“Push Guys To Do The Same”
April 27th, 2024Joe likes how Buccaneers first-round pick center Graham Barton comes across as ridiculously confident but not arrogant in any way.
His Friday radio appearance was a great example.
Speaking on WDAE, Barton talked about coming to the Bucs’ roster to work hard and earn respect quickly while also noting that he will “push guys to do the same.”
Joe can’t remember hearing a freshly-drafted guy talk about pushing teammates to raise their games. Barton said it with ease and confidence.
Joe also was impressed how unintimidated Barton sounded during a chat with NBC Sports.
He spoke of playing center during his freshman season at Duke and, in his first big action, the assignment was North Carolina State nose tackle Alim McNeil. Barton’s point was that he’s faced a lot of stud players in college and he’s NFL-ready. McNeil has had a strong three-year career as a Detroit Lions starter.
Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said he struggled to “poke holes” in Barton as a prospect. As Joe pores over many Barton interviews and studies his film, Joe is struggling to do the same.

It all begins with a solid offensive line, which is actually a unit.
Like a chain it is only as strong as its weakest link. The links are going to be stronger in 2024 and all that is left is for them to learn each other and begin to play as a unit.

Looks like all were right bought replacing Hainsey.
April 27th, 2024 at 4:19 pm
Dudes an earth mover, right in the middle of our offense, definitely a game changer
April 27th, 2024 at 4:22 pm
His neck is bigger than my beer belly midsection!

Barton needs to ask Mayfield to reinstate the “$1K for every 15 yard screen for all 5 linemen,” scheme we recently read about.
Barton would / could / should do it but he aint got paid yet. Need Mayfield’s money.
In all seriousness, love the attitude on this kid. In an Australian accent I’d say Barton is a “keepah.”
Go Bucs ! ! !

Was the biggest need we have had by a mile
Missing on Hainsey, and over drafting Cody and Luke hurt us
April 27th, 2024 at 4:35 pm
For those who remember the great Bruce Matthews, I’m kind of getting that vibe with this guy. Like Matthews, Barton can play all these spots on the o-line. Of course Matthews is an all-timer so I’m not suggesting the comp, was more reminded of it due to his ability to play multiple positions.

He’s a monster, I was kinda hoping we would have drafted a big guard but hopefully with Barton in the center and Wirfs on the left it makes the LGs we have already better.
April 27th, 2024 at 4:40 pm
Off topic- but I hope we can draft Tatum Bethune if he’s available LB FSU
April 27th, 2024 at 4:43 pm
Does anyone know why he was moved from center to tackle?
April 27th, 2024 at 4:49 pm
Well my guess is that he was the best athlete on the line and they needed a left tackle and the blind side is the most important so they moved him over and had someone else to snap
April 27th, 2024 at 4:52 pm
Detroit Lions starter?
April 27th, 2024 at 4:56 pm
If I had to take a guess, the reason they moved him from C to LT is because of his Athletic versatility.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:08 pm
Yawn. I was hoping for Superman with Hulk’s weight and the speed of The Flash. What a disappointing draft.
***sarcasm***

That interview was hard to listen to honestly. If you had yo take a shot for every time he said “you know”, you and your grandkids would have alcohol poisoning.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:26 pm
Anthony, what I heard was that he was moved to center due to injury of the previous guy and then moved back to his previous tackle position later.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:32 pm
Yeah, Ryan. He’s obviously an inarticulate boob. Don’t put a microphone in his face.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:48 pm
It’s almost Belonzo Chatangrin time.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:51 pm
Jason back to the trench! EXCELLENT.
I hope Elijah Klein doesn’t like baseball.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:56 pm
I like it!
April 27th, 2024 at 5:56 pm
ABC completely skipped our pick.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:57 pm
Just drafted another guy that’s a mauler in the run, apparently needs work with pass protection.
Basically guard competition & depth at this point.
April 27th, 2024 at 5:58 pm
Bucs draft Elijah Klein, OG, UTEP.
This guy is instantly my favorite player on the team after reading this answer to a Q&A I found…
What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who drive below the speed limit in the passing lane
April 27th, 2024 at 5:58 pm
elijah klein guard. spelling may be off.

Rod Munch Says:
“What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who drive below the speed limit in the passing lane”
I drive at the speed limit. Cruise control has saved me from many a ticket.
April 27th, 2024 at 6:05 pm
Buccaneer Bonzai – do that all you want in the slow lane.
I’m all for shipping people who play traffic cop in the fast lane and backing up traffic being shipped to ISIS for head removal.
April 27th, 2024 at 6:18 pm
Agreed Rod !
I don’t speed, I drive with the flow and in most conditions on 4+ divided highways that is 80 MPH on cruise control.
I have been driving since the days when 80MPH was FLYING and you could feel it in the way the car sounded and handled. Modern cars at 80 are silky smooth rides.
April 27th, 2024 at 7:32 pm
SB~LV – No kidding. When I was a kid I had to drive a crappy Chevette that literally felt like it would shake apart doing 60mph – now I got a Corvette and a BMW, and you can do 120 in either and they barely feel like you’re moving, it’s really amazing how much better cars are today – not that I’d actually drive that fast, that comment was 100% for entertainment purposes only.
But people in the fast lane just sitting there blocking traffic — that is absolutely the top cause of road rage in America, without a doubt.

He will need speech work at some point prior to running for office. “You know” is an obvious crutch phrase to bridge him to the next part of his internal narrative. He’s confident but he’s also wants to say the right thing, which will widen that bridge. Slow down just a bit, and when you get more comfortable, imagine what you have to say as a chandelier rather than a continuous line. In the meantime time, Who gives a whowa how he talks now.

Gonna ba a massive logjam at G.
May the best men win!

Barton is smart and obviously did his homework. He knows how tight the Bucs locker room is, and that is a BIG factor with them. Bring on the UDFAs, Licht!

Hoping to see some pics of Graham hanging out with Baker and Tristan. Think they would get along and I’m sure that Baker wants to bond with the guys protecting him.
