Report: Bucs Have Not Kicked Tires On Haason Reddick
March 20th, 2024Joe is equal parts baffled, shocked and morally outraged.
Can someone with a sober mind explain to Joe why a team whose best pass rusher is named “Hope” should not show interest in a proven dominant edge rusher? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
If true, this report makes about as much sense to Joe as trying to cure asthma by gargling battery acid. The Bucs are in a win-now mode. Don’t think so? Look at the contracts the team just signed with its valuable free agents.
Mayfield is signed to (potentially) a three-year deal. Mike Evans signed a two-year deal. Lavonte David signed a one-year deal. Chris Godwin has one year left on his contract.
Sense a pattern?
On paper, the Bucs appear to have a strong team, with one exception: They lack the second-most important player on an NFL team and most important on a defense, an edge rusher.
Yes, Joe knows the Bucs are high on YaYa Diaby. So is Joe (yes, seriously!). But here comes that vile word, “hope.” The Bucs hope Diaby is a double-digit sack guy. Why the hope? Because he’s never done it.
So up there in Philadelphia, the Eagles are dangling a guy who the past four years has had no less than 11 sacks in a season, Haason Reddick. Former USA Today NFL writer Cam Marino twittered yesterday that three teams have talked turkey with the Eagles about Reddick.
The Bucs aren’t one of them.
Why? Is someone on the Bucs’ roster sleeping with Reddick’s wife or something? Why on earth would a team that doesn’t have an edge rush outside of that famous Hall of Famer called “Hope” not want a legit, proven edge rusher?
A team that isn’t serious about winning, perhaps? Joe thinks the Bucs are serious about winning. Look at the awesome job Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has done keeping good players in town.
But not wanting a proven edge rusher when the team sorely needs one? Someone’s gonna have to sit Joe down and explain this one. Maybe there’s a slim chance the Eagles don’t want to trade Reddick to the team that hammered them in the playoffs.
And here is the kicker: Guess which of the three teams is the closest to pulling the trigger on a trade for Reddick? The Dixie Chicks!!!
If Atlanta lands this guy and the Bucs defense struggles this fall without an edge rush, Joe will go absolutely bananas. Joe may even get banned from One Buc Palace.
It is bad enough to let a good pass rusher get away but to allow him to land with a hated division rival? That is patently unacceptable and downright irresponsible!

Sounds like a presser question to me!
Sick em!
March 20th, 2024 at 7:20 am
Agree with g buc!
March 20th, 2024 at 7:21 am
Man the Glazers need to give Jason a whiz quiz if he isn’t even in the conversation. I don’t understand the lack of effort on trying for an edge this year in free agency. This secondary is gonna get toasted like they were in grandmas two slice Oster toaster.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:25 am
Maybe they will draft two next month.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:26 am
We will be all right , no sweat, we still have JTS
March 20th, 2024 at 7:28 am
You have to question if this solely falls on Jason or if he is listening to Todd and Todd is telling him that they are fine on the edge. Either way, Jason should know better and get some help. We all see that help is needed.
Would love to see a poll ran on what the readers think.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:28 am
OR … Maybe Jason knows the reality of our salary CAP situation better than Joe or any of us? Just a thought; don’t shoot the messenger.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:32 am
Bowles values run defense and Reddick gets washed in the run game.
He had 1 tackle assist total in two games against the Bucs last year.
Quit watching YouTube highlight reels.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:33 am
You don’t resign two market setting guys to contracts by trading away a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a guy wanting a big money contract at age 29 unless that move gets you to the superbowl and he ain’t Brady, even Brady took a pay cut to come here. Let it go already
March 20th, 2024 at 7:36 am
Salary cap is driving this. You must be able to sign a multi-year deal with Reddick. Also doubt the Bucs want to give up a 2nd and 3rd rd pick (too many other needs). So the Bucs are going the draft route to get someone in the 1st or 2nd round.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:38 am
Our 2002 Super Bowl team wasn’t complete until w signed Simeon Rice….
March 20th, 2024 at 7:41 am
Given the cap situation in order to secure a proven vet edge rusher you need to ask questions like would the Bucs be willing to trade Chris Godwin for an Edge rusher and attempt to draft a replacement?
March 20th, 2024 at 7:42 am
It seems to be very simple to me and these are just my thoughts. The Bucs can’t afford him. I don’t think Lichts gonna mortgage the team to sign one guy. I am sure Licht and Bowles have a decent plan. If they can sign him with out mortgaging the team I am all in. Also is this a fit with Bowles and Bowles defense
March 20th, 2024 at 7:51 am
Bucs need to trade up in the draft for a DE and I think they will.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:52 am
SPEAKING of Eagles, my annoying buddy/Eagles fan saw DW in a press conference.
“THAT `•÷¥ing guy CAN’T TALK” LOL
March 20th, 2024 at 7:54 am
D Lines win SuperBowls.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:55 am
Reddick is looking for new contract at $25 million per year. Too much to pay for 30 year old, especially when you don’t have that much available cap money.
March 20th, 2024 at 7:58 am
Three teams have sown interest in Reddick. Do the math Joe..that means 29 other teams have no interest. Maybe Reddick is viewed as a one year rental. In JL I trust.

