Three Final Mock Draft Results
April 25th, 2024A few NFL big guns have issued final mock drafts.
Typing this is the “other Joe,” who craves four mock drafts a year from the credible mockers. Yes, four.
What have they assessed and gathered before the NFL Scouting Combine, after the Combine, after the first two waves of free agency and then right before the draft? Seems reasonable. If any mocker goes beyond a 4.0, then this Joe has issues with it.
So NFL.com published in the past 24 hours mock drafts from Peter Schrager, who is among the top NFL gossip insiders and a credible journalist, year-round draft guru and former scout Daniel Jermiah, and Lance Zierlein, a true year-round film guru and the son of acclaimed NFL assistant coach Larry Zierlein.
Joe finds Lance Zierlein to be one of the most underrated analysts out there. He has the Bucs drafting Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry at No. 26 overall. But Joe would wager against that happning.
The Bucs won the Super Bowl without a first-round pick in the secondary, and without a defensive back who had been a Pro Bowler. Per Joe’s research, that was a first in modern NFL history. A first!
Don’t expect the Bucs’ brass to feel McKinstry represents the value they’re seeking.
Jeremiah has the Bucs selecting Florida State beastly edge rusher Jared Verse at No. 26. In Jeremiah’s final mock, Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson goes at No. 23 overall to Minnesota. Jeremiah concedes that Verse may not fall that far because a team is likely to trade up when/if he starts to tumble.
Joe liked hearing various retired offensive linemen this week talk about how they like how Barton plays the game to punish opponents versus just blocking.
Yes, mock season is just about over. It’s a true guessing game, as evidenced by the three very different takes above.

Im with the “other joe” not making this column and believe you need pass rush. If they are off the board then playmakers on offense. You can get great quality O-lineman in the 3-4th round.

Bucs could go with Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 1st round, Gatorade Johnson in the 2nd, and Colt45 Jones in the 3rd. I’d be good with that.

oops, i mean lol Angus

Verse wont be there, but I’d be fine with it if he is. Powers or Barton, one of them will probably be there. If not, and theres a WR KC wants to trade up for, then I would take that. Last pick at 32, get that kid Frazier.

Well, two weeks until some dip spit does a mock for next year. That person should be thrown in traffic as well as the readers of said words.

Our run game is terrible and a good run game eats clock. Get a beastly center please.

There’s actually medication for this epidemic of mockery.
It’s called imbecillin.

Joe says: They’re just guessing, Mr. Glazer. It’s not a leak. He didn’t see the board, but I think I saw a palmetto bug in my office.” lol! wtf is this? Joe so funny on this holy day.

LOL Joe is going to steal that! 🙂

I don’t care because I don’t control it. They are going to do what they do. It works or it doesn’t. These people are in the positions they are for a reason and get paid for it. So I won’t lose sleep one way or the other until I actually see the players in live action.

The Bucs already have their 4-man rotation at OLB set –
– Diaby
– Gregory
– Nelson
– JTS
– with Watts and Ramirez as their developmental/PS/Special teamers
I would be surprised if OLB was our pick at #26.
I would go trenches at pick #26 – IDL or IOL. Logan Hall is not an NFL starter and neither is Robert Hainsey.

If the bucs blow a first round pick on a skinny cb my head might blow iff

I don’t mind if they trade down to the top of rd2 and get Frasier. My only problem would be the disappointment of staying up to watch every other team pick tonight, and then finding out we traded down! 🙁

The people making fun of Kool-Aids name would have passed on Sauce Gardner for the same reason
April 25th, 2024 at 12:32 pm
Going by licht’s history dline first round . Oline or cb rounds 2 and 3 on a possible trade up
April 25th, 2024 at 12:36 pm
Pass on 3 of those guys. Barton would be an upgrade and help out our running game. I’m still hoping for Brian Thomas. I just don’t see an OLB/DE worth taking then. CB is deep and can be had in later rounds. Thank God it’s Draft Day!

Still hoping they draft a center.
April 25th, 2024 at 12:44 pm
I’d be surprised if the Bucs stayed at 26.
If their guy falls, they’ll trade up to get him.
If their guy is selected, they’ll trade down. Too many QBs in the draft. They could get a lot of picks at 26 … which would be crazy.
April 25th, 2024 at 1:11 pm
From what I am hearing the Lions might trade out of the first round altogether. If the needs are minimal then why not trade down for an extra shot at a guy that might not end up on the final roster anyway.

Out of the, er… Palatable names, iid go Sauce. HiC forever!
April 25th, 2024 at 1:20 pm
I hope we get Jared Verse
April 25th, 2024 at 1:59 pm
Is it possible that the Bucs trade this (or a Day 2 pick) to another team for a star player and lesser picks?
April 25th, 2024 at 2:33 pm
It seems like Licht thinks we are a year or two away from being contenders and that should influence the way he picks. I believe he will try to accumulate picks in lieu of trading up and spending precious picks on any player regardless of position. The more picks you have the better your chances of hitting on a pick or two become. If Licht thought we were one player away maybe then he trades up for Latu or Verse, but it seems, as Joe has previously pointed out, that Licht slipped up a bit and intimated we are maybe a couple years out from being a Super Bowl contender. In other words it all depends on how we view ourselves and what Licht does tonight and tomorrow should show truly how the Bucs feel about the Bucs.

How many hours until Halloween in April?
April 25th, 2024 at 4:11 pm
Can’t wait until mock season is over
April 25th, 2024 at 4:14 pm
I’d be fine with Barton.
April 25th, 2024 at 4:41 pm
Buc1987 says
Still hoping they draft a center
They are going to draft a stubby armed punter in the 4th and convert

Peter Schrager is the dude.
