Time For Nine

October 20th, 2023

Here the come the Falcons.

Bad road team. Bad quarterback. Head coach with a sad résumé.

Joe threw “Time For Nine” as a headline. That’s because the Falcons have lost eight consecutive road games, including one to the Bucs last season.

Falcons players were hit with that reality this week in their locker room and Joe didn’t hear any good answers. The fun part of all this is that the sorry Atlanta road record also means their starting quarterback, 10-game veteran Desmond Ridder, has never won a road game.

Joe can’t only chalk it up to bad luck. There’s something about life away from the Falcons’ soulless dome that makes them a different team.

Last year in Tampa, the Bucs jumped out to a 21-0 lead against the Falcons before taking their foot off the gas. After a late scare when officials erased a sack by Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, the Bucs held on to win 21-15.

If the Bucs can’t be a few points better at home than this edition of the Falcons, 3-3 without beating a team with a winning record, then there’s a real problem at One Buc Palace.

We gonna see a whole lot of Dijan Robinson.

I thought time for 9 was a reference to JTS

I hate the law of averages, especially when we don’t win at home. The Falcons are due for a road win and Vita might be out of commission. Run, run, run Falcons, run. This is a must win for all of us, except those nasty Falcons.

    Classic Todd Bowles.

Arians would have curb stomped them and won 45-10, and instead Bowles let the Falcons back in by getting ultra conservative.

However, it is worth noting, I still believe this is the game where Brady hurt his hand, and I don’t think it was healthy for the entire year. I believe the play was right before halftime. Before that, he was classic Brady, making every throw, pinpoint perfect, was destroying them – then he got his hand hit on a helmet I think, and suddenly he was anti-Tom Brady, missing easy throws, the ball was in the dirt, etc.

But, in classic Tom Brady style, when the game was on the line, even after playing really poorly for nearly 2 full quarters, he stepped up and threw a perfect pass to Scotty Miller – who was promptly tackled before the ball got there, and the refs didn’t call anything. The refs then made up for that blatant missed call, with the iffy call on the late hit.

That means watch out for Ridder.

I would feel better if we had a dependable RB

Its a division game, so you can throw all records and tendencies out the window. They have just as many wins as we do. Their defense is actually ranked higher than ours is. There better be a sense of urgency to get this one in the win column. Bowles loses a lot of goodwill if he gives up 200 yards of rushing. Still comes down to holding them to 20 or less and scoring 20 or more. I will still take my chances with the Bucs.

Unfortunately, we also have not beaten a team with a winning record. The thing that scares me is Atlanta has a good defense and what Baker is going to show up to the game.

Tampa seems to always lose when they go against terrible teams that need a win.

Joe…love the sentiment here, but … “Head coach with a sad résumé” … really? There’s a serious house of glass problem for us on that topic.

    gotta be careful with atlanta…

the coach…. &grady jarrett…etc…were pissed af last year the way the game finned out…

they felt cheated by “the brady rules” and thought they should have won that game or had a shot at winning it down the stretch

I cant put my finger on why, but this game scares me. Lots of stuff comes to mind because of my long time status as a Bucs fan.

Probably going to be a close game between the Bucs and Falcons. Another nailbiter coming up.