JTS is about to go OFF! 17 sacks!
March 20th, 2024 at 8:00 am
“Someone’s gonna have to sit Joe down and explain this one.” I just did but I got moderated. SMH.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:01 am
I am surprised they have not even had initial talks but maybe it’s a tactic. Maybe there aren’t many teams interested in him for a reason. Maybe Licht has another trade lined up already and he and the other GM are keeping it quiet so it doesn’t have a ripple effect on the draft.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:01 am
Yeah, dude’s riding a 3-year $45 million contract he signed in 2022, so unless we’d be willing to pay up to extend a 31-year old LB, we’d be trading draft picks for a one-year rental.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:02 am
Maybe the Bucs are going away from their current base defense to a 4-3 defense.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:02 am
Why would they
It’s like looking in the kilwins window when you only have enough for generic Winn Dixie ice cream
March 20th, 2024 at 8:06 am
Joe, Jason just doesn’t have to navigate this year he also has to navigate the future.
33 Million QB
25 Million OT (projected)
21 Million WR#1
20 Million WR #2
20 Million FS (projected)
20 Million DT
14 Million CB1
That’s a lot of Money. Don’t think the Bucs are 1 player away. Riddick will cost over 20 Million to re-sign
I know the Bucs could do funny accounting, but the funny accounting might be the reason that we are not signing Riddick.
The Bucs have 43 million in dead cap money. They have no problem signing Riddick if they had that money back on the books
March 20th, 2024 at 8:11 am
It is sad that part of the reason for the trade is he is requesting a new much higher contract, so if he’s making $15 million per year now that means he wants 20 or 25 million, so if the Bucks gave up a third round pick it would be for a 1-year rental, this team is not strong enough yet to be one piece away for one year for Super Bowl run. This is coming from a guy that thinks Edge rusher is Priority One every single season, I think it’s contract related.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:14 am
Joe,
I’ve searched for support groups for you…….I found “Edge Rush Anonymous.
Celebrate Recovery welcomes all sorts of addictions…..and then there’s always private counselling. I wish you the best with your addiction.

