Our beloved Buccaneers are December-ready.
It’s a beautiful thing. Joe is fired up! The Big Storm beer cans are in a celebratory mess on the floor of JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters. Joe gave the interns the green light to drink early in today’s glorious fourth quarter.
Put up those points, Bucs!
Tampa Bay has won three consecutive games and is now parked in fantastic shape in the NFC with a 7-7 record. The Bucs still hold the tiebreaker edge atop the NFC South, where the Saints also moved to 7-7 with a win against the Giants. The Falcons (6-8) LOST to the Panthers. However, the Bucs’ big win at Lambeau Field also put the team in prime Wild Card position.
If the Bucs win two of their final three regular season games, it’s going to be extremely hard to keep them out of the postseason as Tampa Bay holds a tiebreaker edge over the Vikings (7-7).
Lots of Bucs stars shining today. On defense, Joe has to call out Lavonte David for stepping up in big moments, including two tackles for loss, a big half-sack and a pass defensed, and for eclipsing 100 tackles in a season for the 10th time in his career. K.J. Britt, in for benched Devin White, looked like a starting inside linebacker again. And Joe has some love for Anthony Nelson, too, who got more snaps today and stepped up with two tackles for loss and a sack.
But the excitment was on offense, with Baker Mayfield having one of the best days of his six-year career. Mayfield racked up 381 yards with four touchdown throws to four different players. Chris Godwin was in Pro Bowl form, too, with the best day of his 2023 season — 10 catches for 155 yards on 12 targets.
The Bucs also got huge contributions — and touchdowns –from Cade Otton, Rachaad White, Mike Evans and the big fourth quarter catch-and-run from backup receiver David Moore.
In other words, the big guns showed up in a huge game.
Joe’s not sure a .500 record ever felt so good.
Stick with Joe for much more out of this great game.

Absolutely best game called by Canales by far. His run selection was still a little stagnant but he spread the ball around, used playaction, gave Mayfield some easy passes off the WR screens. He looked like an NFL OC today. Mayfield recovered early and had a very good game.

I’m not trying to be negative here I’m just pointing something out… As well as Baker played and as good as that playcalling was today the touchdown to Mike Evans, and the touchdown to Dave Moore Baker went to the wrong receiver.
It wasn’t that bad with the Evans TD, but if you watch that, a WR is alone in the right half of the end zone, no one within 10 yards.
Dave Moore took both defenders with him and left Evans a little more downfield over near the sidelines with nobody anywhere near him. That is where the ball should’ve went. Ironically Evans would not have got a touchdown out of it.
Just nitpicking. Baker played great. Heck, the line played great. The play design for the R White touchdown reception was phenomenal!

We still don’t know if he will be a one-year-wonder…but for the rest of this season, I’ll eat crow and root for him.
Feels like the team finally came together to gel just in time. We should make the playoffs…and maybe even compete if they keep this up.
If they can compete in the playoffs…we could be looking at a run. We have the players.

Yes, this is true…
…but he played well enough to beat a winning team, I believe. So I’m choosing to give him credit.
The rest of the team stepped up as well. I’m buying in for the rest of this season. Depending on how he does going forward, we’ll see next season.
So far as Todd Bowles…he did something today that surprised me…be started to play prevent (expected)…then he suddenly got aggressive again.
That was a genius move that caught the packers off guard.

Hell of a game, and on the road in a need to win situation. This team, with so many young players, is showing a lot of growth and improvement, and even more heart. Kudos to Baker and the crew for a great game! Regardless of what happens the rest of this season, this fan is excited for the future of this team! This year was about developing the young players and integration of the new offense, and it looks like some great strides in that direction are starting to pay off.

I am no baker fan but I am a Buccaneers fan so will root for him. I think he did very well today but did have a couple of boneheaded plays particularly the fumble that he should have thrown the ball away or throwing it to Otton or white who were open for a short gain.
Two of his touchdown passes were really the receiver and the running back making great plays and housing short passes but again I give him credit he put up 34 points going to important game. That said at the first sign we are eliminated from the playoffs I still believe Trask should start and see what we have in him.

But I will not change my position because of one great game- I think they should draft Jayden Daniels if possible for the future at QB. Baker had fantastic games in the past but he hasn’t done enough in my mind to show that he is a franchise QB.
