So how much might Mike Evans, the greatest receiver in Buccaneers history, command in free agency next season?
After today’s big day, Evans is not just having a strong season, the future Hall of Famer has been elite all year long.
In fact, Evans now leads the NFL in touchdown catches after his two TDs today in the rout of Jacksonville.
Leads the NFL. He’s got 13 touchdown catches.
Evans is a young 30 years old considering he’s never had a major injury and is in A+ shape. He would command top dollar if the Bucs let him hit the market. Betting on Mike Evans having three strong seasons in his durable body at 31, 32 and 33 years old is one heck of a good bet.
Joe and Ira Kaufman argued on the Ira Kaufman Podcast about who is a more important free agent to be re-signed after this season — Evans or Antoine Winfield Jr. It’s a heck of a debate.
Of course, the Bucs can re-sign both, but then they’ll probably want to re-sign Baker Mayfield and Lavonte David, too, and extend the contract of Tristan Wirfs to find more salary cap flexibility. That’s a massive amount of cash, a payout the Bucs might not be able to pull off considering their lack of cap room.
This is what happens when you have a roster with more beasts than most teams.

Too bad, if only Evans had a QB to throw to him this year? Baker haters take note. Evans has always been on Baker’s side even when you haven’t. Will be fun to see all the converts now. Remember Baker to short, isn’t accurate and all that.? Mike Evans has been in Baker’s corner since training camp. Told all of you weeks ago Baker would be in top 8 of all NFL QB’s in 2023.

I have a feeling that Baltimore will make a hard push for him. As most people know the Ravens could use another WR, they got a strong arm QB and Evans and their OC have a history.

If I’m Mike Evans, why would I want to go anywhere else? Up to this point he has had a hall of fame career and won a super bowl and he and Baker have a great repoire.

Go read Jason Licht’s bio. ME13 was one of his first signings. He’ll cut some dead wood so he can $$$reward the guys who deserve it. ME13 will retire here, and have the well-deserved honor of being the Bucs first offensive player enshrined in Canton.

Get 2 more TDs and that will be the new highpoint of ME career with 15. Will likely lead the league in TDs too which would be a first for ME for leading in a passing category.

Funny thing is Winfield and Evans will get their money. David will come back on slightly bigger deal than he played on last year, after being insulted in FA last year. Mayfield will probably do a lesser than average value deal. One he wants to stay in Tampa and two he knows he needs a team to get a ring. D White will be a cap casualty and gone in FA. Hello extra draft pick. There will be a major shift in cap space for teams this off season and most are for the worse. Talking to you slimy saints.

Gotta bring them back. You can NOT let 13 , 31 78 54 walk. If 6 finishes strongs then we gotta bring him back to. Would really hate to see 54 go but honestly from a Buisness stand point he would be odd man out and even that is debatable for how great he is playing

Gulper no one gives a flying filth flarn filth if you forgive any Baker hate. We’re Bucs fans you’re not. We were here long before you and after Baker leaves. You fanbois are the worse. Hanging on to his straps because he makes you all feel good! He has earned it from the non Trask fanbois because he hasn’t played the way a hyped up former #1 pick 6th year vet was supposed to. Sure he’s playing in a new system and coaches but a system doesn’t cause bad decisions and poor accuracy. It has only been the last 2 games where he’s been playing the way you cheerleaders have been chugging on him about. He’s finally playing consistently the way we expected of him. I’ll be glad if he can help the Bucs to multiple titles but will be glad when he leaves so that you and his fangoils will leave with him.
