One number that emerged from the Houston Horror on Sunday is especially hard to stomach for those who understand how NFL teams are dead without a pass rush.
Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud threw 40 passes and official NFL NextGen Stats data shows Stroud averaged a whopping 3.35 seconds of Time To Throw, which measures the length of time from the snap to the release of the quarterback.
Those 3.35 seconds were the sixth-longest Time To Throw mark for a game season.
For perspective, Stroud had a 3.54-seconds Time To Throw in Week 6 against the Saints, but that was more a function of the Saints defense harassing him and locking down receivers. In that game, Stroud completed less than 50 percent of his passes and threw just 27 times — versus 40 times against the Bucs’ historically soft defense.
As Bucs inside linebackers coach referenced this week to the Tampa Bay media, Stroud simply had much too much time to throw on Sunday.
Man, just a few better pass rushes among those 40 snaps and the Bucs win that game Sunday. Remember, Houston ran for just 53 yards on the Bucs — 470 yards and 5 touchdowns came through the air.
Joe expects the Bucs’ pass rush to be better tomorrow against the Titans. It can’t get much worse.

It’s very true that a quarterback never completed a pass laying on his back. That is a fact. Having said that, our cornerbacks do not need to impersonate little bo peep trying to find her sheep.

Who cares how little they ran for, they threw for 470 with 4 TD passes! Give the defense a cookie for the run game.

Being in Texas, I am sick to death of Stroud this and Stroud that in the news. They don’t say that the Bucs defensive scheme was indefensible. Looking forward to the day of not seeing our current defensive coordinator prowling the Bucs sidelines. I agree who cares about run yardage in this loss. Bowels let a rookie set a passing yardage record. What an embarrassment to Bucs defensives of old. No wonder Ronda called them out.

I’m not a guy who’ll give up on players too soon, but JTS is at that point. He’s a slightly better version of Noah Spence. Let Diaby get his snaps and get the rookie rust out. Get Diaby some experience for 2024

That Wyatt undrafted guy was tearing up the preseason buy Bowles weakness is replacing players that can’t perform. Good coaches make necessary changes. Bowles can’t do it. If will lead to his firing and our Bucs missing the playoffs. Bring on Jim Harbaugh!!!!!

Here is another name for HC in 2024, it’s an interesting one, he is the Eagles assistant head coach and passing game coordinator. He also served in the same positions with the Colts years ago, Kevin Patullo. Look at the success the Eagles have had on offense for past 2 seasons now.

Hall looked like he might develop early, but lately he’s just been fighting JTS for the last tampon in the locker room’s vending machine. ( They have to have one in there by law these days)

we really do need an edge guy with presence who comes with a vengeance to compliment shaq…
it’s a shame to watch joe sho busting in front of our very eyes…he’s just not panning out, and at this point in his career he should be…
as you’ve heard many times before, he’s just a great athlete, but not much of a football player…
can we use cam gill more off the edge…sometimes he makes plays when given the opp…
years ago we used to have linemen come out of nowhere at times…literally off the scrap heap, or the street, or best buy…can’t licht’s gang find a hungry young athletic dude who’s out there with no contract, and very eager to make his mark in the nfl – there’s always a couple of those types floating around who haven’t found a home – or a system

Markee Watts will put JTS on the bench permanently if given a chance. Teams around the league has JTS number. OL just stand with one arm extended out n in front of JTS n his response is retreat n fall, retreat n fall, etc, just that simple. JTS is a nfl impersonator, he couldn’t wear Noah Spence jock straps. I have no clue JTS reason for being on a nfl field. He’s mentally n physically not fit for the nfl. He was reluctant to take off n continue running down the field to score on a lucky int of a two point conversion. He didn’t know he could advance the ball. And, on Shaqs forced fumble on the qb, JTS clearly could’ve recovered the fumble but instead, he was so excited to sack the qb while the ball was just laying on the ground. The OL recovered it. Super Ditto!!!!!

The only reason I will watch the game this week is because I have a very, very long streak of not missing any games. I’d like to keep that streak in tact.

Watching the Georgia game though… Brock Bowers is going to be phenomenal at TE And McConkey is going to be a heck of a slot receiver…
Not sure who the big time edge rushers are in this draft and if it’s deep enough to head to the second round but I have a feeling round 2 is going to be a lineman on the offensive side of the ball
