Todd Bowles Needs To Apologize

Joe can’t sit back and take it when fans are being conned by the Buccaneers. It’s not ok. It’s never ok.
The Bucs claiming they couldn’t let fans without season tickets into 90 percent of training camp practices comes to mind — while nearly every NFL team had a majority of their practices “open” to the public.
Well, fans were disrespected again yesterday, this time by head coach Todd Bowles, and it’s unacceptable.
He should apologize.
Back in October, the Bucs had a Thursday night game in Buffalo. They trailed by six points, 24-18, with 31 seconds remaining. After a Bills punt, the Bucs got the ball at their 20 yard line with 21 seconds on the clock and no timeouts.
Four plays later (plus a five-yard penalty on the Bills) Baker Mayfield threw a Hail Mary that bounced in the end zone. Chris Godwin was right at the spot and open, but he turned to the ball a quarter-second too late. Tight end Cade Otton was interfered with badly on the play at the 1 yard line and no penalty was called.
The Bucs fought to the finish and the coaching staff was proud. That Hail Mary was talked about on national sports talk shows all throughout the following day.
Sound familiar?
In Sunday’s playoff game against the Bucs, the Lions took a knee on 3rd-and-12 at the Tampa Bay 32 yard line with 36 seconds remaining — and the Bucs had a timeout in their pocket trailing 31-23.
Bowles didn’t call timeout to force the Lions to attempt a 49 or 50 yard field goal on fourth down — or a punt, or a quarterback scramble/throwaway to kill time off the clock.
Bowles told media Sunday immediately after the game that there was “no sense in prolonging the obvious,” and he referenced the Lions potentially lining up for a field goal. Ok, it was a very emotional time and Bowles hadn’t yet watched the film. Perhaps he didn’t realize the Bucs quit on the game when the outcome was still in doubt?
On Monday, after Bowles had time to digest the film and review Sunday’s end-of-game situation, he had a similar nonsense answer for fans and media when asked about failing to call timeout.
“They were in field goal range,” Bowles said of the Lions kneeling on third down at their 32 yard line. “We’d have had 12 seconds, calculated, after using that timeout to come back from it. Then we’d have been down 11 points, so it’s kind of pointless. You kind of know when the game is over. The game was over.”
First, there was no guarantee that the Lions would have made a field goal — or attempted a field goal — as Bowles laid out in that response.
Lions kicker Michael Badgley is not a long-range kicker. For his career, Badgley is 42-of-61 (.688 percent) on field goal tries of 40 yards or more.
If Badgley missed a field goal attempt with :36 second remaining, the Bucs would have had the ball at their 40 yard line with about 26 seconds remaining. (See Buffalo game above.)
If the Lions punted high and out of the end zone, the Bucs would have had the ball at their 20 yard line with about 26 seconds remaining. (See Buffalo game above.)
The game was not over. Bowles quit. Ironically, offensive coordinator Dave Canales has praised Baker Mayfield multiple times saying, “He has no quit.”
Joe is 100 percent confident if Bowles asked Mayfield, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin or Lavonte David if the team should call timeout and exhaust all opportunities to win, each would have screamed, “timeout!”
Again, Joe understands Bowles making a clock management mistake in an emotional moment, one that came after the Lions themselves lost track of time and took their three consecutive kneel-downs too quickly. But do not start BSing fans about what happened.
The game wasn’t over.
And if that scenario arises on opening day next season, that game won’t be over, either.

This season felt good, but this was the pinacle of the Bowles / Baker era. That was hor$e$it at the end of the game and for him to give that answer was worse! How could he do and say that??? This roster was talented and we play in an absolutely horrible division and still needed a penalty and fumble into the endzone to beat the 2-14 Panthers to get into the playoffs. That was the top folks and its a damn shame.