March 20th, 2024 at 8:14 am
This is where Joe(s) can get a little annoying with their incessant complaining…first off Atlanta is not close to trading for Reddick no where in the tweet did Cam state that…..I believe Jason wants to hold on to the other 3rd to possibly trade up in the first round to secure their guard. Lastly, I think that this team wants to draft and develop, you cannot pay everyone, and Reddick is about to be over 30 and wants $25 million annually. He is no JPP (attitude/dog/culture setter). Calm down and let this play out.
Tombs Out!
March 20th, 2024 at 8:16 am
Although the Bucs had late success last year, Licht doesn’t believe the team is a contender. When he does believe, he goes all in.
You can tell, Licht wants to see more holes filled by young players. He’s positioning the Bucs to be perennial winners rather than one hit wonders.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:24 am
It’s because we have intel he needs neck surgery.
Oh wait…that was someone else.
NM.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:24 am
How did we beat the Eagles in the playoffs when they had the great Haason Reddick? Guess there’s more to winning then having one guy who averages 11 sacks a season. Licht needs to keep adding pieces. This team is far from one edge rusher away from a title.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:24 am
Too expensive man .. we’re broke! Next year a lot more dead cap comes off
March 20th, 2024 at 8:26 am
If we haven’t got one by the draft, might be our first pick.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:28 am
We need a tone setter like JPP or SUH and Reddick does not fit the bill.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:29 am
Expecting JL to draft a quality pass rusher is like hoping Joe sleeps with Rachel Watson…
JL could not draft quality pass rushers…see his history.
Maybe last year he finally figured it out, but prior to that he sucked drafting pass rushers.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:33 am
i’m really starting to think the draft goes something like this:
1- edge
2- c/g
3- edge……………..or maybe wr
3- licht freaky deaky small school move
4- wr
5- ilb
6 – tommy b 🙂
7 – brock turdy
March 20th, 2024 at 8:33 am
He’ll be 30 soon….we just wasted a ton of cash/cap space on Jensen and Shaq. Guessing management doesn’t want to get stuck in that position again.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:34 am
4- wr or edge
(not saying we are drafting 2 wide outs)
March 20th, 2024 at 8:34 am
The Bucs have enough salary cap left to pay their draft picks and that’s about it…
They will have to restructure some more contracts if they are going to sign anyone especially a player as expensive as Reddick.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:36 am
reality is there will be cap issues every gawd dam year moving forward for the rest of your lives as bucs fans 🙂

March 20th, 2024 at 8:38 am
And drafting an edge rusher in the 1st round is great BUT YOU CANNOT RELY ON HIM TO PUT UP DOUBLE DIGIT SACKS. My god, there’s no way this front office is this dumb. I can’t comprehend why this team wouldn’t want Reddick
March 20th, 2024 at 8:40 am
No source quoted in this one, so I am assuming he got the news directly?
Dear, Joe…believe nothing this time of year. You know that!
March 20th, 2024 at 8:41 am
i know licht is a master at locating a small school o-lineman…
but do you think they might try to land a small school sleeper edge guy that’s under the radar in the middle rounds ???
or is that just grasping at straws…
your guess is as good as mine
March 20th, 2024 at 8:43 am
maybe swap our second 3rd rounder to the bears for yannick ngakoue…
he had a down year last season

Beejezus-belt Says
“I don’t understand the lack of effort on trying for an edge this year in free agency.”
Why do you think there has been no effort? Jason Licht usually pulls of at least one surprise deal every year. He’s good at keeping things hushed.
But, if they are not targeting someone in free agency, that doesn’t mean they are not targeting a non-free agent.
Lots of time for Jason to do stuff.

I wouldn’t call that ‘wasted’.
Dead money is part of the overall process.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:45 am
Depends what they are asking for him. Also, what is the reason Philadelphia would let go a guy with 4 double-digit sack seasons? In a trade no less, not a free agent they couldn’t sign. They want him out. Why?
Philadelphia was a sick dysfunctional team by the end of last year, there may be something to read between the lines here.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:47 am
Joe Says:

