Curious Quote From Sabby Implies Exit
August 26th, 2010Yesterday delivered a mini bombshell from One Buc Palace when Bucs strong safety Sabby decried his demotion as a starter and claimed he was set up to fail.
But also there was an intriguing quote from Sabby that seems to suggest he’s either preparing to leave the Bucs or an exit has crossed his mind.
Speaking to Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, Sabby explained his mindset.
“I’ll still just keep coming to work,” Piscitelli said. “I’ll still have the same goal in mind, which is to keep on improving. I know my ability. I know what I can do. I can help teams win. I can help this team win, so I’ll keep coming out and trying to make plays.”
Why would Sabby state he “can help teams win?” It seems Sabby is under the impression he may be cut or the thought of leaving the Bucs has crossed his mind. Otherwise, why even bring that up?
Of course, lashing out at your team, suggesting you were the victim of some preordained conspiracy is not really the best way to cement one’s job security. Just ask Matt Bryant.

Ask more than Bryant. Ask a LOT of people on and formally on this team Joe.
Ask Zuttah , ask McCown , ask Clayton , ask Phillips who was preordained to start at LB , ask Graham who is preordained to start at FB even though he is undersized and a poor lead blocker.
There seems to be a LOT of preordained position filling going on around here….

Graham is 235lbs this year….and he’s built for the job.
He used to play at 220-225 as a tailback……..
He is a very solid lead blocker…….
What the hell team are you watching?………

I have never seen more guys impressed with their own abilities on one team…..the fact that its a team coming off a 3-13 season makes it all the more laughable
Ruud, Ward, Sabby……all 3 of you are a friggin’ joke
August 26th, 2010 at 7:59 am
I wonder if Ruud actually had any competition for his job this year? Looking at the preseason games it sure seems like the position needs an upgrade.

2 plays got the goat benched in my book, both blitzes in which he wasn’t touched on the way to the QB, as the QB threw the ball our SS (the one that’s supposed to bring the pain) jumped and didn’t lay a finger on the QB. That’s not the first time he has done that neither dumb plays like that will kill a defense specially coming from a SS.
Memo to the goat quit being scared to hit people especially QB’s and the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence.

You guys ripping on Ruud need to read Steve White’s article about him. Once you understand his job, you will see him in a different light.
August 26th, 2010 at 8:57 am
Eh… he needed work and may never be a good player for the Bucs but good for Sabby. Trying to make sense of the jibbering head coach and his “competitions” is pointless. Glad somebody finally called the “players” coach out.

I think you’re making too much out of the “teams” thing. That could have just been a general statement.
All of you claiming Sabby is right and there is some conspiracy are fools. Suggesting Rah is doing anything else but starting the best player possible — which in turns saves his job — is ridiculous.
Think about this, we have seen Sabby last year play very badly. Now look up Jones’ stats compared to Sabby. He outshines Sabby and only started 9 games! Then think about how neither Jones or Sabby has done better than the other this preseason. That means everything is pretty much equal this year, so taking last year into account Jones is the clear starter.
Sabby crying like a little girl just proves the right decision was made.

The worst tackler in the entire league shouldn’t be calling anyone out, but himself. When asked to evaluate his own talent Sabby says “I know I need to improve in every aspect of the game” At the age of 27 and having been coached by one of the best (Monte Kiffin) Sabby should be at the peak of his career!
The same goes for Ruud! Steve White talks about a particluar play in which Ruud makes the right read and does his job well. Great! That’s one or two plays what about the rest. Ian Beckles while interviewing Joe calls Ruud soft. Sorry, but I’ll take Beckles word on this one.
August 26th, 2010 at 10:19 am
Steve took three plays as examples. I will take White’s word of Beckles all day long.
August 26th, 2010 at 10:19 am
That should have said over Beckles.

@CreamsiclePasties
I agree with all except Ruud. He will prove this year he is no joke.
QUESTION FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW:
Wouldn’t Sabby be staying as a backup? We DO need backups at that position, don’t we? Sabby may not be a starting calibur guy, but as a backup he should be fine. Just as Josh Johnson is not a starting calibur QB.

Has Raheem Morris been demoted yet?
That moron shouldn’t even BE a coach in the NFL.
Nice job Glazer MORONS.
Justin said it best, and I paraphrase, ‘While at the game Saturday, all the fans around me were complaining about the Glazers and when the team was going to get a REAL head coach. I have never seen the CITS have so many empty seats during a game, ever.’
At a game, all through the game, and Bucs fans are b1tching about the owner. NICE PRODUCT you Glazer douches. Go ask yer daddy what to do cause you really f–d up this cash cow.

Pete:
Seems as though the Bucs appear to be pretty deep in the secondary with Biggers coming on like he has, Grimm opening eyes and it’s a good bet that Lynch stays due to his knack for blocking field goals and overall special teams play.
Not saying Sabby will be cut but it wouldn’t shock Joe.
August 26th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
LOL @ DRB saying Graham is built to be a fullback and an excellent blocker….that is so ignorant and false I need not respond to it.
He is the smallest fullback I’ve ever seen , and if is really 235 pounds then I am MIcheal Jackson risen from the dead. No freaking way.
By the way , 2nd on the worst tackler list was Tanard Jackson. WHy does no one ever mention that ? LOL

Hey Radio, buddy, I heard Graham say he is 235 a couple weeks ago. Muscle is denser/heavier than fat, and Graham has no fat. If you see him up close, he’s 235, trust me. Now Rendrick Taylor is a beast and over 260.

Media sticks a mike if front of young upset men then are shocked they say something bad. If you waited a few days they would not say the same thing.
If I fired every young person that lost their cool under duress I wouldn’t have any workers. If they are insubordinate all the time that is a different story.

Topdog…You are correct, but the modern media is looking for ratings not news.