I’m thinking it was a gentleman’s agreement between he and Dan Campbell because I saw the Lions didn’t run the play clock all the way down either before they snapped it on second and third down. There was only 1:33 left when we threw the pick and the Bucs had 1 timeout so they theoretically wouldn’t have got
The ball back had Detroit used up the full 45 second play clock on both snaps.

Bowles is notoriously bad in end of game/half situations. Horrible clock management and decision making when the pressure is on. He regularly finishes games and halves with one or multiple time outs. Its just part of the reason why people don’t think he’s a great head coach.
He did do a good job this year of getting the Bucs a division title and a playoff win though and definitely deserves at least another year to grow.
You would just hope that at this point he would still be able to learn, but IDK.

This is the problem with the analytics in football, if you embrace it half way you get half arsed results. Not a fan of analytics as I think it does not account for the feel of the game. That 2 point play was dumb and let some wind out of the sails. Same here, use the TOs correctly, there is no reward for keeping a TO after the game, keep fighting, pretty sure there are 60 minutes in every football game not counting overtime

I take Joe’s point but as far as “attitude” but the game was OVER!!! As someone pointed out IF Bowles made a mistake so did Campbell for not running the clock all the way down.

Lions got the ball with 1:33 left. If Bucs were going to forgo the inevitable they would have called timeout after the first knee @ 1:31. Then the Lions would have used the entire play clock and sucked 1:20 out and kicked it out of bounds at the 10 with about 8 seconds. Bucs would have had 8 seconds to go the length of the field with no time outs unless the Lions gave the ball to Gibbs and let him run around behind the line of scrimmage and the game would have been over.
Bucs couldn’t catch him all day and he would not have run out of the end zone and made the score 31-25.
So if there are Joe’s that are butt hurt that Bucs didn’t cover. TFB

Typical Bowles weak and scared mindset. Goff dropping 137yds on his vaunted D just in the 4th qtr is another example. And Joe, it wasn’t the BUCS that “quit on the game when the outcome was still in doubt”, it was their HC and “leader”. The players had no say in the matter and no choice but to sit and watch their weak-ass coach swallow the L like he has for more than half his career. Dude can’t be gone soon enough. Sad how far the expectations of the organization and fan base have fallen that so many just overlook or accept his many shortcomings.

Baker Mayfield had the ball in his hands with 1:39 left in the game when he threw an interception. It was a terrible throw and a very poor decision at that point in the ball game. And yet no one every said a word about THAT.
Why don’t you write another article Joe telling Baker that he needs to apologize?
Or maybe you should write yet another article about Zion allowing 3 completions for 60 yards in that 4th quarter drive that put the Lions 2 TDs ahead.
I’m sure you could write other articles for everything that went on in that game that y’all disagree with. It was a TEAM loss and no one needs to apologize. The phrase ‘grasping at straws’ comes to mind.
Pffft. Mayfield was public about his mistake. It’s also on his stat sheet. Zyon knows he wasn’t up to the challenge Sunday and will try harder next time. Lions coach Dan Campbell was public about his clock screwup. Bowles got to sleep on his decision/mistake and wants fans to know he did the right thing. Not comparable to the players.–Joe

That is why I still have little confidence in Bowles. I think the Glazers might feel this way too. For every great game, there are 2-3 bad ones and 2-3 mediocre ones. For every great game plan (offense and defense), there are 2-3 bad ones and 2-3 average ones. I don’t see consistency. I don’t see steady, incremental improvement. I see sporadic greatness surrounded by episodes of ridiculous ineptitude, lack of fire, and poor game management.
I would not be at all surprised if Bowles was canned and we got Billichek or Harbaugh as our next coach. I’m NOT saying that’s what I think they should do, I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised.

