Mike Williams For Mayor
August 14th, 2010Joe’s a Bucs fan like everyone visiting these here pages.
Hence the name JoeBucsFan.com.
So Joe can respectfully say that if you didn’t find hope filling your heart and mind when Mike Williams caught that first-quarter bomb from Josh Freeman — a tough catch with Vontae Davis in his face — then you need to turn in you Bucs fan card.
It’s really that simple.
Freeman was sharp. Williams put some good stuff on film.
And asĀ the greatĀ Antonio Bryant likes to say, “Film don’t lie.”

Yep Mr. Williams looks good in practice AND a game.
Good for him, looks like a very good draft choice for sure.

I have “Gymnastics” and “Entertainment Tonight” on my DVR right now.
First time for everything…

Really impressed with Williams body control. The kid really seems to have some game.

FIRE GREG OLSON!:
Remember these two things:
1) The NFL NEVER blacks out road games. Never have, never will.
2) Out House Networks’ DVR listings do not supercede binding contracts from two separate entities.

That was an exciting play, the offense looked sharp in the first quarter, then the 2nd team came in, Clayton dropped pass, ward looked terrible, josh johnson looked like Willy Beamon in his first game, ugh. But that TD drive early was what i was looking for.

Now if we can just get Benn to catch up to Williams, we’ll be in good shape….
August 14th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
Did you notice that after Williams made that catch he was pleading with the ref to make the call? That’s a veteran move. Williams fought for position and made that play.
In addition Freeman noticed how Williams made the break and the touch on that pass was a thing of beauty!!!

As good as Mike Williams looks , Arrelious Benn looks just as bad.
Holy sh*t is he gonna be a bust. He looks like the second coming of Dexter jackson, only slower….
August 14th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
Radio,
Too early for a bust, but his footwork does look slow. When I went to practice the difference between him and Williams in that regard was like night and day.
So Williams is one starter, and stroughter. Whose next? Didn’t see anybody else step forward, except maybe Broks till he dropped it. Clayton damn near fumbled as usual.

Hopefully, Stovall isn’t hurt too bad. I think Preston Parker has a decent shot at the roster.
August 14th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
Tough catch for the rookie in the rain, tight roping the sideline and shaking off some man to man coverage. That catch and The Franchise’s throw got me all jacked up. Caddilac and Sgt. Stroughter have me excited about the season too.
August 14th, 2010 at 10:36 pm
I’m thinking Williams, Stroughter… then Stovall and Brown…. with Benn coming along slowly, but eventually stepping in.
August 14th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
I remember earlier in the game when Brown ran a good route and appeared to be open downfield, but Johnson threw the ball behind him and it was picked off.

Benn is invisible out there which is brutal considering where we drafted him (2nd round). He still has lots of time to redeem himself but if this guy can’t ascend past Stovall on the depth chart, that’s brutal.
WR Mike Williams continues to impress.
Clayton/Ward/Brown all looked horrible tonight. At this rate, they’re making it pretty easy for Dominik to consider cutting them.
August 15th, 2010 at 7:33 am
give benn some time fellas. it takes most receivers 3 years to really hit thier stride. one preseason game does not make a bust, especially considering how jj played behind the 2nd string o-line.
August 15th, 2010 at 10:46 am
I didn’t think Benn got much of a look.
He had the corner beat on the one deep pass but it was
overthrown while Williams got a perfect pass from Freeman.
The guy needs chances so we can get a better look at him.

I think it was actually beneficial to play Benn with the 2nd team. he got more field time than the starters, and that’s what he needed. I figure we’ll see much more rapid improvement from him the more field time he sees. It might be a good idea to work him with 2nd team again next week, then maybe see if he can go 1st team in week 3 (when they usually play the first half). That would be plenty of snaps for Benn, and we should see him right up there with Williams/Stroughter by week 1.
And as much as I loved the Williams catch, it was his only catch of the game. I’d like to see him get more time as well, I want to see more than one catch from him. I want to see if he knows how to sit between zones when it’s not one-on-one coverage.

Best thing about the play is that, according to Freeman, Davis was talking trash to the bucs before the game. Then he gets owned. That, my friends is letting Football do the talking.
August 16th, 2010 at 12:26 am
Joe, what does Antonio Bryant know about film? He hasn’t been in ANY this year!! Nice to see the Bucs screwed that one up letting Bryant go huh???
August 16th, 2010 at 12:28 am
If only we could get JJ to puke before taking his first snap of the game–now that would be worth the price of admission!!!
