  1. HC Grover Says:

See; PLAN 9, TRASK, ET AL.

  2. Nicholas Carlson Says:

What’s not to be confident in?

He built the roster that brought Brady. He was stuck with Lovie, whiffed on Koetter, and nailed it with Arians. (Arians stuck him and us with Bowles.)

The grass is not always greener! Trust a long time Bucs fan…

  3. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Little confidence.

Licht has been terrible with free agency this year. He doesn’t resign affordable key players from last year’s defense like Mike Edwards, Keanu Neal (starter for Pittsburgh), Murphy Bunting, Nunez Roaches and you replace them with 2 flops in Ryan Neal and Greg Gaines?

Also 0 attempts to try and even use free agency to get much needed running back and tight end depth. Keyshaun Vaughn and Ko Keift are not NFL caliber.

Hopefully Licht can turn the corner but it seems like he’s back to his old ways from 2014-2018. Licht has yet to do much to impress pre or post Arians. At least he found a kicker.

  4. HC Grover Says:

He will guide the Bucs through the next few years of Bowlzo an losing.

  5. Jack Clark Says:

I’m confident because Todd Bowles stopped running that weak as Cover 2 defense and the run blocking has gotten better.

  6. Ricardo Says:

    Confident.
Winfield, Vea, Wirfs, Evans, Godwin and more.
Call me crazy but there may be 3 HOFers in that short list alone. I just wish he didn’t gamble so much on small school guys.

  7. Caleb Says:

Tbbucs3 – Licht didn’t have cap space last off-season to sign any one substantial in free agency due to all the dead cap. Also you really think this team misses Neal or Bunting who sucked last year. Roches is just a role player depth peice. I don’t think anyone you mentioned would make any difference.

  8. Bosch Says:

Poll needs to be corrected. Shows very confident twice.

  9. orlbucfan Says:

Well, well, well, at least the airheads on this blog get a few things right. Licht is the best GM Bucs have had in their history. Man, did the Glazer Boyz luck out!!

  10. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist and Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

He better re-sign Evan & LVD after this season. (Our best player on offense and our best player on Defense, still)

And if Mayfield continues his solid season, sign him as well.

Also, Winfield obv and everyone else we can keep.

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

Caleb, Mike Edwards and Keanu Neal are both making less than Ryan Neal so you can’t really chalf that up to salary cap. If you watch the film, Keanu Neal didn’t “suck” at all last year he was great in underneath coverage and a hammer against the run. If he sucked then Tomlin wouldn’t have signed him.

Though, the more disappointing decision was letting Mike Edwards go. Amazing how Jason Licht can watch Mike Edwards pick 6 Matt Ryan twice in back to back plays and think Ryan Neal is better than that.

If you wanna know why the pass defense has fallen off a cliff, just look to the strong safety spot.

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Licht built a SB team, and is doing his best with a maxed out cap and a complete dud as his headcoach.

  13. bucsfan951 Says:

i have always voted little confidence but it has recently changed.

no confidence from now until his firing at the end of the season.

  14. bucsfan951 Says:

my apologies. i thought it was a todd b pole.

    i am confident in licht

  15. NE Fan Says:

Would have loved to seen this poll if taken last week.

  16. Buc king Says:

Well im confident that with a great punter n kicker we won’t see any dumb moves in that area any more…
I like to see him get better at eyeing safety talent and running backs…
I like white as rb but more of a flex back..back up 3rd down role..
Now I know this oline is trash n can’t run block to their kids lives but I believe a great back can create on his own.
We still need another ballpark safety to pair with win jr..
I’m fine with moving Davis david shaq..
I think they all get paid to much and you don’t see the return.
If i was a gm inlay yeah im pay you but it’s going to be on results..
And if you don’t meet those result I’ll expect a understanding when I come to renegotiate your contract.

  17. Jugheadfla Says:

Explain this to me, he signed Dean and Davis to huge contracts which neither are even close to earning and maybe 2 of the worst CBs in the league but yet let Whitehead walk who is possibly one of the best safeties in the league with the Jets. If he was still here it would be whitehead and winfield instead of Neal. Little confidence, his drafting is sub par, yes he’s hit on a handful the past couple years, but far too many misses and all out first round busts

  18. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

    Totally confident

He built a Super Bowl winning team and the only coach he hired won that Super Bowl.

  19. Jugheadfla Says:

What are you talking about? He also hired Lovie Smith and Dirk Koetter…..and let’s be honest without Brady Arians doesn’t win that Super Bowl

  20. Ultra ClodHopper Says:

Lovie was hired before Licht. The Koetter and Bowles decisions were made above his head IMHO. I don’t think he had any choice in the matters.

  21. Tbbucs3 Says:

Licht can’t get a forever superbowl pass….look at how Belichick is failing miserably without Brady….now Licht has to prove that he can win without Brady/Arians.

  22. David Says:

He has done great, but there are a couple issues.
    1. He cannot find an edge rusher in the draft to save his life-
****hopefully YaYa proves that wrong because that kid shows some serious potential.
    2. He gets a little enamored with trying to find a diamond in the rough from somewhere or some small school.
****The reality is if you draft nothing but Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson over the last 6 years , you would probably have a Super Bowl team.

