Graham Barton’s Career Advice

Rookie chatter.
He’s just 22 years old, but Joe was interested to hear Buccaneers rookie Graham Barton answer when asked how he would advise anyone trying to make it to the top in a career, any career.
Regular listeners to The Rock Stops Here podcast know host Rock Riley (Joe’s good buddy) closes every interview asking his guest to state his No. 1 core belief when it comes to success.
In essence, Riley wants to hear how that guy made it to the pinnacle of his profession, whatever it may be.
Sure, Barton is a rookie, but just making the NFL is special and, thankfully, Barton seems to get it.
“Prove it every day,” Barton said, referring to his career guidance to anyone.
“Like I know I’m in the NFL, but I don’t feel like I’ve proven anything yet. Yeah, I was a draft pick and, you know, successful in college, but now I’ve got to prove it at this level and start all overall. I just think no matter where you’re at in life, not matter what’s going your way or what’s not, just show up every day and prove it, prove why you belong. I think that’s kind of my motto and it always will be.”
Barton sure talks a great game at all times. He’s an impressive guy.
Now he’s got to prove it on the field. Whatever happens, it’s a safe bet Barton will give it his all.

I’m looking forward to many years of Graham Baron at C. He seams very impressive mentally and physically. Just what you need at C. Nothing is a lock in the NFL, but he makes me optimistic that our OL will be much improved.

Nothing against Barton but I still wonder if the Bucs should have traded down and drafted JPJ. I’d feel pretty good with a 340lbs C and an extra pick that would have brought the Bucs a CB or MLB. Bygones.

@Sly very much could be true. Although I read that JPJ fell down the Bucs draft board due to personality and culture fit.

The Bucs made the right choice. After a couple months of underwear football, it seems Jason had a good draft.

Ben Bredesen is getting lots of reps at Left Guard.
Last year,he started alot of games for the Giants.
AT CENTER
He hasnt played left guard in a couple years.
Graham Barton is getting the snaps at Center.
He was a starter the Last 3 years
AT LEFT TACKLE
He hasnt played Center in over 3 years.
Is Bredesen a great Center? No
Is he 10 times better than Hainsey? Yes.
It looks like a riddle listed above. If only I could see what must be an OBVIOUS answer, on how to make it easy for the guys new to the team . . . . .
IVE GOT IT. Lets move All the new guys to new positions!
That way they can try learning a new offense, and a new position at the same time!!
The Bucs love to move Offensive linemen to new positions.
But since we suck at blocking, and the league WORST at running the ball every damn year,
Id have to say all the shuffling guys around has been a failure.
Put what do I know? Meybe the Bucs dont wanna run the ball!
Meybe we are such passing Gods, that we dont wanna waste a down running!

@Captain Tim is smoking crack. Bredeson was named starting LG two years in a row. In 2022 he had a season ending injury. In 2023 they eventually moved him to RG after they signed Pugh so Bredeson 100% has experience at LG

Captain Tim acts like guys do not move their OL position from college to the pro’s. About 50 percent of the guards in the NFL were tackles in college.
Why? Typically, the best athletes in college on OL play one of the two tackle positions. Not shockingly, the NFL GM’s take the better athletes and fits them into any position along the offensive line.
Plus, the blocking schemes are quite a bit different in the NFL so even if you kept a guy at the same position, there is an adjustment period for these guys.

I didn’t realize how rocked up Barton is. I thought he was more chubby but I must have been looking at old pics because after catching him interviewing at the podium,
WOW! He’s definitely a LARGE and STRONG kinda guy! His weight seems to be nearly ALL muscle and does Not have a gut hanging over his belt line. He could easily put on more NFL pounds in the next off-season if he wants to. He’s only 22 and I guarantee he’s big enough to take on a crowd. And Win! This kid is gonna get Bigger! Just Wow. GREAT PIC!

Bredeson played in 1,014 total snaps over 17 games for New York, which began at the left guard spot after he was the preseason victor in training camp. That responsibility lasted for two weeks before he was thrust into the starting center role in Weeks 4 through 7 in relief of the injured starter and rookie John Michael Schmitz.
He also started week 17 at center.
Yeah, he started 4 games at Center LAST YEAR.

Although Bredeson did initially start the season as at Lg