My biggest compl;aint about the Lions game was that our defense surrendered 31 points and didn’t force any turnovers. Not exactly championship football. We applied very little pressure and Goff was able to dissect our defense. If the blitz is what got you there then keep doing it. I don’t care if this QB happens to be good against it. Be aggressive and force them to make plays under pressure. It wouldn’t bother me if the Bucs let go of Bowles and promoted Canales to HC

This is one of the biggest issue I have with TB! He calculates probably outcomes at key times of games. Probable is just that. A high possibility, not a DEFINITE! He quits when there is time on the clock. At half time and at the end of games. This sets a bad example for the players! A bad example coming from the very top of the food chain!

No it was not over in Buffalo and it was not a Dan Campbell mistake. His decision was based on Bowles not calling time out after 1st down. Although do you think there would have been a PI called on a Hail Mary in Detroit if the Bucs had gotten the ball?
Have to say that baiting a coach by not calling time out would have been smart
it also may have changed the game and how that last minute and change is played in the future. Some coaches might just do that. Most likely the Saints.
Glad this Joe was a realist and had them losing by 13 but I really have no interest in Ira though he must be pretty good to be featured.

God, it must suck being a head coach in the NFL and having to answer to all the internet coaches.
But while we’re at it, can we get Bruce Arians to apologize for purposely backing up the kicker for what was supposed to be the game winner in whatever game that was years ago.
Arians made a strange but calculated decision in an effort to make his kicker more comfortable based on his past peformances. Bowles told fans — and his players — the game was over when it wasn’t. Massive difference. –Joe

What up with this damn time out, Bowles need to apologize to the fans crap. If anything Bowles should apologize for his defense giving up 24 points in the second half. The refs should apologize for missing a couple of calls I don’t understand fight to the end We had a decent chance Mayfield threw the interception. I thought they fought to the end. Yeah he keeps giving the same “12 second answer” because he incorrectly assumed the Lions would do things the right way. They didn’t and he wasn’t paying attention. Admitting that would be admitting he didn’t fight to the end. I remember watching golf take a knee on third down and thinking why are we not taking your time out and then assuming I was missing something because obviously we wouldn’t be quitting on a playoff game. I was wrong. I went from being proud of our team to being disgusted at the level of mediocrity we are OK with. Would Mahomes and read just let the clock run out and be “classy losers”? Fire him and get Vrabel. Bowles is a very good DC but these mistakes in crucial times with clock management and timeouts are what defines him as a head coach. And talk about mediocrity, they showed his record as a head coach before the game and his record in the playoffs as a head coach. His overall record with 17-17 and his playoff record was 1-1 (Now 17-18 & 1-2). Mediocrity personified. But of course the fire him next year when Mike Vrabel, Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh aren’t available. He was so willing to take an L on the whole season, swallow your pride and take the L because you weren’t paying attention. Same old Bucs

We need to promote Canales and bring back Arians as a consultant to him and find a DC( Derreck Brooks, sorry I was dreaming). Todd is a terrible coach. Probably the most hated coach in the NFL by his own fan base. Every year he’s going to be on the hot seat until he’s gone. He makes poor call after Poor call after Poor call all year long.

Todd Bowles never admits when he makes mistakes, this is far from the first clock management issue of his that lost us the game. I think he is a decent DC but nothing more. Canales worked surprisingly well/ok with the offense. I have hope for offense future. Glazers dodged a bullet on this. No doubt they do not want to fire Bowles unless it is it is very clear the Bucs have declined which they did not. Todd Bowles needs to stay in his lane and get someone else more qualified to handle game time duties of clock management.

Go back to when Arians called him and told him he needed to come back to Tampa he was the new Head Coach. He told him he was at a basketball game and come.

I believe Bowle’s opting for 2 and accepting defeat were 2 decisions instrumental in our loss.
A third terrible decision was not benching JTS. Case in point: the vid you posted, Joe, of JTS making a business decision to avoid the block by Sewell, in which he did NOT seal the edge, was why Dean got blasted downfield by Sewell. Did Dean get hurt on that play? Not sure, but Dean didn’t finish the game…coincidence?
So Bowles made a poor decision to play JTS yet again, JTS may have gotten Dean hurt, and after Dean went out, just how good did our secondary play?
These poor decisions have a domino effect. Net effect was a playoff loss.
The hard thing for me is: We COULD have won with just a few better decisions!!