    3. This is not an issue. This is just a huge test. There are a lot of very good quarterbacks coming out and he needs to hit on one that’s going to be the franchise QB for the next dozen years.
**** I like Bo Nix & Jaden Daniels.
Caleb seems to be a project, but you can see the awesome talent.
I have not really seen the kid from UNC nor have I really paid attention to JJ McCarthy, too busy watching Michigan’s defense

  23. Dom>Licht Says:

Still no pass rush…. OLine is average at best at 4 positions. Take Brady out of the mix and he is a below 500 GM. Bellacheat Has a half a dozen Super Bowls and is catching more heat than this Loser.

  24. Tye Says:

    Little Confidence!
For that to improve will take seeing who he will bring in as a NEW competent HC…

  25. optimisticbucsfan Says:

    Don’t get it.

    Without Tom he is 38-75!

THIRTY EIGHT AND SEVENTY-FIVE FREAKING LOSSES.

    He stinks out loud!

Why? Someone help me. Brady isn’t walking through the door.

  26. Joshua porter Says:

Really depends on the position he’s drafting lol….. rb, qb, te, de he has sucked with every pick from that position or a damn returner

  27. Usfbuc Says:

GM doesn’t coach the games or play in them, so the record really doesn’t mean much. We know that the ownership gets involved in coach hiring and firing so that isn’t solely Lichts call.

I have done the math before and something like 60% of all of his draft picks are still in the league. Average bust rate in the first round is like 50% so anything above that is good. One study found that on average only about 24 players in each draft class end up being good picks with good picks.

Right now Licht is right in line with the average for first round picks through 2020. I am giving him credit for – ME, Wirfs, Vea, and White.

    Second round through 2020
11 picks, with 5 bad picks, 1 who showed promise and then got injured, 5 solid picks.

  28. ElioT Says:

Take the Brady years out of the equation.

Then tell me what Licht’s record looks like. = horrific.

    Please be real here.

  29. Bubby Says:

    1) Too many whiffs in the draft. His hit rate there is abysmal and he’s got a bad eye for talent.

    2) Brady brought in Lenny, AB, Gronk and others. No credit.

    3) he allows bad decisions to fester. Too indecisive with leftwhich, jameis, and the future 7 win 2023 Bucs that should have tanked.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

The reason Brady came here was because of the team that Licht built. If you don’t get that, you’re literally an idiot. Literally.

  31. Steven007 Says:

Take the Brady years out of the equation? Use the same logic with the Patriots. Why do we take Brady out of the equation? As has been said many times he liked the team that the GM put together. And the coach that the GM hired. May as well say take out the jameis years. Oh wait he drafted him? So what? Bottom line is he acquired a player to round out the team. That’s what GM’s do. Maybe you should suggest that Sean McVay and their GM take Stafford out of the equation. Take away the broncos super bowl with Peyton Manning. Just a silly argument.

  32. Dreambig Says:

I agree Steven, you can’t pick and choose what you give him credit for. He built a Super Bowl team and that is not easy. Having said that, he does have quite the mixed history. A string of bad coaching hires until Arians, bad free agents followed by great ones. Lately he has hired a head coach with a significant losing record, an OC with no experience, a QB with a questionable resume, and a RB who has never produced, all at the same time Is that a lot of blind hope that all of those areas magically work out or forced financial descions? Probably the latter. Either way he bears the responsibility. Jason is a mixed bag. Not the best GM but not the worst either.

  33. Bubby Says:

Rod, the 2019 team sucked hard led by Jason’s #1 pick. Brady came here to run over the GM and called all his friends. We dont win that Super Bowl without AB, Lenny and Gronk.

  34. Buc'n Enough Says:

I give him credit for one thing..ducking responsibility.

  35. Obvious Says:

Sorry bubby your cherry picking. Nobody is buying it.

Why don’t you tell us how You would handle things for a good laugh.

And while you’re at it, play owner and tell us who you’d hire for GM and explain why you’re sure that fantasy pick GM would guarantee better picks than Licht has, his or her (for that matter) proven strategy for recruiting talent and who that GM you would pick, tell us their strategy for making Better Deals when hiring FA’s and how they would get even better bargains for in-house FA’s that Licht HAS achieved time after time.

I’m curious to hear this. And that goes for ALL the “owners” of a football team in the crowd here at Joe Bucs Fan. GO FOR IT….

  36. Licht House of Cards Says:

Joe what’s up with the timing of the poll? Feel like it missed the Monday morning traffic after a game.

My main criticism of the GM is what is the teams identify. Look around the league and the top tier teams usually have one. He tried to build an offense that could run you out of the building (didn’t work), tried to build a DLine and lock down secondary (hasn’t worked), he’s even tried to win through special teams (kickers – no luck).

Please take a look at the draft history and you will see a lot more Whiffs than Wirfs. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/tam/draft.htm

  37. Joe Says:

tried to build a DLine and lock down secondary (hasn’t worked),

D-line might be a development issue. As far as a secondary, please go check who started in the secondary in the 2020 playoffs and how those guys wound up on the roster. Then look at the quarterbacks they faced in the final three games.

Joe would say that worked. Worked quite well.

  38. Licht House of Cards Says:

Joe 2020? its 2023 now. Did the secondary continue the gravedigger identity in 2021. Listen I want the bucs to win and never want a tank but please let me know what is this teams strengths and identify.

In my opinion Licht gets a pass, Bowles was the D coordinator for that 2020 playoffs defense so he should be protected too.

Rod, the 2019 team sucked hard led by Jason’s #1 pick.

As I said, literally an idiot.
