“If You Allow It, …You’re Not Running The Show”
August 26th, 2010Former Buccaneers offensive lineman Ian Beckles (1990-1996) gave a thunderous weigh-in on Sabby Piscitelli speaking out yesterday against his head coach, during the Ron and Ian Show on WDAE-AM 620 this morning.
Beckles said the Bucs have a serious problem on their hands because “If you allow it … you’re not running the show,” adding that Tony Dungy wouldn’t tolerate such insubordination.
Of Sabby, Beckles said, “It sounds like he quit already,” and “If you didn’t think it was a competition than you can’t win.”
Not one to spread rumors, Beckles went on to say he talked to some people and he “heard for sure that [Piscitelli and Raheem Morris] don’t get along,” dating back a while.
Regarding Sabby being upset by learning of his demotion via text message, Beckles, who retired in 2000 after his final stop with the Jets, said players typically learn of their demotion by viewing a depth chart in the locker room. So he wasn’t sure why Piscitelli would be offended by a text.
Beckles didn’t think Piscitelli would be cut by the Bucs because of their lack of depth at the position and because Piscitelli doesn’t earn much money.

So the pros learn the same way we did in high school. That is good to know, so the text was kind of a heads up for him.

Someone needs a pacifier and a nap. Shabby Suckatelli deserves to be demoted for his play and especially with that mindset.
August 26th, 2010 at 11:44 am
The Best should play …period, and i thank goodness we got a couching staff that that has this mentality. Sounds like Sabby is taking this personally when its all about production. If you want to take it personally then use it constuctively to produce not pout. you may not like the move Sabby, but dont take it personal, just step you game up. If you can!

I still say he gets traded.
August 26th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
They need him for depth (unless they feel like Lynch can do it), but don’t think for a second he doesn’t play elsewhere in the near future.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…..Raheem knows X’s and O’s but he doesn’t have a friggin’ clue when it comes to being a leader. Not a clue
He could have nipped all of this in the bud by bringing the hammer down on Talib last offseason. Instead they sat courtside at a Magic game. Had he made an example of Talib then (when he should have, just as Shanahan is doing with Haynesworth, McDaniels did with Marshall & Cutler, etc etc) – Ward, Sabby and Ruud would not be acting like whiny spoiled children now………
August 26th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
When was Ruud whining?
August 26th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
You’re way off base Creamsickle. I admit Rah handled Talib poorly last year, but look at them now. Everyone said he’s matured. We will have to wait for confirmation of that.
Ruud has acted like a pro. He wants more money, how is that Rah’s fault?
Sabby spoke out and the coach put him in his place: “its his problem now”. I think it was handled exactly the way it should have been.
August 26th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Commenter above misses the issue entirely. Talib produces.
August 26th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
Gary is right, and none of us know how Morris handled these guys behind closed doors.
August 26th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Sabby the untrained farm animal is bleating like the goat he is.
August 26th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
“Commenter above misses the issue entirely. Talib produces.”
He does produce…and that’s exactly why Raheem should’ve taken a hard stance with him. It would have sent a crystal clear message on who the leader in the Buc organization is.
The Bucs organization right now is basically a Lord of the Flies situation……just my opinion of course
August 26th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
It’s very tough trasition from being these guys friends and hanging out, to doing what it takes to lead as Head Coach. That is true of any organization that promotes from within. It is especially hard for Rah because of his age.
Last year he was way too much one of the guys.
Some signs that he is getting away from it. Well see if it a successful transformation or way too little way too late.
Something has gotten under the man’s skin!
August 26th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Eric, your are right. I have seen it many times in the work place. Let’s hope he has turned that corner.
August 26th, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Hey…What happened to Capt Tim? Ship wrecked?
August 26th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
McBuc, Last I heard he ste sail on a three hour tour, a three hour tour!
August 26th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Capt Tim is all wigged out cause the regular season is getting closer, and fantasy meets reality!
August 26th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
Eric,
Rumor has it that Sabby and Raheem have never liked each other , from the time RAh was his positions coach. That is probably the only reason he lashed out publicly … not because of some newly discovered coaching enlightenment he obtained out of thin air . You know better than that.
August 26th, 2010 at 5:11 pm
…besides , since when is it considered good coaching to get in a pissing contest with your players via the media , for all the public to see ?
A good coach would have said , ” Our coaches felt Jones won the job , but I’m sure no player on this high a level thinks he should be benched. Next Question”
August 26th, 2010 at 6:29 pm
“”A good coach would have said , ” Our coaches felt Jones won the job , but I’m sure no player on this high a level thinks he should be benched.”
Football Players are competitive people with Pride, the Goat is no different. He should not have done what he did, but Rah should also not have handled it the way he did either. Our D Line last year was terrible, and would make even John Lynch look average. Let’s hope Rah made the right move, or was he pressured to start the 2 free agents we recently signed ? Time will tell ………
August 26th, 2010 at 6:47 pm
I agree with Eric. Something in the last week has snapped in Raheem’s head. Maybe his wife through him out of the house, or maybe he found her in bed with Derrick Ward, or maybe he found out Rich Bissacia gets paid more than he does. Who the f@@k Knows, but something has changed. Maybe Tomlin told him he was too nice. I like it and all the top Coaches are @ssholes, even if they don’t cuss. Good job Raheem, I wouldn’t mind seeing you kick some of these idiots to the curb, including Ruud and his bad attitude. “No excuses, get the job done” is probably the smartest thing Rah has said to date. Hard Core, Our Corps.
August 26th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
You want to kick Barrett Ruud to the curb but not Rah, huh? Bigmac you are clueless. Barrett makes the D and team better, Rah makes the team, well the 3rd worst in the league…
August 26th, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Radio,
I work with a lot of borderline IQ folks, and every once in awhile they surprise you by stating something you didn’t think they could understand.
Rah’s statements are kinda like that.
I’d still fire his ass tomorrow if I had the power.
August 26th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
“I guarantee that the Bucs don’t make a pick at the third spot in the draft. They will trade down because they are too cheap to pay a player at the third spot.”
– Ian Beckles
I’d stick to listening to people that actually talk about football for a living.
August 26th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
fGO…It always seems like Beckles has an ax to grind with the Bucs, but that is kind of his job as a shock, oops, I mean a talk radio host. I stopped listening to him.
August 28th, 2010 at 11:09 am
Yeah, Ian gets on my nerves too.
August 28th, 2010 at 11:16 am
Hey Thumas, after watching Jonathan Vilma last night, Ruud is mediocre on his best day. I know Steve likes him, but I think the MLB should be the best player on the defense and he has the most important role. Ruud is not strong enough, not fast enough, and his heart is somewhere else. I hope that changes but I won’t hold my breath. As for Rah, I have my doubts as well but I am going to give him a few more games before I full on bash him out of here. Ruud on the other hand, I have seen for what, 5 years now, and he has digressed over the last 2 seasons. Spaghetti Arms, weak and puny IMO.
