Slimy Saints Lose; Bucs Game Against Dixie Chicks Critical In NFC South Race
October 20th, 2023The slimy Saints lose! The slimy Saints lose! Time for a Bromosa!
Nothing, and Joe means nothing, gets Joe in the mood to guzzle Big Storm Brewing beers to launch the weekend like watching the slimy Saints lose in the final seconds in their Lincoln’s Tomb of a home dome.
Jacksonville damn near gagged away a win but rallied in the final seconds to make those voodoo Cajuns pound hurricanes on Frenchman Street.
Way to go Christian Kirk!
The slimy Saints now have a losing record, 3-4. AH-hahahahahaha!
This makes the Bucs’ game against the Dixie Chicks (3-3) on Sunday all the more important. With a win over the Dixie Chicks, not only would the Bucs (3-2) have a 1 1/2-game lead on Atlanta for first place in the NFC South, the Bucs would have a virtual chokehold on the division.
Think about it: With a win Sunday, the Bucs would already have a division win over the slimy Saints and Dixie Chicks. And who really believes the Bucs won’t sweep the Stinking Panthers?
By the time the Bucs play Carolina for the first time in December, the Stinking Panthers might be in full tank mode trying to get Drake Maye or Marvin Harrison.
(Joe doesn’t put it past meddling Stinking Panthers owner David Tepper one bit to trade Bryce Young so he could draft local hero Maye.)
October 20th, 2023 at 12:22 am
Panthers could have the top 2 draft picks in April, so Joe is right about Bryce Young becoming the next Josh Rosen. Man the Jaguars tried to give that game to the Saints as that 4th and short gamble near midfield backfired and the Saints tied it up only to have their defense let them down late. Have to feel bad for Foster Moreau for dropping what should have been the tying TD but as a Bucs fan, every loss by the Saints is a good thing. Bring on the Dixie Chicks, hopefully the Bucs do not imitate the Saints who could not do anything on offense until the 4th quarter when the Jags seemed to let up a bit.
October 20th, 2023 at 12:23 am
Go Bucs!!!
October 20th, 2023 at 12:25 am
Ugghh, I meant the Panthers traded away what could have been the number one pick to Da Bears! One too many Bromosas as I type! Still they could try to dangle Bryce out for some draft capital along with some of their defensive pieces like Brian Burns who could get a some big picks in return.
October 20th, 2023 at 12:25 am
Not even being competitive with the top tier teams the Bucs have played is one thing, losing to the mediocre Falcons would be an indictment against the coaching staff and the direction of this team… Likely a season altering game…
A MUST WIN game will surely make great strides to earning a playoff spot BUT getting there and then getting embarrassed in the 1st game is not good enough!
October 20th, 2023 at 12:28 am
Uh, huh!
October 20th, 2023 at 12:35 am
This is the season of the spoiler. Driving the Saints, Falcons, and Panthers back to rebuilding mode, AND wining an appearance in the playoffs is definitely worth it. That Nawlins defense that keeps people under 20 is leaking, and pay a ton of money to Carr and Jameis to underwhelm at quarterback. Embrace their angst and anxiety Buc fans.
October 20th, 2023 at 12:35 am
This is a pivotal game for Baker. Even a two game losing streak will start the murmuring of the Trask crowd which includes me. But hopefully Canales utilizes the great pass protection and goes pass heavy
October 20th, 2023 at 12:37 am
Won’t be just Baker catching hell.
Joe is fully convinced if Mayfield is benched for Trask it will just about guarantee there will be a coaching change because that will be a panic move and Bowles won’t kill his career unless the Bucs have a losing record. Remember, Bowles all but hand-picked Mayfield.
And if Bowles is gone, you can start greasing your loin in preparation for a first round quarterback to show up in April.

they really should fire whomever is responsible for drafting that joke of a qb in carolina…
dude is gonna wind up back up to the back up of the concession stands keg filler…
reich should be canned for drafting that tiny little joke of a qb…
when baker sees him in december the first thing he’s gonna do is yell at him “get ya weight up boy!”