The BEST outcome if everything aligned perfectly was a tie. For a tie to take place a Touchdown needed to be scored and then a Two Point conversion. To risk the health of all players for an outcome that was not likely is understandable.

He’s got $30 million in two CBs that can’t make a play, 5 1st/2nd rd picks invested in the front seven that can’t get a lick of pressure, his prized LB went from star potential to being let go….Bowles is supposed to great at defense yet all we really do is blitz and pray.

Not Calling time out after first down seems like the correct explanation. Campbell honored that move by kneeling down early in the count. Honor among the fraternity of coaches ( and former coach mates in Miami) seems to explain what happened. We outsiders might disagree, but “game respects game”.

Joe are you serious? This is a non-issue. The Bucs fought bravely against a superior opponent and lost. The game was over. Bowles didn’t quit and the team didn’t quit. The fact that you guys are still asking him about this and writing about it is ridiculous. Why can’t we just move on and focus on how we can get a team that won’t need a miracle to tie a game against Goff in the playoffs?
Now what Bowles does need to apologize for is having a crap defense that all the good OCs in the NFL have solved and that gets shredded by good QBs.

This is the only explanation that makes any sense to me.
Optics is more important for a coach who was on the “hot seat” most of the season.

This team was moderately successful DESPITE Bowles, not because of him.
I know all the true believers want him back but rational fans know that 2024 will be a repeat of the last two seasons – except the NFC South will be tougher to win with a 9-8 record.
If Canales leaves, it could be significantly worse.

No one can say with any certainty what would (or would not have happened) if the Bucs had called their last timeout. But the fact that’s even being discussed (AGAIN) indicates that Licht&Co would be well-advised to look into some kind of clock management coach/consultant to help this staff out in these situations. Their clock management is borderline criminal.

Good coaches take advantage of mistakes. That was Campbells mistake in clock management, he left the door cracked for a miracle play….and Bowles politely closed it for him. You play til the clock reads 0:00. That timeout does not carry over into next season.

He’s not a good head coach! It’s pretty simple. Been an issue with him his entire career. Fwiw BA wasn’t exactly the best clock manager either – it’s a pattern.

I appreciate you bringing this up. I had some concerns too, and I wondered if I might have been overreacting. I’ve always acknowledged that Bowles is a very intelligent and knowledgeable coach, as well as a good guy whom you’d naturally want to support. However, I’ve always had this lingering feeling that something essential might be missing.
For me, I could understand if he openly addressed the reasons you mentioned. But if his statement reflects his true beliefs, it raises a significant question. Can the Glazers truly continue with him if this is indeed his mindset?
It seems like he has a defeatist mentality, while there are coaches out there who would fight tooth and nail for that one last play, disregarding the 37 seconds and rallying for at least three or four more opportunities.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this. If it’s accurate, how do they move forward from here?

I’ve been griping about his lack of timeout usage all year.
This was coaching malpractice and I firmly catalogue as a “loaf” by the coach. Inexcusable.
Furthermore, he did this same crap last year and played for OT in a game. Guess who got hurt in PT bc Todd didn’t want to use timeouts and let Brady cook with under a minute. Both Wirfs and AWJr got hurt bc coach is scared.
He needs to improve this aspect of his game immediately and I agree he should apologize.
This would be like Dave Roberts not hustling on the SB attempt against the Yankees in game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. Was it likely the Red Sox were going to win, no? But did they give up and just take a loss, no. They fought and won an unbelievable series.
Point is, Todd Bowles you need to be better at timeouts and not mentally “loafing” during a playoff game. Shoot, get me on speed dial and I’ll call timeouts for you.

