Bucs Activate Chase Edmonds

October 25th, 2023

Bucs RB Chase Edmonds.

Rachaad White has been put on notice.

The Bucs’ misplaced slot receiver turned RB1 (in theory only) might not be RB1 for long. With the NFL’s worst yards-per-carry in the league for the second year straight year, it appears the Bucs will turn to… Chase Edmonds.

Signed as a free agent in March, Edmonds was hurt in Week 2 and placed on the injured reserve list. He was activated today.

Yes, Joe believes this is an upgrade to the team’s putrid run game. Just about anything is.

Edmonds, 27, has 4 carries for 20 yards this season.

Hope it helps, but don’t think he will do much with this O line. Canales better be looking to dial in some different running plays.

  2. Mickman Says:

    Let’s rock and roll!

  3. garbs65 Says:

Well, I don’t see how his activation helps much. His pro career has not been stellar…he has a better ypc overall than our current group. He was a 4th round draft pick coming out of Fordham University. Nothing against Fordham. College numbers were good. However, coming off an injury with this o-line? Maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised. Go Bucs!

  4. Boss Says:

    START him!!!!

  5. Statisticly Insignificant Reader Says:

Hope Chase does well. If not, the discussion will quickley be back on the ineffectiveness of the offense line and or Canales play calling.

  6. sasquatch Says:

I’m not sure Chase Edmunds is enough to put Rachaad White on notice. Trade for a real #1 RB.

  7. TexasBucsFan Says:

This activation will not make a difference in the run game. You need 4 Horses up front to make a difference. Hope is not a strategy. Looking forward to the draft.

  8. The Graham Tram Says:

    Mr Glass

  9. SB~LV Says:

    Same RG-C-LG

  10. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

5 yards per carry. Edmonds is kicking ass.

  11. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Weather is looking great tommorow evening, looking foreward to some good tailgating with Bills fans!! Then kicking some butt!!! Come on we can win this game , lets back on track!!! Go Bucs!!!!

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    The missing link.

  13. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Edmonds is probably the Bucs RB1, because the others clearly, are not.
He’s not real good at catching a football, so he should fit right in.
He’s good at not fumbling, his sheet says. That’s good.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

Finally this Joe gets his wish, anyone but White.

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    Cool.

Can’t wait for him to get 5 more carries and be sent back to IR on Friday.

This dude hasn’t been healthy for the past three seasons.

    Toast.

  16. CChead Says:

Super Bowl here we come! Go Bucs!

  17. Rod Munch Says:

I was going to say Chase’s entire career is having a hell of a half of one season four years ago. But I was wrong. I was thinking about Kenyan Drake. Edmonds has never really done much, period. He is a 3rd down back, however, which means he should be able to pass protect, which means, hopefully, Vaughn is back to being inactive, or flat out cut.

So for all the Tuckturthers, he should finally see the field again for a handful of plays, I’d guess.

  18. IrishTony Says:

Stinnie or Leverett is an upgrade over Filer. They should bench and those two guys play. I’ll bet the interior instantly improves.

  19. IrishTony Says:

They should bench Mauch and start Leverett and Stinnie (Filer being injured). I’d bet that this upgrade on the interior line would upgrade the running game; I.e., getting more of a push.

  20. Statguy Says:

Mr beast put him on notice wearing #1 last game, now pull his ass now that Edmonds is back

  21. Defense Rules Says:

So this is Jason’s response to being #32 in the run game?

Upgrading a RB from IR to active once he’s healed up isn’t the response most were hoping for prior to the trade deadline. I like Chase Edmonds, but he won’t survive as lead dog for the remaining 11 games.

The more I think about adding Caleb Huntley, the more enamored I become with the prospect (assuming that he’s staying in football shape of course). Certain similarities (5’10” & 229 lbs) to LeGarrette Blount (6’0″ & 247 lbs) except smaller.

Falcons were really high on Huntley (rookie in 2022), but he tore his Achilles in one of the last games against New Orleans. They put him on the PUP this past June but then the Falcons waived him in July (they do have several other pretty good RBs).

Come to think of it, LeGarrette’s only 36 right now. Maybe JL could smooth talk him into coming out of retirement. I mean he is a youngster compared to Tom Brady.

  22. EC Buc Says:

Just as long he doesn’t run into the arse of one of the lineman, it’s tough to watch that happen again and again. Looking forward to maybe a cut to the outside or some improvisation…. Just something…

  23. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Playoffs!

  24. confido75 Says:

Bucs are going to roll with the players they have as predicted. O just needs to change up their play calling to adjust for their weaknesses. Oline is primarily the issue from what I am seeing now. Guards and Center need a lot of work. Trading Shaq Mason was a mistake.

  25. G Buc Says:

If our TE and Oline don’t do their jobs then even Sweetness himself (God rest his soul) cannot gain positive yards.

Team effort man! I hope Edmonds kills it! Free Sean Tucker!

  26. Hodad Says:

He lasted four carries, guy never stays healthy.

  27. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

    Running game solved

  28. Larrd Says:

Two games to shake off the rust, then probably hurt in game three.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Better than giving up draft capital for the next coach!

  30. Pewter Power Says:

Dude definitely doesn’t hesitate. He hits the hole and yea I think he’s going to take white’s job

  31. ElioT Says:

    Savior!

    #puke

  32. Oddball Says:

Yes, 31st in rushing here we come baby!

But I was kinda hoping to run it back for historically bad rushing titles. Oh well.

  33. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist and Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

Might as well immediately elevate Edmonds to RB1 and see what he can do with the bulk of the touches.

He looked like our most explosive RB the few times he’s touched the ball this season.

Also, elevate Tucker and get rid of Sneak Vaughn on gamedays.

    Can’t be worse.

  34. GenocideD Says:

    4 for 20 is 5 yards per… I’ll take that! 🙂

  35. 1#bucsfan Says:

Honestly he probably or does marginally better. I really don’t know how good he is but if he’s got better vision to see the holes then white use him in the running game and use white in the passing game. I get white isn’t a good running back but the thing is dude does pretty good at pass blocking be seen him pick up blitzes more than a few times and when he gets the ball out in space he makes people miss and gets yards. Play to these guys strengths for crying out loud. Feed the ball to our stars in ME13 n CG14 use white n Otton in the passing game also.

  37. teacherman777 Says:

    He runs hard!

    He’s jacked!

He’s fighting for his next contract.

White is scared to get hit and needs help getting up after AFTER play!

    I miss Leonard Fournette.