October 20th, 2023 at 3:33 am
Adam,
Word is mgt ie owernship want him not the coach!
October 20th, 2023 at 6:10 am
Time to grab the dirty birds by the throat! Send all those foreign fans home with some mobid thoughts about ever coming back to Ray Jay!
Go Bucs!
October 20th, 2023 at 6:35 am
Considering that the Panthers have no first round pick, it would be awfully hard to pick a quarterback at the top of the class. They are stuck with Young and no pick.
October 20th, 2023 at 6:36 am
I have to agree with Lee on this one regarding the Trask conversation… Baker has to have a few terrible games…in a row, because with these coaches, who are notorious for spreading the blame, it would have to be egregiously poor QB play for the change to take place, and frankly I don’t know if Baker is even capable of that performance…on his worse day.
You know, what would truly be remarkable about this season, that you can’t even say during the Brady Era here in Tampa, that it would be great for us to beat the teams we’re supposed to beat… meaning? Ruling our division, not losing to bad football teams like Carolina, beating teams like the Falcons, who on paper and scheme, aren’t better than us. Even with our 4 loss season with Brady, 3/4 losses we should have won those games. I’d be incredibly content with this team’s performance just taking care of the games where we know we’re better. We all know we got some work to do with this Oline, and hopefully it gets addressed in the offseason.
October 20th, 2023 at 6:37 am
TYE summed it up perfectly as far as I’m concerned.
October 20th, 2023 at 6:51 am
In my advanced and curmudgeonly age/ways…I almost enjoy a Taints/Falcones/Panthers loss as much as a Bucs win. Almost.
Having said that, this has the feeling of a potential “back-in” vs win the NFC South for one of these flailing teams. Big game Sunday as many including Joe have said.
Used Carr is who we thought he was…
Dennis Allen too…
Bryce Young looks like a trick or treaters out there as the late great John Madden would say…thank God they didn’t draft Stroud…who proved he was legit vs Georgia last year. Now having said that…a sweep of the Panthers is far from a guarantee. Frank Reich’s stock has fallen faster than Roberto Kraft’s slacks at a Touch of Asia massage/parlor/body shampoo salon/saloon.
October 20th, 2023 at 6:56 am
The coach wanted Stroud. So glad that didn’t happen.
October 20th, 2023 at 6:57 am
Losing to the Falcons is entirely plausible, but the Bucs should beat them and for godsakes, please make it a beat down. It is time to start producing points, boys, and not relying solely on a good defense to beat bad teams, only to lose to good teams.
I am not down on Mayfield, but I certainly AM skeptical about his abilities. He has to start showing improvement in passing accuracy pretty darn soon or there will be a clamor for Kyle Trask who has, throughout training camp, showed that he’s a more accurate passer than Mayfield.
Mayfield was supposed to make up for his less accurate passing with his “moxie” and his “experience”. So far, that has only produced wins against bad teams, and beatdowns from good teams. That is not good enough.
So Mayfield has to start producing. Atlanta is not a very good test of the Bucs ability against good teams, as they are not a good team. But this is the kind of team that the Bucs should put up 28-30 points or more against, not continuing to waddle along at their 18 ppg clip.
October 20th, 2023 at 7:02 am
I am not down on Baker Mayfield, but I clearly AM skeptical of his performance to date, which is to put up only 18 ppg, barely beat bad teams, and get blown out by good teams. His passing accuracy is not good, and that cannot be blamed on his receivers as his fanboys try to do, always, with their excuses. He’s the quarterback, he touches the ball on every play, and he’s got very good receivers to throw to in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
This game against Atlanta is one where Baker has simply gotta produce 28-30+ points. If he only barely squeaks out a point or two more than our good defense allows, against a mediocre team, then the calls for Trask ought to start getting loud. Trask is simply a more accurate passer than Mayfield, with much better touch and just the right amount of loft or air to let his receiver catch it without it being blocked at the LOS or sailing over the receiver’s fingertips.

