cam Ward daily from February through April?

If this happens, for whom will we light candles?

Sometimes-humorist Adam Rank of NFL Network recently went through every NFL team’s schedule and decided to break down each team’s games for a final season record.

It wasn’t pretty for the Bucs.

Rank, for full reasons he did not detail, is down on the Bucs this year referencing Tampa Bay’s 2023 season in which they won the division (for the third straight time), curb-stomped the Eagles and had the Lions on the ropes on the road in the fourth quarter.

“Surprise champions last year,” Rank said of the Bucs winning the NFC South (again). “Hey, they won a playoff game.”

Rank doesn’t believe there will be any surprises this year as he has the Bucs finishing 6-11.

Rank predicts the jet lag the Eagles will have from traveling to Brazil to open the season against the Packers will finally catch up with them in the heat and humidity of a late-September game in Tampa.

(Somehow, Rank expects the Bucs will be coming off a home loss to the bumbling Broncos in Week 3.)

Like last year, the Bucs will have a mid-season slump, Rank says. After beating the Eagles at home in Week 4, Rank has the Bucs losing six of their next seven games.

In the Monday night game at Kansas City, Rank says, “I think it’s safe to say that’s a loss.”

Rank also has the Bucs getting swept by the slimy Saints while splitting the season series with the Dixie Chicks but sweeping the Stinking Panthers.

“I think last season was special for Baker Mayfield,” Rank said. “But I think it’s going to be a struggle this year and I have the Bucs for six victories.”

Here is how Rank has the NFC South shaking out:

New Orleans 10-7
Atlanta 9-8
Tampa Bay 6-11
Carolina 2-15

If the Bucs lose 11 games, Joe would guess not only does Mayfield have a subpar year, but the team will continue not to have a solid edge rusher, or a run game.

If the Bucs lose 11 games, it’s hard to believe there won’t be changes. What those would be, Joe can only guess.

  1. Buddha Says:

Why do you bother with these, Joe. Unless they put out their record for previous years they are meaningless.

  2. Red Skeleton Says:

Don’t like his prediction but looking at the schedule its not off base either. We just need a pass rush and a running game to plip the script.

  3. Jeagan1999 Says:

He had the right numbers….just in the wrong order…Bucs 11-6 this season!!!

    GO BUCS!
    LFB!

  4. Upstate NY BUC Says:

OK Adam, whatever!! Saints will not even win 7 games. If our running game jives our receivers are unstoppable, we are easily 10-7. Let’s go Bucs.

  5. Danny Says:

We’re going to lose to the Giants coming off a bye week?

  6. Red Skeleton Says:

His numbers are not unrealistic looking at the schedule. But if we find a pass rush and running game I think we flip the script at least 10 wins.

  7. SlyPirate Says:

Better roster, better OC, both OT in year 2 of their position, healthy CK, improved Yaya and Mauch, WR familiarity with the QB.

I could go on. Basically, the Bucs made across the board improvements, no real improvements by any other team in the NFCS (Cousins?), and no roster or coaching setbacks gets the Bucs -3 wins. Because … wait for it … he has a feeling the Bucs are going to struggle. Impressive work!

  8. BucsFan55 Says:

Can’t wait for this guy to eat it

  9. A Bucs Fan Says:

Looks like Adam could not over come and has fallen back into cynicism regarding baker.

  10. Mr. Editor Says:

I will definitely save this and refer back to it during the season. He is high on the Aints, but did he factor in Kamara’s potential contract holdout?

  11. Fan of the South Says:

Don’t see the Broncos coming to town and winning but Bucs could be one game down in the win column after 4 weeks when compared to 2023. Losing 5 of the next 6 is a possibility and going into the Bye 3-7 is not the end of the world in the NFCS.

Although I can see Gardner Minshew coming to town and stealing a must win for the Bucs in Week 14. Minshew didn’t actually steal the 2023 Colts game it was a giveaway by failing to protect the ball and fumbling it away on the final drive.

  12. Ed Says:

Lets see if they come out early in the season strong. Schedule starts out favorable in September:

Commanders, Bronco’s and Eagles all in Tampa. Detroit in Ford Field.

If they can defend those home games and come up with a 3-1 start it certainly can give them confidence for the October schedule:

@ Falcons, @ Saints, Ravens and Falcons in Tampa.

Is it crazy to think they can’t win at Atl or NO? Even a split and a win over Falcons in Tampa and halfway in the season, its a 5-3 or 6-2 start.

