The Bucs And Doug Marrone

Joe doesn’t know what the Bucs and new offensive coordinator Liam Coen might do when it comes to hiring an offensive line coach or coaches, but Joe is intrigued by at least one name on the market.
That man is former Bills, Jaguars and Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone, who also has been an offensive line coach with several college teams and the Titans, Jets, Saints (twice) and the Jaguars.
Marrone was just launched by the Saints after two seasons there. Previously, he coached the Saints’ line under former head coach Sean Payton.
Marrone, 59, is a classy super-passionate dude known for being a hardass position coach. Given his age and experience, Joe suspects Todd Bowles respects him and would bond with him, and he might be a good fit with the younger, high-energy Coen. Marrone called plays in the NFL and would bring a load of perspective for a young coordinator.
As it relates to bonding with Bowles, Marrone was known for leaning conservative on offense.
He famously played it safe with his 2017 Jaguars holding a 14-10 lead heading into halftime against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. Marrone took a knee with 55 seconds remaining and two timeouts.
Marrone’s Jaguars lost to Tom Brady and the Belicheats 24-20.

OL hire was one of my early question. Would Coen want to bring in his own OL coaches since the Bucs need 1or2 There was 1 article where they were talking about the OL coach at Kentucky. It was stated that he was a pretty good OL coach and they had the same question I am asking would Coen bring him to Tampa

He’d be a strong addition to the staff, but I think they’ll be looking for some O-line coaches with experience in the schemes in that have come out of the McVay system. Does Marrone’s background suit these schemes? I don’t know.
I read something about an assistant O-line coach, Zak Kromer, in LA who has been there awhile who might be ready for a step up. Also suggested was the Kentucky O-line coach who was in SF as assistant O-line coach from 2019-22, Zach Yenser. Those connections sound pretty solid and believable. They’ve worked with Coen and have background in McVay and Shanahan systems. Works for me,
The O-line coach hires will be interesting. Hoping to see that happen this week.

Please hire a coach that can teach Mauch and Hainsey to not get runned over, maybe get some push, maybe run block, maybe Goedonkey can be taught not to be a matador.
Marine sounds fine. He’s not a bullfighter.

It sounded good but taking a knee just doesn’t cut it. A football game is like chess and war, if you back down you freaking loss. BS in my opinion. Fight Till Death or nothing.

It doesn’t matter who the O-Line coach is here, he will always have his hands full as long as Jason Licht keeps drafting college OT’s to come to the NFL to play Center and Guard.

A lot would depend on Marrone’s personality and reputation. All of that experience he has could be viewed as a threat to those above him.

Yes, just what we need. Another coach on this staff that plays scared, overly-conservative and believes in running the ball 70% of the time. If you’re not playing 1983 ball, you’re going backwards!

That makes sense. One thing I like about them is their youth. They are all trending upward. Hainsey catches a lot of sh!T but I think any young player would look bad in the shadow of Jensen

Funny how Eric Bieniemy was once argued to be a HC but Andy Reid called plays..
Went to Washington and they underwhelmed.. Now he is available…
wonder how good he would be on Bucs offensive staff…

Eric Bienemy could take Goodwins place assistant head coach/running back coordinator he was a good running back he could definitely help in that regard.

Jensen would be good to coach the offensive line.
He isn’t the biggest guy or the most athletic but he’s scrappy.
He played with a take-no-prisoners attitude and played much larger than his size.

Yep, cool if Jensen would be good as Bucs o-line coach. Respect him for hanging there with the team, after his injury – says a lot.