3 of the next 4 games for the saints are road games…
then they are home for detroit, carolina and the giants…
not a lot of tough games in their next 7 other than detroit…
but they do seem pretty inconsistent on a whole for the season so far
October 20th, 2023 at 7:05 am
Too bad the Bears own the Panthers 1st rd pick next year
October 20th, 2023 at 7:11 am
Joe: “And if Bowles is gone, you can start greasing your loin in preparation for a first round quarterback to show up in April.”
Because Trask, who outplayed Mayfield definitely in training camp and arguably in preseason, well, he can’t possibly play well? What the hell kind of reasoning is that?
October 20th, 2023 at 7:13 am
I don’t want to depend on the Saint’s losing….but I sure like it.
October 20th, 2023 at 7:13 am
The Panthers dont even have their first round pick, they traded it to the Bears, who now have the 1st and 3rd pick in the coming draft.
October 20th, 2023 at 8:11 am
I have a NC bestie who follows the Panthers, and was warned when their ownership changed. The new one is a stupid compared to the original owner who was responsible for the franchise coming to the Carolinas. One of this yahoo’s first decisions was getting rid of Ron Rivera. Aints are imploding–good riddance. How is cheating’ Payton doing out in Denver, BTW? Bucs will win Sunday. This isn’t a game after the Bye week, thank god!
October 20th, 2023 at 8:27 am
The Bucs are averaging 18ppg this season just like last season. Last season Tom Brady was our starting QB. The Bucs lost to the Panthers.
October 20th, 2023 at 8:37 am
Joe Says:
Joe is fully convinced if Mayfield is benched for Trask it will just about guarantee there will be a coaching change because that will be a panic move and Bowles won’t kill his career unless the Bucs have a losing record.
Joe, Are you saying that you don’t think Trask can perform at a higher level than Baker? Baker had done some good things but only against teams with a losing record. The issues of seeing and throwing over the line and inability to hit the long ball is what is hurting us. I think Trask can solve those issues. As far as getting in and out of plays, Baker is good at. Maybe Trask will be, too. But what’s the use of changing to a play at the line when you can not execute the play?
October 20th, 2023 at 8:49 am
Another thing to consider is that Trask improved dramatically over the offseason. If his improvement under Canales’ tutelage has continued, he might be heads and shoulders above Baker at this point.
October 20th, 2023 at 9:44 am
Girding your loins.
October 20th, 2023 at 9:57 am
F the saints.
October 20th, 2023 at 10:05 am
There is trouble in NO. Love it!
October 20th, 2023 at 11:03 am
Joe that was hysterically funny. ‘Saints are probably pounding down hurricanes somewhere on bourbon street, about rite now’.
No question most likely at Pat obriens where the swill runs non stop. It’s been said those fountains in the courtyard that glow at nite are filled with that jungle juice!
Hey you know, a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.
October 20th, 2023 at 11:38 am
Come on fellow Buc Fans. Give it up for them Jag-wars. They are ballin and their QB has learned the game after yrs of hard hits and abuse. I pull for them when I am not rooting for our Bucs.
October 20th, 2023 at 4:28 pm
He absolutely did. Which, in Joe’s mind, is a major credit to Dave Canales.
October 20th, 2023 at 4:34 pm
You just answered your own question. If Trask (greener than grass) couldn’t beat out Mayfield, and (some) want to bench Mayfield, what are we talking about here?
Willing to bet *if* the Bucs have a losing record and there is a coaching change, the Glazers will hire an offensive guy. What better way to lure an offensive coach than to say, “You get to pick your quarterback in the first round and groom him.”
What coveted offensive guy is going to come here if he forced to start Trask, a guy who couldn’t beat out Mayfield? Glazers only give coaches two years before they expect wins. A new coach, given such a short window to get his act in gear, will want his own guy at quarterback, not someone’s unwanted leftovers.