Very possible if everything clicks and offense gets 25 points a game.

November starts at KC, with Niners coming to Tampa. 2 losses? Probably. Then @ Giants and @ Panthers. 2 wins? possible giving them a 7-5 record heading into December.

December Raiders and Panthers at home, Chargers and Cowboys on the road, split at 2-2 and they are 9-7 going into that final game @ home vs Saints.

Either a win and a 10-7 record or a loss and a 9-8 record. Pretty realistic expectations.

  13. All_da_way Says:

Under Bowles the Bucs own the Saints so how do the Bucs lose both games against them and not at least split?

  14. Saskbucs Says:

Still baffles me anyone would be high on the Saints. Why do these people like them? I know same record as us but Allen hasn’t shown anything as a coach. Carr is not a good QB. They have bigger ? On the OL than we do, they can’t add pieces cause they are still in cap hell. Their defensive stars are older than our guys. Cam Jordan was worse than JTS on the stat sheet last year. It’s craziness. Not saying they will be awful but if anyone in NFCS is taking a step backwards this season, I believe it’s them.

  15. HC Grover Says:

They will not implode. They will be in the middle of the pack.

  16. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

Adam who? Seriously. Jose, it’s your choice but I would not be giving these nobodies a platform. Not much else to write about for the next three weeks though.

  17. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

BTW, Bucs will be 11-5 clearing the division by three games.

  18. Buc4evr Says:

No reason given by another expert but this clown is certainly entitled to his wrong opinion. I do not see any mid season slump this year as we actually have an OC that seems to know what he is doing. If anything, Baker will be more dialed in with the WRs and our O line is going to be better. I think the Defense will even be better. 11-6 at the minimum.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All of these opinions combined are not worth a bag of bull$hit…..

We need to play some games before anything matters…….can we get to TC so we can have some real news?

  20. Dude Says:

I see my fellow Bucs fans grappling with reality like Steven Segal. It’s a QB driven league and usually when you’re set at QB you, you get the benefit of the doubt like the Falcons & Saints to some degree but why is our “guy” not getting respect after the “career” year last season? lol

  21. View from 132 Says:

Totally possible, just based on strength of schedule. Look at the schedule – where are there 10 or 11 wins?

    I would assume a split of division opponents… 3-3

KC, Detroit, Philly, Baltimore, San Francisco, Dallas… even if you split those, optimistically… so 6-6

That means you have to sweep Washington, the Giants, Chargers in LA, Raiders and Broncos to get to 11-6

Not impossible, but 7 or 8 wins and maybe 9 is the realistic bet.

  22. BakerFan Says:

Everyone needs to write this guys name down and when he is completely wrong barrage him with emails letting him know he needs to get another profession. Damn idiot.

  23. Pigsueybucsfan Says:

Calling Rank a humorist is correct because he is a joke. Never put much weight to his opinions Bucs should have a winning season if we can avoid the injury bug. GO BUCS!

  24. Joe in Michigan Says:

Thank you Ranker Spanker, for the bulletin board material.

  25. Brian in St Pete Says:

6-11? Cmon, man. We’ll get most, if not all, of those wins just in our own division games. Let the bulletin board material commence, by all means.

  26. BucsFan Says:

    Adam is RANK

  27. Pickgrin Says:

8 wins is the floor – and thats if everything goes wrong and there are multiple key injuries.

13 wins is the ceiling if everything goes right – few injuries – solid running game – Baker finally looks every bit like a #1 overall draft pick in his 7th year…

The final result will most likely fall somewhere in between.

Even with a somewhat tough schedule – this 2024 Buccaneers team should be expected to win 10 or 11 games. Anything less than that with our roster would be under-achieving IMO.

Betting the over at 7 1/2 for the Bucs seems like a very safe bet to me….

Anyone seriously predicting the Bucs will win only 6 games in 2024 is a moron – or a maroon – or a marionette…

  28. catcard202 Says:

I’m firmly in the 10-7 or better mindset for the Bucs.

Coen’s attack will improve scoring by 5+ pts a game (25pts/game or >)
Baker has weapons around him to make it work.
The OL will be better – start to finish – improving the run game.
While the D will stay baseline good = <21pts/game.

Even with a much tougher schedule on paper, there is a clear path to 10-7 or better & 4-peat as NFC South champs.

