Nick Leverett In The Spotlight
October 24th, 2023So who will replace injured left guard Matt Feiler in the starting lineup on Thursday night?
As Joe wrote earlier, Feiler has a bad knee and the Bucs play Thursday night on four days rest. They fly out tomorrow. Joe would led the elder statesman of the Bucs’ line, 30-year-old Feiler, sit the game out. Hell, the Bucs are underdogs and backup Nick Leverett has plenty of solid starts under his belt.
He was very good in emergency duty at left guard during the Bucs’ thrilling win at Indianapolis in 2022, and Leverett was strong early in his 10-start run when he replaced benched rookie Luke Goedeke last eason.
The Bucs also have Aaron Stinnie, the veteran best known for his starts at right guard in three Bucs postseason games during the glorious 2020 season.
Yes, the Bucs should be deep (in theory) at left guard. It’s a great time to test that depth.

him and stinnie should be playing

Probably an upgrade considering how many blown blocks Feiler has.

Nick is an awesome player imo. Watch his tape vs von miller at RT. He should be starting ahead of hainsey or Feiler anyway.

Joe who’s replacing the Whites?
Because you know White has a groin still.
The other White has a concussion from running into the oline so much.
We need help!

I thought Stinnie was running on to the field Sunday? Before Fieler waved him off?

Probably and improvement but it won’t change a thing.

Doctor Docor….tell ethe news.

Leverett will be in the spotlight for the snaps he takes at center in the near future. Stinnie likely to get the call at guard.

What a pickle if all of a sudden we have holes to run through on the left side, ummm, what a great place to be.

Good. We need SOMETHING to change in this offensive line. Emphasis on offensive.
Go Bucs, I reckon.

Mauch has hit the rookie wall, he needs to sit also. Start Stinnie and Nick.

Injury, and always it comes back again to the JAGs. Hainsey/Leverett, Leverett/Hainsey zzzzz. What was true remains true: this OL lacks high quality depth. Leverett was awful much of last season. Stinnie has disappeared since Logan Hall wiped him out, but if he is anything like he was prior to that, he should get the nod, although it won’t help much.

I know this is an old one but it needs to be said. Offenses execution? I’m in favor of it.

Leverett and Stinnie should have been starters over Feiler all year. I know I can’t continuously go back to LV, but Stinnie was playing OG when Lombardi Lenny was around. Once again that entire oline was dominant in 2020.

They both stunk out loud in the preseason Joe. Hope they have improved drastically!
Go Bucs!

I think guys like Leverett who get stuck on the bench can’t wait to get in there and start hitting guys, so maybe that helps our run game (can’t hurt). The biggest question about sitting so long is probably in pass protection and trying not to hold or false starts, but he’s a good veteran lineman. I think he’ll be ok.

Need to replace the right gaurd. He gets blown off the line constantly. He’s not big enough to play inside. Maybe in a year or 2 . But he was a tackle in college.