March 20th, 2024 at 8:52 am
So. Much. Whining.
March 20th, 2024 at 8:55 am
You have to have a willing trade partner, right? What motivation do the Eagles have in trading a player to an NFC rival that just beat them down on national television, during a playoff game?
Maybe Philadelphia has no intention helping the Bucs defense get even better?
March 20th, 2024 at 8:57 am
Joe’s head will explode when he is traded somewhere else.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:00 am
I absolutely want to see the Bucs sign more sack talent. But.
The “but” is a reality check: the Bucs have a 4.5 sack deficit (a 7.5 sacks-in-two-years deficit) not a 19.5 sack deficit. I love Shaq Barrett all the way back to life in Denver as a Broncos fan before moving here but he was not scaring anyone last year. Getting back to last year’s level is entirely doable with what remains in FA, the draft and with UFA pool after the draft.
Of course, the goal is not just to get back to last year’s baseline but better it. And I think that is possible, too, just replacing what we lost with 2023 Barrett. Why? Because it looks to me like our secondary is going to be better, maybe even a lot better. The pressure that creates sacks is like squeezing a tube of toothpast: you can squeeze the end or the middle and still get paste out of the tube. We had the problem last year of no pressure on front or back; not enough EDGE, not enough DL, not enough secondary (and Devin White was a liability in coverage). I propose that getting to last year’s baseline on sack numbers talent wise at EDGE + the better secondary with Whitehead back in the fold + plus second year growth in Diaby and Kancey will raise our sack and pressure stats. Hell, I think Whitehead is capable of boosting Winfield’s sack numbers and netting a few himself. I’m that stoked that Whitehead is back.
Maybe I’m a Pollyanna but I don’t necessarily believe we have to go all-in on an EDGE to be better at putting sadface emojis on QB social media posts.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:01 am
Can’t afford him, besides we have JTS. Jason and Todd have 100% faith that he along with Hall will both get double digit sacks this year. No need for an expensive over the hill guy like Reddick. 😂
March 20th, 2024 at 9:03 am
I’ve heard Reddick wants a new contract, that might be the hold up.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:05 am
What does Tampa Bay have that the Eagles want and Tampa is willing to give up.
It is always Cap Space with you guys. Every team in the league has the same issue.
I would like for you keyboard GM’s draft a trade that makes sense for both teams. I will be waiting. Not so easy.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:06 am
Stupid!!!
If he fits the cap and the price is fair, pull the trigger.
THE BUCS ARE NOT GOING TO GET A TOP TIER EDGE IN THE DRAFT!!!!
ITS NOT THAT DEEP.
and the team has pressing needs for the first two picks.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:07 am
Looks like my comment got deleted for whatever reason….
March 20th, 2024 at 9:13 am
Bucs defense were more the reason for wins and being in games than they weren’t. Folks can point to maybe the HOU game as an exception but even in the Divisional Game vs. the Lions the Defense got them the ball back with over 2 minutes left and Offense awarded them with a two play 5 yard drive. Perhaps they should have had an Edge Guy throwing the ball in that Drive. Surely couldn’t have done any worse.
Perhaps statisticians should give defensive backs a piece of the Sack Pie when the reason for the sack was coverage or just give the Edge Guy .25 sacks instead of the whole Enchilada. Get a more accurate total. Reddick’s totals the last 4 years could have been 5-6 if he wasn’t given credit for other men’s work. QB’s get credit for a TD even when he throws a crappy pass and the WR makes a great catch.
Perhaps Licht wanted to limit the Pr!cks to one Offensive and one Defensive.
Ask nicely because limiting access is too big of a cost of knowing why.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:16 am
The two C’s: Cap and Character
March 20th, 2024 at 9:21 am
Certainly is reminiscent of Jensen blowing out his knee and the 6th rated Center in the league JC Tretter was available for a song , but Licht sat on his hands. Sometimes you just never get a straight answer to an obvious question…..
March 20th, 2024 at 9:36 am
If we find a good edge in the draft, will save a good $75 million through the years he’s on a rookie contract. You sign a high priced vet, his. contract starts out at the high price.
That said, the success rate on drafting pass rushers seems to be about the same as first round QB’s, about 40%
March 20th, 2024 at 9:53 am
Draft is where we get this done Joe. And Hassan is not happy with eagles wanti r to cut his salary. He wants $20 million, he will probably wind up in Atlanta.
