Offensive Breakout Near?
November 4th, 2023The Bucs offense has been anemic the past three games.
In the current three-game losing streak (Lions, Dixie Chicks and Bills), the Bucs are averaging 12.3 points a game.
What in the name of Marcus Arroyo is going on here?
If the offense is going to break out, might it be Sunday? Numbers from Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis suggests the Texans defense does a lot of bending lately.
Houston is allowing 36.1 yards per drive over their past three games, 31st in the league.
So here is the thing: The Bucs cannot run the ball. You have two excellent receivers. Use them! This isn’t rocket science, man.
Will the Bucs just pound the ball to nowhere Sunday (again)? And then next week will Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales once again stand at a podium, shrug his shoulders and caution fans that “it takes time?”

Any run blocking olinemen near?
November 4th, 2023 at 10:05 am
Stand at a podium, unfortunately. 🙁
November 4th, 2023 at 10:12 am
Yeah been waiting for an offensive breakout for almost 25 games now.
November 4th, 2023 at 10:13 am
“Will the Bucs just pound the ball to nowhere Sunday (again)? ”
As long as Todd Bowles is the head coach nothing will change.
Direct quote from our head coach – “it’s not the yards per rush attempt that matters it is the number of rush attempts that is more important”
WTF?
November 4th, 2023 at 10:20 am
The way Bowels wants to play offense with low scoring ball control he is going to lose his job.
November 4th, 2023 at 10:26 am
Did Bowles resign or something?
Black Monday is coming soon!
November 4th, 2023 at 10:41 am
Yes, the Bucs will continue to try to run the ball. Because Todd says so. It’s almost like he’s flipping the fans the bird.
November 4th, 2023 at 11:01 am
Running the ball is Bowles game plan. Canales has to work within the perimeter set for him.
November 4th, 2023 at 11:14 am
The fact that our head coach is soo stubborn and wants to pound the rock is RIDICULOUS. We don’t have the lineman for that. Pass the ball to open up the run, spread the defense out run some reverses, some draws, roll Baker out and give him a run pass option run some uptempo. What happened to the we’re going to make the defense defend every blade of grass Canales was talking about? It’s maddening that he stands at the podium each week saying how difficult the offense is to learn why the losses keep piling up. He needs to make some adjustments quickly or he will be a one and done as an OC Unless he and Todd have both been told they have two years to get this team right. Which honestly I’m starting to think that especially with them running Mauch out there every week knowing he’s not ready and his there’s no short cuts to this offense take.

If not tomorrow then not this year
November 4th, 2023 at 11:32 am
They loose Sunday it’s over.

