Yaya Diaby Preparing For 50 Snaps A Game

More Yaya Diaby would be/should be a good thing.
The absolutely beastly rookie edger rusher last season seemed limited only by Todd Bowles not giving him more snaps early in the season — in addition to A-list competition late in the season.
Diaby, the Bucs’ most dominant edge rusher with 7 1/2 sacks, didn’t start until the Bucs faced the Colts in Week 12. (What a horrid game that was except for Rachaad White exploding for 100 yards on 15 carries. Nothing worse than getting carved up by Gardner Minshew.)
Diaby didn’t do much against the Colts but bounced back with 3 1/2 sacks in the final six regular season games before going invisible in the playoffs.
Still, all season long Diaby never hit the 50 plays a game mark. And that should change this season, he told SiriusXM NFL Radio last week.
“I’m definitely ready for 50 snaps a game, and that’s what this offseason is really, really about for me right now,” Diaby said. “It’s just working more and moving more, my coach already told me, ‘Last year was just a glimpse, so this year you’re going to have to take on a bigger role.” I’m just ready for it.”
Diaby played about 62 percent of the snaps when he was a starter. Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett in his prime? He played about 80 percent of the Bucs snaps in his prime with Tampa Bay.
Of course, Diaby is a chiseled warrior in his prime at just 25 years old. So Joe has no doubt Diaby can handle an increased workload, especially preparing for it all offseason.
Is Diaby primed for a 10-sack season? Likely if he’s not forced to fight off double teams all season.

I, too, believe that Mr. Diaby has the ability and talent to play 50 snaps per game, but let’s hope that the offense keeps the defense off the field.

He better be… thats todd’s mo…….the old bucs were bend but don’t break, the new bucs are bend, twist and get torched.
I do think the pass rush comes alive this year. it’s not for a lack of talent

Less worried about his workload and more interested in the “bend” he referenced a few weeks back and the gains he’s made playing with a better pad level. Diaby is a good one, but more snaps also means more shots at getting into the different personnel groups and really mixing things up. Already liked what he & Kancey showed playing inside/outside one another, especially running games and blowing up gaps/OLmen.

Todd has a way about him, making dudes like Minshew, Taylor’s Heineken, Dismal Ridder all look like John Elway in his prime. Fascinating. But, Todd is adjusting.

Agreed, YaYa can handle the added workload. Also agree with others, he will have over 12 sacks this season. This is his breakout year.