Run buckshot over the NFC South

  29. #99 the big fella Says:

These articles kind of get old.. yeah we know, everyone thinks the bucs will suck.
Can’t wait for real football to get here so we don’t get hit with these once a day negative articles.

  30. GoneGator Says:

I can envision a scenario where we beat some of these teams the talking heads predict we’ll lose to automatically. Don’t be shocked when/if we win @ least 1 or 2 against Detroit, Eagles, KC, SF etc

Anything less than 10 wins would be a huge disappointment unless the OL continues to struggle or the defense regresses.

  31. ballwasher61 Says:

who says we have to lose to Detroit, KC, Baltimore or Sf? And the Cowsills? They may play like crap at any given time so can any other team. The first place winning starts is between your own ears….

  32. Booger Says:

I just hope he is held fully accountable and in a very public, laughable way, if/when proven wrong. With all of his picks. I hope he is completely exposed for being the clown that he is. I hope he is miserably off on everyone of his picks. I mean, I hope it is SO BAD that the only work he can find is having to do a podcast alone, all by himself, that NOBODY listens to. And I don’t even know the guy! LoL

  33. SlyPirate Says:

    Joe,
You like to do those absurdly long labels for people. You should start an annual list of Bucs media naysayers. Put every media name in a single list and let’s run with it all season. You might make an enemy or two but Jason Licht (and the rest of us) would LOVE IT! Media accountability. Crazy thought.

  34. Mike C Says:

Joe, put a quarter in the jar, every time you mention edge rusher, you will be rich…… get off of it BRO, WE KNOW!

  35. Joe Says:

Joe, put a quarter in the jar, every time you mention edge rusher, you will be rich…… get off of it BRO, WE KNOW!

Sorry, Joe isn’t one to play ostrich, especially about the most important position on a defense.

  36. Mike C Says:

OK, just be a broken record then….. see you after the season starts

  37. Drunkinybor Says:

Just read a article on the spectacle that has the Bucs winning the division and blowing out the bears in the nfc championship game 47-9 then the Bills in the superbowl 63-5. That might have been a dream, maybe, well, probably.

  38. Dave Pear Says:

Ed has a very reasonable and realistic take. And if they perform to potential can get to 11 wins.

Can’t wait to see Dennis Allen fired mid season.

  39. Hodad Says:

    Implode? How about explode?

  40. unbelievable Says:

Good thing he’s nothing more than another clueless NFL media member who is consistently wrong, yet somehow keeps his job breathing hot air.

Here’s some highlights from his predictions in 2023:

Had the Bears going 12-5 and the Lions going 8-9
Panthers finishing 2nd in the NFC South and the Bucs finishing 4th
Had the Cowboys and Giants at 9-8
Had the Jets going 13-4, The Bills at 9-8 and the Patriots at 8-9
Had the Bengals at 14-3 and the Browns at 6-9

LOL @ anything he says about predictions

  41. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

unbelievable you beat me to it! I just Googled to see what this guy said last year. Had every team in the NFC South winning 9 games except for out Bucs, only winning 7.

These talking heads are useless. I can’t wait to see who this year’s Kenny Pickett is for preseason. Remember last year, all the morons talking about how he was going to be awesome because he was sooooo good in preseason games?

  42. Booger Says:

I don’t know if anyone else on here has mentioned it, but I think I saw where Ol’ Florio had the Bucs at #9 in the pre camp PFT Power Rankings (whatever that is). Supposedly, everyone has wetted the bed and lost their minds over it, but I’m pretty good with it… I would prob swap the Texans & Packers tho, but it’s aight! It’s only currently, & not a prediction.

  43. BucU Says:

Just another drive by pundit that don’t know shyt. They’re a dime a dozen.

  44. KABucs Says:

    Booger, saw that.
    Florios comment:
“9. Buccaneers: For some reason, they still aren’t being taken seriously. They should be.”

    I agree!

  45. David Gaul Says:

Who cares what Adam Rank thinks, he’s never played football at any level that matters and is a fantasy football dork! All these talk heads they higher now are blow heads , 99% of these guys would pas out and croak if they had run the 40 yd dash! All you have to do is look at what they said in the pass and you can see they haven’t a clue what they are talking abou! It’s who can yell the loudest and say funny quips! Stop acting like because you play dungeons and dragons you know real football

  46. Joe Says:

Who cares what Adam Rank thinks

    You do. 🙂

  47. Larrd Says:

The preseason game-by-game prediction method seems to be the least valid way to go.