March 20th, 2024 at 9:55 am
maybe, just maybe, the Bucs don’t want a massive headache like the one we just dumped that ironically landed in Philly. you know who doesn’t get sacks? spoiled players who think they are worth more than they are and hold out and dont play and demand trades.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:01 am
Beat that horse Joe! He’s dead – but keep going…..
March 20th, 2024 at 10:32 am
Joe needs to get back on his meds.
Did you really think the Bucs would be pursuing this? Really? If you were, you’re just delusional. Seems more like a reason to b!tch and moan. There’s 4 months left until training camp. There’s time to figure it out.
Here’s the thing that Joe refuses to acknowledge: they are not in the mode of spending on big money external acquisitions. They have put a lot into signing back their own. Reddick is 30+, has only one year left on a contract paying him 15 million. So, if you make that trade, you have to sign him to an extension at probably 20+ million, which is always a huge risk.
They’re getting younger and trying to reign the cap situation back in.
How does this not compute with Joe? We’re not going there. Period. I never thought they were. Take your pills man.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:36 am
Everyone who says “Trust in Licht” must be forgetting that he is the one who drafted JTS.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:38 am
Everything Edge related depends on 2nd/3rd tier scrap heap finds left in FA or the draft.
Riddick wants a new contract @ $20M+ per yr as part of any trade…& I just can’t see the FO prioritizing him w/ Wirfs & Winfield next on the big money contract track.
I’m still hoping the FO goes & gets Bud Dupree on a 1yr low dollar deal ($3m base-$4.5M with incentives)…He may be 31, but has some life left in his pass rush capabilities. Would expect ~7 sacks & at low coin.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:44 am
I believe Licht is waiting for the second wave of FA. Getting an edge guy cheaper, like he did with Shaq Barrett. He wasn’t a first week signee if I recall correctly. Got him on a prove it deal and he never had double digit sacks before coming to the Bucs. Start scouting 2nd tier guys if you think about getting an edge rusher the Bucs can afford. If not then it’s thru the draft.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:44 am
I saw another article somehwere on why we would likely not be interested. Main points were:
1) His age is not ideal for the contract he wants. It didn’t work out for us when we extended Shaq at a similar point in career
2) He did nothing vs the Bucs last year (1 tackle between both games and none behind the LOS). So in terms of an actual impression he left against us on the field it wasn’t great.
My personal thoughts come down to the cost. If we could have him for a 4th or 5th round pick then do it now and make the $$ work. And still draft edge R1 or R2 to replace him if his game falls off.
If they want at least a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I think we are better off sending those picks to move up R1 and get a guy like Jared Verse. Way cheaper and more likely better production the next few years if not the next decade.
He’s going to be 30 next season. He relies on elite athletic traits more so than power / length/ technique. Those types of edge rushers typically don’t stay as effective into their early 30s but we will see.
March 20th, 2024 at 10:58 am
Aren’t they choosing sweat over him? There’s a reason he’s available. It’s never just about the money
March 20th, 2024 at 11:33 am
Probably going to draft one — Tryons contract is basically over. Even if he has 17 sacks this year, he’s going to be a weird resign because of the inconsistency.
March 20th, 2024 at 11:39 am
Todd Bowles does not utilize DEs like the rest of the NFL does. His preferred players have to be multifaceted so he can hide his schemes. Reddick is on the wrong side of 30 and likely cannot play coverage. This should not be a surprise to anyone.
March 20th, 2024 at 11:40 am
What do we have to give up to get Reddick? How much will the cap hit be? Do we have the cap room?
March 20th, 2024 at 11:46 am
Joe…there’s been many reasons given to you in the comments.
One reason is he costs too much money.
March 20th, 2024 at 11:47 am
Because 25 million per year for a 30 year old, 11 sack guy is too much and when combined with our other big salaries it would put us in cap hell.
March 20th, 2024 at 11:49 am
Eagles picking up all these LB’s because they are apparently shifting to a 3-4 defense, may change the way they view the guy whose name starts with an R
March 20th, 2024 at 11:52 am