Gentleman’s agreement is horseshoe!t. Told dishonored the game by not trying, strategically at all costs to win the game. What if the lions botched the FG snap and we recovered for a “w”? Let Em Bake … ‘Not Calling time out after first down seems like the correct explanation. Campbell honored that move by kneeling down early in the count. Honor among the fraternity of coaches ( and former coach mates in Miami) seems to explain what happened. We outsiders might disagree, but “game respects game”.
Had Todd Bowles used his last time-out at the beginning of that Lions’ drive as I would’ve anticipated, then Dan Campbell would’ve surely made different play calls instead of taking the knee, and could’ve easily run out the remainder of the clock (sure I know, somebody might’ve fumbled; ya right). I suspect that’s what Todd Bowles really meant when he said ‘The game was over’.
As you said Let Em Bake … ‘game respects game’. It’s a shame that so many JBFers apparently don’t. Or maybe it’s just that they’re so intent on hating on Bowles that they grasp at straws to prove how ‘right’ they are. Hate on him all you want (and I’m sure most will), but the 325 points allowed by HIS defense this year … 19.1 PPG average … was the lowest per game Points Allowed that we’ve had since Monte Kiffin’s 2007 defense. It may not have been pretty, but it was damned effective considering what he had to work with.

Rod, He didn’t “celebrate”. He, like Canales, saw subtle things in that game that showed them that they could be a good team, and the record proves that out. Mauch had a great growth game against a stud rusher. But for two td drops ( Thompkins and Otton), the redzone offense began to show life. You don’t begin a season with a finished product. I imagine the Packers board has similar takes to this one, ” Matt celebrated the turn around after being 6-8, what a loser!!” smh….

The game was 99% over, but not 100%. If we used the timeout we would’ve forced them to snap the ball and most likely execute a FG. A lot can go wrong on that and give us a very slight chance. Anyone disagreeing with this is factually wrong as hell and “morally ok” with losing. We are what our record says we are- stinky and eliminated.

I can handle losing the right way, all out. Not saying go full Schiano and charge a kneel down, but for chrissakes you run out your ground balls and make the defender havee to catch + throw+ make another catch to win the game. It’s that simple. Anything less is a weak ass effort and I point back to last year when he didn’t let TB12 go for it in the final minutes and both our best players got hurt after that. I can’t help but think about the Bucs loss to the Texans this season. The Texans had around 40 seconds to go the length of the field to score the go-ahead touchdown…and they did! Good thing their coach didn’t take a knee to run the clock out. The circumstances on Sunday were a little different, but if Bowles had taken that time out, he would have put the Bucs in a position to at least try to win the game. If Detroit had missed the field goal, that would have actually given the Bucs decent field position to start a drive. Anyway, at this point, all we have now are counterfactuals debate.
My issue with Bowles is that he just doesn’t play to win. I have no doubt that Bowles will be back next season. He probably deserves that after exceeding expectations. Nonetheless, his ceiling as a coach is limited and the Bucs will wallow in mediocrity as long as Bowles remains coach.
To Joe’s point about the apology, I think Bowles needs to stop insulting our intelligence with his blatantly disingenuous coach speak. We all have eyes; we know that happened. Telling us something different is dishonest.

Ask yourself this: If the teams / roles were reversed, and the Bucs had the ball with 36 seconds left and it was 4th down, do you think Dan Campbell would have wasted even 1 second before calling his final timeout and forcing the Bucs to give them the ball back? OF COURSE NOT!

If you want to b*tch about something…tell me the 2 point conversion is not pass interference again. If that play happens on the 20 or 30 yard line, the refs will call that pass interference every time. The D Back was not playing the ball, his back was to the pass and he was physically preventing Evans from making a fair attempt to catch the ball, even though Evans almost 1 handed it against the Dback’s butt.