Joe: “This ain’t rocket science, man.”
L0L!
November 4th, 2023 at 11:42 am
We’ve been waiting for an offensive break-out since last season when the O also looked impotent…but had a better run game.
Now that is sad.
November 4th, 2023 at 11:59 am
They are sticking to run because they can’t pass either. That’s with 2 legitimate #1 receiver talent. This is beyond sad.
November 4th, 2023 at 12:09 pm
Read the headline and thought.. Oh Bruce Arians is coming back.
But nope.
November 4th, 2023 at 12:51 pm
Bowles will continue to run for none. High chance a loss will be fron another Bowles Blunder.
November 4th, 2023 at 1:47 pm
Yup, when the run-game-crazed head coach and the play-calling from the puppet-OC far exceeds the opposing team in concern about the offensive-capability to break-out, it’s an embedded problem for every week.
I envision a lot of successful screens to Rachaad, then Bowles starts feeling frisky again as it opens-up chunks of yards in seam-plays to the almost forgotten Chris, and then Captain Todd Queeg ruins another drive with “up-the middles” n’ out.
The Buccaneers will be out in front early if Baker commits mutiny and keeps passing (or running), though…so there is hope.
Other than that, maybe there will be some “O-line break-out” in run-blocking and everyone’s happy; because there -will be- “up–the-middles,” we can count on THAT.
November 4th, 2023 at 1:49 pm
I wish we still had Arians.
It seems Leftwich and Bowles are very stubborn. But Arians was in command as a head coach. Now without Arians we are only going to go in one direction. I smell a second consecutive loosing season. Smh
November 4th, 2023 at 2:00 pm
We all appreciate the optimism and want this team to succeed. However, breaking out against a terrible defense is not a breakout. We need to see a breakout against a top 10 defense.
November 4th, 2023 at 2:23 pm
Yeah, but we don’t have BA or TB. So what? Canales has plenty of healthy receivers, so use them! My focus will be on Devin White on D. Getting really fed up with him.
November 4th, 2023 at 3:11 pm
Is an offensive breakout near? No.
November 4th, 2023 at 3:28 pm
NO
November 4th, 2023 at 3:53 pm
If Ariens were coaching today, Baker would be elite, no question. Baker has not had a good situation in the NFL since he arrived. This should have been his break out year. He is a good quarterback and his teammates respect his efforts. Bowles is not a good head coach period. It doesn’t matter if he is a defensive head coach. There are numerous examples of defensive head coaches in the NFL with plenty of success and stability. Bowles is not one of them. Keeping it real in Ireland.
November 4th, 2023 at 5:01 pm
You can watch the Bucs in Ireland?
November 4th, 2023 at 5:16 pm
If we don’t have some sort of redemption during this game the season might be lost this early. An epiphany is in order and maybe we need to dive in head first to see if maybe we can retrieve a cross or a football or two.
November 4th, 2023 at 5:39 pm
More like offensive break down. Stupid Bowles.
November 4th, 2023 at 6:16 pm
The first four games the Bucs averaged 21 points per game – not great by today’s NFL standards, but 3 wins. Now other teams have some film on the Bucs – the last three games 12.3 points per game. A break out offense? Not likely, more a retread of 2022, but without Brady. Hoping, but hard to believe this will turn around.
November 4th, 2023 at 7:51 pm
Bucs offense is suffering from atrophy. Not likely there will be an offensive breakout this.
No run block no run.
No running game pass block.
No pass block no throw.
No throw no QB standing.
Just a bunch of QB trees planted in our backfield.
Baker can’t do it all.
November 4th, 2023 at 7:58 pm
I have a feeling were gonna break out this Sunday in all aspects and win 31-17 , which will get fan base all pumped up again and excited only to lay an egg in S.F and bring out the bench and fire everyone card….i hope this sunday at least were all grinning about a huge (must) win
November 4th, 2023 at 7:59 pm
Why is everyone so focuses on points and the team’s record? The Bucs are winning the turnover battle and that’s the most important thing in football. +8, the Bucs are alone in 1st place – that’s all that matters! That’s what I was told year after year as Winston was leading a top 5 offense while the Bucs year after year had the NFL’s worst defense and kicking game. I was told it wasn’t about scoring points, it was about protecting the ball – and now you guys got what you wanted, a coach and QB combo that cares first and foremost about protecting the ball!
November 4th, 2023 at 8:35 pm
They’ll never go uptempo unless trailing…..Bowles knows his defense can’t stop anyone. He handcuffs the offense to preserve his defense. He’s wired backwards for today’s game, modern NFL is geared around offense and scoring, Bowles wants to play 90’s football without the punishing secondary. It’s a hopeless cause.
November 4th, 2023 at 9:01 pm
Todd Monken Bucs HC 2024
November 4th, 2023 at 11:12 pm
I’m going to be optimistic, we do well against Houston this week.
November 5th, 2023 at 1:54 am
It’s do or die time Baker. Put up or shut up dude.
We have guys who can catch…Run? Nope…Up to you.
No more happy feet, pull it down and scramble stuff… We need points.
Coach Canales. Pretty much the same goes for you sir.
Go Bucs!
November 5th, 2023 at 12:41 pm
Wait, what? Did we fire Bowles?
If not, then no. Bowles has proven over multiple years and multiple teams as a HC that he can not field a competent offense. He is stuck in 1998. Handcuffs.
3rd and long all day today. Baker has to make miracles happen.
November 5th, 2023 at 4:55 pm
WELL..I SAID WE’D NEED FIVE TD”S..CAME UP ONE SHORT..PROUD OF BAKER & MOST OF THE OFFENSE ( EXCEPT K.”TRIP”VAUGHN & CHASED DOWN EDMUNDS ) DEFENSE HAD SOME GOOD PLAYS, BUT JUST COULDN’T STOP THEM AT THE END..4 IN A ROW NOW..BUT AT LEAST THE OFFENSE FINALLY SHOWED UP !..MAYBE THERE’S STILL HOPE FOR US YET !..BILL COWLER’S STEELERS HAD ABOUT THE SAME RECORD YEARS AGO, WENT ON A MAJOR WINNING STREAK, MADE PLAYOFFS AS A WILDCARD & WENT ON TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL THAT YEAR ! ! !..LIKE JOHN BELUSHI SAID IN ANIMAL HOUSE, “IT AIN’T OVER TILL “WE” SAY IT’S OVER ! ! ! “
November 5th, 2023 at 4:58 pm
OH,BY THE WAY..LETS FU#*!NG BUC’S ! ! !
November 5th, 2023 at 5:05 pm
I MEANT TO SAY : LET’S FU*#!NG GO BUC’S ! ! !(SOMETIMES I THINK FASTER THAN I TYPE..LOL )