Good. Now, maybe we all FINALLY, can just move on. We don’t need to be paying about $100MIL+ (and giving up assets) for a 30-year old LB/EDGE on a team that is NOT a legit “Super Bowl Contender.” That would definitely be an ‘ALL-IN’ type of move, & we are still in ‘building’ (toward the future), developing, & evaluating our roster mode… It HAS TO BE on Baker & Bowels to deliver. There’re enough ‘pieces’ there to win THIS Division, and to at least, be able to compete in THIS Conference. Let’s just see what happens with all that FIRST, before making any desperate, risky moves. We have a season or two, to FULLY evaluate the both of them. I predicted 11-6 last season (if ‘healthy’ and we were) with a First Round Home ‘Playoffs’ WIN (albeit I had them beating the ‘Boys instead of the Eagles)… IF, Bowels had improved on ‘clock management’ with using his timeouts, etc. at the end of games, & with a huge emphasis on the IMPORTANCE of (being aggressive, etc.) the “Middle-8” of ballgames. I thought SURELY, after a full year of being a HC mixed with a ‘New-Aged’ OC would be a big help… Well, not really. That really didn’t happen. But, we still managed to scrape-out a 9-8 record (which is what I thought it would much more realistically, be). So, I believe that I am a pretty ‘optimistic’ (and realistic) fan!!!! But, as of right now, though I think we’ll be a little better, I’m feelin’ 8-9… Which means, it can very easily be 6-11. It’s all up to Baker & Bowels to PROVE ‘who’ they truly are. Now, let’s go get Baker “JPJ” at Center and let him roll… Give him the best chance possible, where there are NO excuses.
March 20th, 2024 at 11:59 am
Whos the other two teams?
Saints and Panthers.
Jason Licht ids a fantastic GM, but like all of us, he has strengths and weaknesses
Weaknesses?
Pass rush and rushing offense
We gotta be better at both this year. I DO NOT wanna watch the Falcons or the slimy saints in the playoffs.
We arent a strong team .
But with 3-4 good players, we could be.
And for those of you fixating on the draft. The draft brings in good players for the future. RARELY any help as rookies. Even if they do contribute in some category, they are a liability in others.
We signed our own. Weve added Jordan Whitehead. We’ve added improved depth.
We are set at CB,Safety, QB, WR, DT, OT.
We are OK at TE and Lb.
WE NEED STARTERS AT DE, OLB( both pass rush).
WE NEED STARTERS AT GUARD ( possibly both) AND CENTER.
We havent addressed starters at any of those positions.
Why resign our guys- just to let them watch the 29th rated pass defense, and 32nd rated run offense give up the farm?
March 20th, 2024 at 12:10 pm
Very glad the MAGAjoe is not our GM
March 20th, 2024 at 12:16 pm
You are correct Joe, this team isn’t serious about winning, that’s why they gifted Maybefield $100 mil only for hope, wishes and dreams!
March 20th, 2024 at 12:31 pm
Top 3 Edge will probably be gone between picks 8-15. Probably too much for the Bucs to trade up.
Top 8 Edge will be gone by pick 40. Bucs are looking at #4 to 6 if they sit at pick #26. That leaves 2 x PSU, 1 x Missouri. 1 x Alabama and 1 x Western Michigan. Maybe trade back a few positions and then grab one of the remaining Edge listed above and an extra 3rd pick or swap the other team’s 2nd rd pick for one of the Bucs 3rd rd picks.
March 20th, 2024 at 12:32 pm
@K_bassuka
I agree they overpaid for Baker Mayfield because he didn’t really do great last year. But I do think he was worth bringing back. I personally would have preferred $15-25m per year.
March 20th, 2024 at 12:33 pm
BakerFan … ‘It is always Cap Space with you guys. Every team in the league has the same issue. I would like for you keyboard GM’s draft a trade that makes sense for both teams.’
Is ‘You guys’ supposed to be anyone who believes that the salary CAP is real & sets a real limit on what teams can or can’t do? Or is it supposed to mean anyone who doesn’t worship Baker Mayfield? Or is it just limited to who you apparently feel are ‘keyboard GMs’?
Joe can yell & scream & whine all day long for the Bucs to sign Reddick, but until Reddick becoming a Buc makes sense to Licht & Bowles it ain’t gonna happen. MAYBE it would’ve made sense to the Bucs money-wise IF JL had been able to re-sign Baker for say $15 mil a year, but not when he had to pay him close to $35 mil a year (the difference is what Reddick HOPES to get BTW from a new contract … with whomever).
Or MAYBE it’s just that Bowles doesn’t feel that Reddick would ‘fit’ into the Bucs’ defensive plans for 2024? Reddick (6’1″ & 240 lbs) is barely any bigger than Devin White (6′ & 237 lbs). MAYBE the Eagles intend to use White in a similar way that they used Reddick? Just because a smallish DE/OLB like Reddick does well in one scheme (Philly uses a 4-3) doesn’t mean that he’ll thrive in another (like our 3-4 hybrid?). I trust that Todd Bowles (and George Edwards) know pretty much what they’re looking for from our OLBs/DEs.