Bowles had my respect for about a week and he will never get it back again. He quit on his team. Period. I can’t imagine the players didn’t feel the same way. Bowles needs to admit he had no idea he had the timeout or admit he quit on his team. Either way it’s fireable. His clock management is awful and this isn’t the first time. He gives up on his team at the end of the first half regularly. What other team runs the clock out with a minute and a half left in the first half in a close game. It’s insulting to Mayfield, Evans, and the defense who bust their behinds to give them the ball.

If the Lions were ruthless then they could have ran the clock down to 13 seconds and kicked a field goal. But they showed us mercy and ended the game with a one score victory. I cancelled my season tickets because of this. Todd Bowles is a loser. Always has been. He should’ve been fired after the NFCCG with Brady a few years ago. His players like and respect him but he doesn’t bring the juice. BA was liked/loved/hated/feared everywhere he went because he would stick his boot up your butt for screwing up and that’s why he took us to the SB.

Getting blown out by 13 points is hardly something they should have been positive about. Would Arians have been talking about how good the team felt after the game? Would Brady have talked about a 13-point loss as not being that bad?
I understand what you’re saying, and I strongly disagree with it. While there was a drop, the 49ers also dropped, what, at least 4 easy INTs in that game?
I don’t think there was much to build off from that game, they got their rears handed to them. It’s disturbing to hear them talk about it as if it was anything more than an ass kicking.
I understand not everyone feels that way, but I greatly dislike the participation trophy mindset, and to me, it feels like that was the mindset, that they felt like they should get credit for beating a 14 point spread by 1 point.

I honestly don’t think his mind or heart was in it, especially in the 4th quarter. Surprised he went for the 2 point conversion, but didn’t go for it on a couple of 4th and short instead of punting it. Hell, it’s not like the defense was really stopping Goff, so at least it would’ve let them sore faster leaving more time for Baker to bake instead of letting them waste 6 or 8 minutes on drives. Clearly doesn’t know when to hold ’em or fold ’em.

No what happened was this:
On the FIRST INTERCEPTION they brought a ball in from the outside after they rolled it around in the snow & then it was wet & THAT’S WHY IT WENT THROUGH MIKE’S HANDS. Then on the SECOND INTERCEPTION what happened was for the last two minutes Ford Field became a retractable dome & the roof opened & the wind blew the ball into the arms of Derrick Barnes. Plus supposedly Eminem poisoned the Bucs pregame meal, too! When they walked in THEY WALKED IN WITH VOMIT ON THEIR SWEATERS & IT WAS MOM’S SPAGHETTI! Eminem paid the refs, too!

Arians taught Bowles to never admit a bad call, I think. After Bowles lost the Rams game with the idiotic blitz, Arians said “you never question the call.”

Agree with D Cone. Bowles should have called a timeout on first down, to not give up on the game. That would have signalled we were still trying. If we had, Detroit would have used all 40 seconds on 2nd and 3rd down, and that would have left us with ~ 8 -11 seconds left. That’s what he should have done.
That said, he didn’t which signalled to Detroit that we’re done. With that in mind, they didn’t burn all 40 seconds on 2nd and 3rd down. To call timeout then, on 3rd down with :34 left, in my opinion is poor sportsmanship. Akin to lining up in victory formation then running a play anyway. Slimy Saints kinda stuff.
All told, Bowles gave up on 11 seconds. Not great, but not a huge deal like we’re trying to make it out that he gave up on :34 seconds. I’m not a Bowles fan, but this is a non-issue. Let’s focus on his atrocious defensive collapse.

Respectfully, I think a problem with this, aside from the back and forth about the unused timeout, is that you post a headline telling a grown 60 year old man the he “needs to apologize.” Not that he should. Something tells me that you wouldn’t tell him face to face at a press conference that he needs to. Why not? Because it’s easier to get away in the confines of the internet.
If somebody who doesn’t do my job told me that I “need to apologize” for something, I know what I’d tell them.

