A Game For The Linebackers

October 20th, 2023

Lavonte David weighs in.

Unlike the Buccaneers, the Falcons run wide often, on most of their rushes.

So what does that mean for the Bucs defense on Sunday, when Atlanta will hammer away with its three-headed monster at running back?

Iconic Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David answered the question this week on the Salty Dogs podcast, an official Tampa Bay Buccaneers production.

David said when the runs go wide inside offensive linemen are looking to climb up into the second level and stop linebackers from getting outside. So it’ll be a big Sunday for him and Devin White, David said, “Flow and make the plays outside.”

David has been studying film in preparation. Running backs Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson were strong for the Falcons last season, but now they’ve added beastly rookie rusher Bijan Robinson.

“He don’t look like no rookie, I’ll tell you that,” David said, adding that Robinson reminds him of LaDanian Tomlinson.

Joe really wants to see Devin White have a breakthrough game on Sunday. He’s due. White hasn’t been bad this season but he’s got one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit through five games. That’s not enough from a guy seeking $20 million per year.

    LVD is such a freak.

I can’t believe he is still playing at such a high level at such a physical position…

    What a stud.

We need some help from JTS, Shaq & Ya Ya also…….put your hands up if you can’t reach the QB guys.

  3. Oviedo Jim Says:

The only help you can expect from JTS is passing.out the towels and Gatorade jugs. Better yet maybe he can be made inactive. How can Vita Vea admit to attending the same.college as STS?

Do we? Is that what you’re focused on?
I love Bucs fans. We love defense. We only see defense. Our defense is tied for 3rd in points allowed. THEY ARE 1 POINT FROM 2ND! They are awesome. If the team wasn’t 3rd worst on offense, the defense would be even better. I don’t disagree more pressure is great but the 3rd best defense in the league is not the problem with this team.

Sly. Agreed. Defense is balling out except a few missed plays and tackles but overall are balling. For how long they are on the field cause the offense can’t sustain drives is quit amazing seeing they are top 3 in that cat. If this offense can get the ball moving and keep he defense off the field as much and keep them fresh they can improve but they are going to wear down and injuries will start to pile up if they keep playing at the rate they are.

Tampa’s defense is almost tailor made to stop Atlanta’s run game. Tampa has fast sideline to sideline linebackers. I’m not expecting Atlanta to get too much going on offense.

All the LBs need to take care of their business. If JTS or White gets Juked out of their jock or trucked to Port Tampa one more time I will be forced damage my TV.

    Go Bucs!

  8. Larrd Says:

I haven’t seen a word about Winfield this week. Two weeks ago he was all-world, then he disappeared against Detroit. He should do the spying and D White should rush the passer, maybe.
