The hard truth is that receivers Deven Thompkins and Trey Palmer, the rookie, have combined for a ton of snaps but only 26 receiving yards through the past three Bucs games, all wins.
These guys try real hard but have lost their productivity within the offense.
Joe doesn’t care why. It’s late-December. Play the hot hand and shake things up a bit. That’s why Joe hopes the Bucs lean more on veteran David Moore.
The 28-year-old was signed in the offseason because he has talent and speed, and he had thrived with Bucs offensive coordiantor Dave Canales in Seattle. Moore didn’t fit with the Panthers when he signed a free agent deal there in 2021 (like a lot of players) and then he had off-the-field issues.
This year, Moore had a good Bucs preseason but the team opted to place rookie receiver Rakim Jarrett on the roster and Moore was cut. He returned to Tampa Bay on the practice squad.
Moore was activated four weeks ago against the Colts and has delivered with three catches for 79 yards and a touchdown in limited snaps.
The guy has a ton of experience, incuding as a playoff starter with the Seahawks. He was huge last Sunday against the Packers. And Joe has hard Moore described as a steady, positive and uplifting presence around the Bucs locker room, even when he was a practice squad guy.
Play the man.

Hit the nail on the head Joe. Play the hot hand. Seems to be the emo right now. Playing Brit over 45 stinnie over Matt even tho that’s bin for awhile now. Zyon has bin playing hot. PLAY THE HOT HAND

I agree 100% Bowles needs to play the players who give the Bucs the best chance of winning. And Bowles should do this as if his own job is on the line. Because it probably is.
I love Trey Palmer and believe he can have a long successful career in the NFL but he needs more development to be ready to assume a starting position as the #3 WR.

Deven Thompkins and Trey Palmer would probably have more receiving yards if Dave Canales didn’t keep wasting our first and second downs running the ball between the tackles to no where just to have our one read quarterback throw to Mike Evans on third and long.

Well when you have a QB who struggles to pass for 200 yards a week the vast majority of the year, there aren’t going to be many yards to go around.
With that said, you should never ever count on a rookie, outside of maybe RB and kicker. Palmer has shown something, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a good player down the road. But he’s also a 6th rounder, so anything you get out of him is a bonus as the vast majority of 6th rounders never play a down in the NFL.

This is what has been missing all year, a number 3 receiver. Let him play out wide with Godwin in the slot and all will be well. He is a huge upgrade over Palmer or Tompkins. Plus he has playoff experience. That is awesome. Where has he been all year. We need real pros at skill positions. Not wannabes

Jaguars 28, Bucs 17. Jacksonville will out-muscle Tampa on both sides of the line and will simply bully the Bucs in the second half. Sorry. Wish I was wrong and I will come back and eat crow if I am wrong.

Moore and a few other have all earned playing time Joe. That is a good problem to have mostly. Britt, Watts, and Russell to name three more.