Campbell messed it up, and he actually fronted the media and said he messed up (“it’s on me”, or something like that). Bowles also messed up, and we get nonsense. The Bucs exceeded expectations this ear, but it was despite Bowles, not because of him. Go watch the games during the mid-season slide, or evaluate the game plan he put in for the Saints or week 178 against the Panthers. Bowles won’t do better than this, and will probably regress next year (especially if Canales gets hired elsewhere).

People are missing what actually happened. Detroit could have run the clock down to zero by kneeling, or at the most they’d have to do something stupid like have the QB run around a few seconds and throw the ball oob to burn off the last few seconds on 4th down. The game should have been over. It made sense Bowles did not use the time out.
HOWEVER, when we didn’t use the last time out, Detroit had some kind of brain fart. They must’ve switched off thinking that since the game had already been conceded, they didn’t have to run down the clock before they kneeled. Then they did the same on 3rd down! At that point we could’ve and probably should’ve called time out and forced them to kick the FG to ice the game with 30 seconds left, otherwise had the kicker missed it, we’d have had one last (long) shot.
The truth is Bowles probably just didn’t realize they failed to run down the play clock as everyone was already leaving the sidelines and going to congratulate the other team. I’m sure he didn’t just ‘give up’. He must not have realized what happened. Literally everyone was confused and still no one seems to know what happened. I had to go back and watch to find out. On 2nd and 3rd down there was still over 15 seconds on the PC when the Lions snapped and kneeled it. That’s where the 36 seconds remaining came from.
When I think about it, I’m glad we didn’t call time out. Yeah i wish we won, but not like that. Were we supposed to all the sudden turn around and say “time out, suckas” when we were walking off already? Obviously we didn’t plan to fool Detroit there, they got confused, but we were already walking off the field and then to turn around and call time out, IDK, it seems bush league. Yes, it was Detroit’s fault by failing to run out the play clock, but we were all walking off the sidelines and crap, you can understand they thought the game is over and let’s just kneel this quick and shake hands. In hindsight, calling TO there would be something Belicheat would do. In hindsight, this dude don’t abide. We lost. We did. We coulda shoulda won, but we didn’t. We lost. We all saw it. We gotta get even better so next year we win it. That’s it. Screw this clock talk. It’s loser talk. We all saw what happened.
What we need is a bit better blocking in the interior, a bit more defensive pass rush on the outside, and Baker to stop running his darn mouth!!! I love Baker and bring him back for sure, but don’t let him run his dang mouth! He told that guy to study the film, literally! The dude saw his trick play on film (the one a lot of QBs do where they throw right past the underneath coverage guy’s ear as soon as he turns his head) -yes on film just like Baker told him to do, he saw it on film and got the INT because of it and we lost. Baker can play ball but it’s time for him to focus on doing that instead of running his mouth! I love Baker but he has to learn. That cost us big time. Dude saw it on the film and baited his trick play to get the INT that lost the game. No more running mouths!!!

I’ve been watching sports for 60 years now and miracles do happen, even when they are the last play of the game. Coach, there’s historical NFL film evidence of teams coming back in less time than you would have had, such a weak a$$ excuse saying “no sense in prolonging the obvious” is totally unacceptable coming from a coach at any level, mind blowing from an NFL head coach?
What will Bowles do when a player decides “no sense in prolonging the obvious” and decides not to give their best effort on a crucial play, HIGH-5 him?
How Licht or the Glazers can be OK with this is far beyond my tolerance level, Bowels should be fired! Go get Harbaugh, Vrabel, or even Bilichick now. This team has too much talent to be managed by an incompetent HC.

Yeah, it’s literally the one and only thing I ever liked about Schiano – he made his players play the full 60 minutes.

2023 is the absolute ceiling for a Todd Bowles coached team. As a head coach, he’s a slightly above average defensive coordinator. He must be replaced. There are some highly talented people available and the Glazers must make the move.