Even if Diaby turns out to be everything we hope for, we STILL need another monster on the opposite side of the line from him to keep offenses from scheming for YaYa or our pass rush won’t improve as much as it needs to.

Good. Too old, too expensive

Last thing we need is Reddick getting traded to the Dixie chicks smh

Licht won’t trade for or sign NFL mercenaries anymore.

We’ve got a bad history with DEs… We just don’t seem to care about accruing good talent there through free agency, ever since we knocked it out of the park with the Simeon Rice signing. It’s weird

How in the world does a player without pass rushing skills start in the NFL? How has JTS been able to play out his rookie contract with such a below mediocre level of play. There will be salary cap cuts that the Bucs can use in rotation and get more out of the defensive line than they can with JTS. Wait and see, there will be someone out there that will improve their pass rush. Don’t know who yet, but as lousy as that guy has been, there has to be some backups that are hungry for better contracts that would love to take JTS’ position or Barrett’s spot.

He’s not worth more than $8 million/ year at this point in his career.
He doesn’t make alot of tackles, but he does put pressure on QB’s with inferior OLines.
Bucs are a stop the run D first and Reddick doesn’t fit

Defense Rules Says:
March 20th, 2024 at 12:Is ‘You guys’ supposed to be anyone who believes that the salary CAP is real & sets a real limit on what teams can or can’t do? Or is it supposed to mean anyone who doesn’t worship Baker Mayfield? Or is it just limited to who you apparently feel are ‘keyboard GMs’?
…….
It is for you “know it alls” that make ridiculous comments on this blog. The cap never really stops a lot of teams, but the makeup of the fan base on this board thinks it is a death sentence.
The other thing is you brought nothing, who are you willing to ship off or draft picks are you willing to give up for an edge. Every one has all these suggestions but they are really just pie in the sky. NOBODY brought a legitimate trade scenario. It doesn’t have to be Reddick. So yes the keyboard GM’s prove what they are once again

I’m not sure if this has anything to do w/ it but remember who drafted Reddick to the NFL. It was Bruce Arians & Bowles making Reddick a 1st round pick. He didn’t exactly play well under Bowles tho a rookie. Bowles leaves the next yr & Arians still there. Reddick doesn’t really anything till Arians leave the Cardinals. So maybe both sides just aren’t interested in reuniting.
