Adam Schein Still Not Sold On The Bucs

Adam Schein of Sirius NFL Radio has made no secret of what he thinks of the current state of the Bucs.
It isn’t pretty.
And though it appears the Bucs may have hit a few homers in the draft, and Schein has moderately warmed to Bucs general manager Mark Dominik, Schein is not yet convinced the Bucs have a prayer of a winning season in 2010.
While pimping the Sirius NFL Radio training camp tour stop at One Buc Palace this afternoon at 3 p.m., Schein again explained why he’s not drinking the Kool-Aid while he and his co-host of “The Blitz,” Rich Gannon, discussed the Bucs this morning.
Adam Schein: The Bucs are paper-thin at wide receiver. I don’t know what to think of the quarterback — he didn’t have as good of a rookie year as Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez. They have major questions on defense. The head coach is not ultra-skilled at game management… I know this is the time of the year to be optimistic, but Rich, I’m having a hard time trying to come up with positive things to say about the Bucs.
Rich Gannon: I want to see something out of Josh Freeman. I am worried about how inexperienced they are at wide receiver. The defense, they need to get the two new guys inside to play really well early or they will struggle.
I think this is a team that will struggle. I don’t seem them having a winning record and it might be slightly better than last year’s 3-13 that they had last year.
While Joe doesn’t totally buy what Schein says, Schein does reinforce the main issue Joe has with the Bucs making a run at a winning record this season: The Bucs are relying on way too many rookies to have splash seasons in their first year.
It’s a reach to expect Gerald McCoy, Brian Price, Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams each to have average NFL years all in their rookie seasons. That’s what it will take for the Bucs to make a playoff run.

It does seem we will have to travel uphil to get to even a respectable improvement such as 6-10, or 7-9. Gannon and Schein are just playing on the odds saying this stuff about us.
The point is that even though on average rookies dont play well, this year they will for us. I suspect that some will play really well while most will be above/below average, which will all balance out to be a few shades better than our vets last year.

I know Freeman didnt play as long as Sanchez and Stafford, but I thought that during the last 9 games of the season that Freeman had the best numbers of them all? Or am I mistaken?

I disagree. I don’t think it is such a reach. We are pretty deep at WR although young and not NFL battle tested. How did Marcus Colston do in his rookie year? What makes these guys any different? Drew Brees? Yes, but Freeman is working his butt off to be successful. Unlike some prognosticating @$$holes, I’m not throwing in the towel before week 1. Adam Schein can suck my D**k, and Gannon is still sore about losing to the Bucs in the Superbowl. We play numerous teams that are in the same boat as us, rebuilding or reloading, or just plain sucking like Cleveland, Seattle, Detroit, St Louis, Carolgina. And I’m not sold on Washington either., McNabbulous always gets hurt and it will probably happen on an Eagle Blitz. All things are relative.

The D.. Freeman didn’t have the best numbers of the group but all their numbers were so crazy close that it doesn’t matter really. All three threw for very similiar stats last year so for Adam to say “I don’t know what to think of the quarterback — he didn’t have as good of a rookie year as Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez. ” is just completely wrong. Honestly, while i don’t think Adam has a true bias against the Bucs.. for some strange reason they seem to be his whipping boys this year.

Not sure if anyone is listning to Sirius NFL Radio but damn, Cowher is jacked. The Bucs let him go to meetings today and in the huddles on the practice field. Cowher sounds like he wants to volunteer to be on Rah’s staff.

I’ve heard a few analysts say that they think Freeman is gonna be the best out of the three of them
I’m sure this sounds ridiculous but it does seem like Schein has got it out for the Bucs

First of all right now all we have is two rookies starting unless you count bowden. mccoy and williams. we are not counting on benn yet he is devoloping at a typical second rounder pace. Price will be third behind miller and mccoy. it isnt as bad as all thinks. we will be notably better this year god forbid something tragic happens. and having a lot of Wr’s on the roster does not translate into depth!!! that is still our weakest position untill two people STEP UP!!!. I dont think that having two rookies starting on a team is that unheard of.

This is the kind of “off the cuff” stuff you get from someone that does not actually follow the Bucs. It’s the “10,000 foot” view of the Bucs.
SCHEIN:The Bucs are paper-thin at wide receiver.
REALITY: The Bucs are not paper-thin at receiver. You could fairly say that they present a big uknown in terms of talent at WR, but they don’t have “depth” issue. They may have a talent issue, but then again, maybe not.
SCHEIN: I don’t know what to think of the quarterback — he didn’t have as good of a rookie year as Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez.
REALITY: True, but he didn’t play for Jets (arguably best defense and running game in the league) and he played only part of the season under a “draw it up in the dirt” ofensive system with NO running game. He won one more game the Stafford on an equally bad team. (By the way, one would reasonably expect a #1 overall from GA to outperform a #17 from K-State, right?)
SCHEIN: They have major questions on defense.
REALITY: That is the conclusion any 5th grader would reach by looking ONLY at the gross 2009 stats. They do have questions on defense, but “major” questions. They played 2/3 of season under a different scheme then they played for the last ten.
To be clear — I am only saying that Schein is nothing more than a talking head who got his talking point from an intern or from reading USA Today. Make no mistake, the Bucs flatly deserve this kind of report and will continue to get this kind of report from national media until they do something about it.

Schein is a dumbass. I thought he was suppose to give us PRO’s and cons… Not just con’s! Thanks guy for flying all the way from the hamptons to tell us how much we suck. That’s bad for football and leaves fans down on their team instead of optimistic. We know we suck right now, thanks for confirming the obvious.

Sanchez and Stafford had better numbers because they played all year, Schein , you douche bag.
Not to mention thier coaches were smart enough not to fire thier offensive coordinators a week before the start of the season, and give all the training camp reps to a bum like Byron Leftwich, unlike Rah.
Freeman will be a better QB than both of them.

I’ve read repeatedly that Stafford, Sanchez and Josh had similar TD-INT numbers, but Josh’s accuracy (believe it or not) was several percentage points higher. The kid was thrown into a mess, and I expect he’ll be better with the consistency of having a system in place, AND actually getting snaps this season. We’re still at least a year or 2 away from breathing Play-offs imo. I’ll consider this season our tremendous rookie’s warm up for better things. You never know, we may find a lot of very good core guys for the future.
The defense needs more at DE, that’s no secret. But, “major” problems? I don’t think so!

Schein is a moron, Gannon is a tool. Other analysts and media guys that commented on Bucs did some research before saying anything. I am sure both these fools just looked at 2009 stats page for offense and defense and came out with all that garbage.

Yeah- good post Mushy! Nice to see almost all of us Agree that Schein is a douche! Gannon’s motives are obvious. Most humiliating performance by a QB in a SuperBowl? – Rich Gannon! Most interceptions returned for touchdowns in SuperBowl History! The Bucs embarrassed Gannon, he’s sure not gonna say anything good about them! The only one agreeing with Schein and Gannon are Eric and LightningBuc. That is really sad and pathetic. But as I’ve said before, they aren’t Buc fans. They want this team to fail, and embrace any hatred throw our way. They will never be open minded on any issue. That’s not a fan. And hoping your home team gets demolished every game, and bad mouthing them to everyone, that’s just a disloyalty that is sickening. No matter what flowery excuses they use, the truth is they hate the Bucs!
